just had a bit more of a scout around the internet, as thought his wages of £120K seemed a little low for a player of his ilk. Seem he may be earning the equivalent of £260K a week give the tax breaks afforded to players in Italy, and is one of the best paid players in Serie A. Though that article sounded a bit to good to be true.

I don't know enough about Eriksen specifically to say yes or no, but I feel very strongly that this position, that 3rd CM, is the biggest priority right now. Replacing Siggy/Gomes/Davies with someone of real quality to form a partnership with Allan and Doucoure and we should expect to compete for top 4 the rest of the way. We can deal with RB and other squad depth in the summer.

In American pro sports every league has a trade deadline which is usually about 2/3 of the way into the season. I've always looked at the January window in a similar manner to those deadlines. It's a chance for teams that are chasing something special to go out and show some intent by trading away unproven talent for proven talent. In this case, that's teams chasing Europe and trying to prevent relegation. The 'Big 6' aren't likely to do much, we need to make this hugely important signing in midfield...whoever it is.

The problem with the January window is that there are far, far fewer options than in the summer. So unless someone really stands out there isn’t much point for a team like us. Carlo alluded to this in his recent interview where he seemed to be saying don’t expect much/anything.

That being said I do think we need a longterm upgrade for the Siggy role. This could just be James but he’s never gonna play 35+ games and you’d have a hole to fill on the right anyhow. For me, a healthy-ish Everton have a good chance to make Europe so I would prefer to not do something rash. Look at some options and if something stands out then by all means but forcing it in these spots in previous seasons has set us back. No reason not to trust Carlo and Co. at this point.

My hope is that by being set in a few areas (assuming Richie stays) we can consolidate our funds in the summer and make a couple really high quality signings as opposed to spreading it out over 4,5,6 guys.

On the assumption he is the same player that played so well for Spurs then its a huge yes. He is essentially the player I imagine Walsh thought he was buying when he bought Siggy, ie an actual creative player and not just a set piece specialist!

He was a little disappointing at the end for Spurs with the contractual issues and it appears it has been the same at Inter. I am not sure why that is?

Very good Premiership player - makes goals and scores goals, decent work rate - would have no problem seeing a player of his quality joining the club. Whether it happens or not remains to be seen.

£17M doesn't seem a ridiculous amount of money for a proven player of his quality. OK, no probable resale value, but the type of player that could make the difference in top 4-6 finish or not. Although high enough, £120K isn't 'fantasy' wages. An 'Eriksen' in place of a 'Bernard' - yes please.

17 million is really nothing. At 28 even if we got 4 season out of him that’s 4.25 mil per year. We’ve paid more in loan fees for players at times than that I’m sure. (Lukaku & Zouma)

Anyone against, or even on the fence about this transfer deserves to eat chips and curry from the chippy to the right of St. Luke's for the rest of their lives (it's shit).

Eriksen is an unbelievable player, regardless of what has happened at Internazionale, it's yet another positive transfer that moves us that closer to European football rather than repeating the cycle of signing mid-table folk and hoping they somehow come up on top.

Would be seriously, seriously happy with this one.

Edit: Fun while it lasted, rumour is Pochettino wants to take him to PSG.
