Got a striker you can sell to us by any chance? One with 2 working legs should do

His first stint with us was impressive all things considered and can't agree the end of is tenure was poor. we where knocking on the door of top 4.

I didn't say poor. I said it 'wasn't great'. There is a difference. Same way you say finishing sixth is 'knocking on the door of top 4'. It's how you spin it.

I remember it being toxic at the end. I think the narrative that Moyes (and the media) spun of plucky, little Everton punching above their weight against the 'big boys' unravelled a bit at the end, but maybe time (and where we are now) gives it a certain gloss.

I thought we had some very good / great players under Moyes and some would argue (me) that we should have done better with what we had.

That is not to say that Moyes is a bad manager or that he didn't do a lot of things very well.

I still think it's retrograde to go back. But we are where we are and I hope it works out.

At his departure, he was arrogant and treated the club with disdain - as if we were no longer good enough. While that’s years ago now, he should at least acknowledge this and admit he was wrong. Better still, an apology would help his case, I think.

Agree entirely.

Maybe Moyes bucks the trend of returning managers his 2nd spell at West Ham was better, he got them into Europe and won a trophy. Who knows we could be the next team he returns to and does the same.

I hope so! We need a settled spell of top half finishes before the (looks in crystal ball) title years (2028, 2029, 2030)! 🙂

Everton where playing some of there  best football in the 11 years under Moyes at the very end of his last stint.

when he left we where as competative as any team based on our spending power.  He was delivering good bang for the bucks spent. He had put together a decent team on a relative shoe string.

i feel he was as frustrated as we fans where that the club just didnt have the budget to bring one or two more quality players in that could have kicked us on.

this will be a new chapter that will be judged on its own merits.

Moyes is the sensible and careful choice at this moment in time. So the new owners being sensible and careful in there first few week isn't a bad thing.

I've renamed this thread, merged with the other one and pinned it.

Thanks Mark you are so magnanimous, I know you aren’t happy with this appointment, but hopefully he gets as ready to move us onto a more dynamic manager.

I'll do my best to remain so if we lose a few...

Nah, I obviously will because I'll be as disappointed as anyone!

I’m worried for him. Moyes was always his favourite 😳

All the media are banging on about our lack of goals and we always did wonder what would've happened with Moyes and a real goalscorer, I wonder when the Lukaku links will start...

Then I hope it’s football season when I’m next in Sweden so I can cheer them on!

I'm more bothered about the club than I am on Moyes tbh - I'm more angry at Dyche than I ever was with Moyes I think.

moyes has more integrity than Dyche - yeah his conduct at United was poor and I'm sure he has regrets.

if Moyes gets us safe and we have a long term manager in mind then great.  We ain't in a position to be picky.

Spot on mate. I knew you would come up with some words of wisdom 👍

Dyche left the owners with no option other than to sack him, and the position he left us in didn’t give much scope, we need PL status, Moyes is probably the best option atm.

It won’t become glorious football overnight, but it must surely be better than anything Dyche could serve up.

11 years ago... he got carried away with himself and made some mistakes.

he will have a good look at this squad and we will see players get a lift.

Coleman will have his ears and make clear to Moyes what Dyche was doing to go so wrong. There will be players like Patterson, O'Brien, dcl, Tim, garner, who will feel like they will get a fresh opportunity.

interesting to see how he sets us up to play

You’re spot on with Seamus. That will be critical to speed up our on field improvement and chemistry. My biggest worry (other than our fullbacks being absolute shit and DCL not scoring for basically two years) is our midfield. Moyes’ teams were so strong there and we’re so one dimensional when Tim and Jimmy are out.

There's the romantic film-esq possiblity that he does really well and gets us consistently in Europe too guys

Is Ryan Reynolds interested in another footy film opportunity?
