Romey 1878
All I can say is thank fuck for that, lets hope they dont find another genius spinner by the time the next Ashes come round
Guest fozzie
Heard Langer is on his way too.. It has been absolute pleasure to watch Warne over the years, the gatting ball of course lives long in the memory but there have countless other times we've been on the end of a Warne bowling spell that beggers belief. I hear the word legend on this forum (usually in referance to ferguson) but frankly this man went beyond that,a true showman a one off the likes of which we'll never see again, quite how the aussies will cope with the retirements will be interesting to see thats for sure. But as for Shane so long and thanks for all the memorys (mostly painfull but you cant complian when you see bowling like that).
Ian
Spot on Foz, I got into Cricket about 4 years ago properly, but I always was amazed growing up by the magic he made with that spin. Legend in every sense of the word, superb bowler, hated him when we where playing him but admired him throughout it all. As Gilcrist would say 'oh nice bowling shane!' Guest fozzie
Aye i got into cricket in 1974 and i havent seen a better spin bowler and for that matter i havent seen any better bowler than him. We should be thankfull for him in many ways tbh he almost single handedly re-introduced spin bowling back into the test arena as an attacking option. fcssl
Never been a follower of player of cricket, however I saw a video of his first ashes recently. How does that man defy the laws of physics like that? Amazing. Anyway, I can only hope that the Aussies get a load of rubbish like we have, then we stand more of a chance. Willo
Its a Shame for the sport of cricket but at least he's going out on a high . Always liked the spin-master even though i dreaded the thought of him bowling against us every ashes series and he's always just seemed like a normal down to earth bloke which you very rarely get with someone described as a legend . A legend he certainly is and the whole sport of cricket will miss him for sure . As they say '' it aint over til the fat man spins '' but old mr time is a'creepin up so lets just enjoy the wizard of oz in action over the next 2 tests cos we've already been humiliated and we may aswell watch a master at work . Pat
Quote of a modern poet - What do you plan on retirment Shane - " I Dunno, couple of Beers & a Few Smokes & see what happens" Now thats a man with a plan.
Romey 1878
McGrath's going after the world cup, oh well they only have Stuart Clark to replace him just as good though.

Pat
You would have liked Jeff Thomson in his day Steve0 - He Invented the Toe Crusher. Still arguably the Fastest ever & on aproach would tell the Btasman he was going to hit them. Then hit them....LOL Then he set about to break their Toes - As a batsman with no head cant think & a Batsman with no feet cant stand. Simple logic really. I read Thommo was once a half decent Footballer, but beat the shit out of a referee on the pitch & to this day still has a world wide life FIFA ban. Romey 1878
He sounds fucking brilliant. Incidentally i've just found out that when I have caps lock switched on the letters stay lower case, but if I switch caps lock off the letters are in caps. WTF. This is not my day. Pat
Further Thommo legend - he & Ian Beefy Botham when playing for Queensland many years ago, I been told forced a internal oz flight to be redirected & were arrested on touch down after allegedly brawling with other passengers after a cple 2 mnay bevvies. P.s - To apply some cultural context - Queenslander's in Oz are some what regarded as the Texan's of Autsralia - Uno put the R in redneck. But I love em salt of the earth & very str8 2 the point.
