MikeO
My daughter's just had it installed Bill so if you don't get any joy I could find out pretty quickly. Sure someone will have the info though.
Bill
Would like to find out cos NTL are offering free connection and free phone calls, so if they provide their own phone connection, I can do away with BT and save £36 a quarter on their connection. Louis
They use their own cable. They usually add their own phone sockets next to the existing BT sockets (they usually physically disconnect them too - cheeky buggars!). The quality of the sound over cable is a lot better than BT lines. You can keep your current number too. BT may charge you for disconnection if you have been with them for less than 12 months. Bill
Thanks Louis, it might be worth me looking into it, so i dont need the BT connection for the broadband either. ??
Louis
Nope. If you go for cable you can completely get rid of BT. With telewest and NTL (now the same company actually just not in name) you can get phonelines, digital tv and 2mb internet for £30 a month for 12 months and then £35 after that. Bill
Would that interfere with the freeview i already have, integrated into the present TV through an aerial. Sorry to be a pest, but whenever i'm on the phone i always forget to ask questions which i should.
Louis
It depends what package you go for. If you go for one that includes digital tv, it would replace it. You'd get more a lot more channels but it comes at a price (as I said above it'd be £30 per month for 12 months *£360*). Here's the list of channels: http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/displayepg.php?platform=ntlnw Freeview goes through the aerial on your roof and the cable box would go through the cable - you could use both if you wanted to i.e. set it up so you could record onto tapes and watch another channel.
