Service With A Snarl

Ended up doing lunch @ me local today (steak Sarnie, cple ales) With a Work Mate & was shocked @ the amazing service we got, this las, flat stick busy she was, but couldnt do enough for us. ( Possibly my rugged good looks weakend her kness)

Got us yacking further in regards to general modern customer service.

Remember the old Adage's " The Customer Is always right" & "Service with a Smile" from where I stand these dont seem to be common practises anymore.

Is more like "The Customer is a Cnut fuk em" & "Service with a Snarl", unless of course you get tacky americamacdonalised Cliche's.

Is it just me Or do u lot feel the same ?

I generally find service to be ok in Liverpool (or at least the places I frequent) but I am happy with a welcome & a smile with my food ariving promptly & prepared well. I'm not one for all this fussing around and being asked if everythings ok every 10 mins, I'll open by big mouth if I'v got anything to say so just leave me in peace!

I did like the service in the Japanese restaurant in town tho but the japs are like that very minamilist in that they were always out of sight and once you had ordered you were left alone but should you want some more wine in your glass as if by magic they appeard before you had time to reach into the wine bucket and did it for you. I only had to raise my head from the conversation and one was next to me so I could request the bill rather than having to scan the restaurant and catch someones eye like you normally do in restaurants!

10/10 from this critic but you pay the price too!

I'm the same as you Zed, hate it when they come back and keep asking if everythings ok. And it always happens just as you put some food in your mouth as well.

On a seperate note, was in JD Sports in Leeds centre and it was closing time and I got my trainers and was waiting behind a pair of fellas. The woman on the counter was struggling as there was some complication but this lad wasn't happy. Then the guy behind me started moaning like hell but to be fair to the girl she was trying and the other staff were just stood around doing naff all. So I wait patiently and quietly. Finally I get to the counter, shes as snotty as hell with ME! She keeps apologising to the dick head behind me about the wait but not me. I never pay with my card as I don't like the bank knowing where I'm spending my money but this time I had too. Didn't know where to put the card and she told me in a tone I didn't like. She was still apologising to the guy behind me who was all like "don't worry love, seems your the only one working." she then slammed my reciept in the bag and pushed the bag towards me saying "there you go" in another tone I didn't like.

A long story but it still pisses me off. She was all nice to the people who was mouthin off at her lack of service but I'm the one who gets the worse service. Getting worked up now and its too early, think I'll resist writing more...

I was in Sainsbury's the other day...at the check out went to put in my PIN and the first number I pressed registered twice, so I told the woman and she (po faced) reset it. Went to press again but the number had got stuck down so it wouldn't work. Pointed it out to her and she said...

"You must have pressed it too hard."

I enquired as to how many thousand times previously she thought I'd entered my PIN without a problem and suggested (very politely because I had Josh with me) that it was possibly a problem with her keypad...dozy tart.

Anybody tried renewing their TV licence yet, now that you cant pay it at the Post office. ?

The nearest shop to me on the renewal form didnt have the facility to take my Card, and wanted Cash only, who walks around with £130 odd pounds cash in their pockets, so i had to go looking for The PAYPOINT sign outside of other shops.

So in case this happens again the following day, whilst i'm in town i get cash out the bank and finds a shop with the paypoint sign outside, goes in and they cant do it cos their Scanner is broken, the scanner registers directly to the TV people. that you have payed, so its another Route March around town to find another shop.

This system is supposed to make it easier for you to renew, but i can see a lot of people say fook it if they meet these probs every time. And in the meantime more Post Offices are being closed down.

I'm sick of paying it full stop!!

Set up a direct debit Bill you get a slight discount too for paying that way.

Well I'm on to Virgin Media now, its been an hour and have been passed onto about 6 different people. All very helpful until the 6th.

Basically my internet is crap and always has been for the past week. I rang them up the other day and they did some tests from their end and found I was getting considerably less speed than I should. They send a technician out today to test the modem and replace the wiring. He comes round checks my ip and says that the Virgin Media server I'm on is messed up as too many people are on it. He tells me its going to be a month to fix it so he suggests I ring them and ask them for a discount or move me to another server.

Well as I said the first 5 people are helpful but keep passing me on. The next guy is a dick, won't believe me when I said its broken, does some tests and says that its fine. I'm not going to waste an hour on the phone if its not broken. After much of me telling him the problem him tellin me its fine I ask to speak to the supervisor. Which I'm on hold to now, still.

Luckily, as I'm ringing from a mobile, one of the people at virgin media said that I should hang up and he'll call me straight away. Which he did thank god as now I feel the supervisor is leaving me on hold on purpose. Haha, but unfortunately for him I'm not wasting my money :-)

the worst customer service, bar none, is telephone companies. I am signed up with BT for phone line and internet, the interent crashed and didn't work for 2 months, yet they kept charging me money for it. I spoke to hundreds of different staff on many different occasions and never came accross one who was any help or even sounded like they cared. I know its a shit job, but if your being paid to do a job then you should fucking do it, ive done telesales type stuff before and i never spoke to people the way i was spoken too.

anyway they said to me that they did not guarente a fault proof service. thats fucking ridicualous. they should at least guarnetee a service! never got me money back and it still angers me. bastards!

I'd follow that up Jamie tbh, I remember the link tried to mess me around so I sent (well my sister did) a nasty letter and they sent me the money they owed me straight away.

About Virgin, just spoke to the supervisor who says work is going to be carried out tonight and should be finished by 7pm. He said that should fix the problem and that he doesn't know why the technician told me it won't be a month till its fixed. Hmm I believe the technician tbh so took his name and the department he supervised so will be ringing them up tomorrow if its still broken.

I've never worked in a place like that but he did say hes going to leave a note on my account about our conversation so the person I ring will know what is going on. Not sure but is it true that you can ask for the notes they make on the account to see if they say anything bad about you?

Agree with phone companies theyre awful.

Product knowledge is another, sometimes 1 needs to ask uno whats the better, whats diff etc etc & the amount of times the salesperson's eyes roll back in the heads ( U No then they ainta clue - im talking more specialised shops not super markets here) & suggest the dearer option with alot of ermms & arghhhs is amazing.

I dont want to be pampered, but a smile & decent service isnt to much too ask I believe.

Hoiwever I do agree theere is a fine line between decent service & the over bearing sales assistant that wont get out of your face.

Sometimes customer 's like to browse before deciding. I know I do.

Unfortunately its the modern way isnt it, I work in sales and some of the people I deal with are, for want of another word "cunts" however, I always remain "proffessional", that beeing the othe key word.

Your paid to do a job, it should be done proffesionally, which means in a sales/customer service environment being nice an friendly with people, the idea being customer retention and getting them to come back

Claire, you should tell your boss to stop being a condesending wanker

I was quite shocked at the way the person/girl on the counter of Lidl in town spoke to this american woman when she wanted to pay but couldnt use a credit card (only debit) and didnt have any cash on her. Iwas thinking "What sort of impression of liverpool is this woman getting" I could feel the rage building and was waiting for her to be shitty with me. I was going give her a load back. She was nice though, bugger
