Jarrad Branthwaite

Is he?

He seems to predominantly tackle with his right foot, even in situations where the left would be more orthodox. He tends to pass the ball with his right foot more often than not too.

Pretty certain he’s predominantly right footed.

Yes he is definitely right footed.

This is another thing I like about Branthwaite as he looks to be comfortable on both feet. A number of times he took a touch with one foot and then passed with the other. You only have to look at the mess Keane almost got himself into by trying to flick the ball away with his right rather than clearing properly with his left.

What is I pressing me, but at the same time is an area he needs to work on, is that he starts slow but tends to work players out and be comfortable.
It’s a good skill to have, he just needs to work them out a little faster as this is the premier league, and quality players will make you pay if you don’t work them out fast.

But to be picking on quality’s like that with a lad his age and experience, is a compliment.

I must say.... he's the first time I've seen us have a centre half of a young age who physically looks dominant and athletic since Richard Dunne.  Looks like he can play too.....  I'm very optimistic about him.

Physically he's going to be a beast by the time he's in his early 20's no doubt about it.

I think this lad along with Godfrey is our centre half pairing in 4 years and likely to be the best pairing in 30 years ... Top quality

Holgate in the mix too. He’s not quite found the form he had pre injury but still think he’s going to be an excellent CB

Yeah I think so.  Holgate is very solid and will improve under Carlo.  That's what I've enjoyed most, the likes of DCL, Keane, Iwobi clearly getting better.

Poor challenge but nothing more than clumsy. Warnock being Warnock - dick! Mowbray will protect him but he seems to handle himself professionally when someone, old enough to be his granddad, tries to spark a reaction.

Could maybe understand him being cross in the heat of the moment if it happened in the 93rd minute, but after an hour and a half to calm down? Idiot should know better at his age.

How can it be nasty if there’s no intent?

Nasty as in horrendous, not nasty as in mean spirited.

He hasn't meant to kick the guy in the head but he has put his foot out dangerously high with his studs showing when he could reasonably expect another player to attempt to head the ball.

Ah, fair enough.

yeah, he will overtake holgate next i believe.  wouldn't be surprised if holgate is sold to west ham or something

Absolutely. Shame about Holgate because he seemed to have everything - still time to turn it around but I think the 4 CB’s are enough and funds towards a proper RB are crucial.

Holgate just needs a run and he’ll be that superstar he was turning into. At the moment he’s coming across more arrogant than confident, but that’s because he’s not getting a run. He’ll still be an excellent CB for us

I thought he was excellent yesterday, I've always been a big fan of Holgate and hoped that his recent form was something of a blip. If he can use yesterday to kick on then happy days.

Excited to see what Branthwaite can turn into also, I've been hearing good things online about him at Blackburn.
