Car Insurance Is A Joke

Recommended Posts

its a joke for younger drivers!!! I'm payin over a grand a year (granted i had a crash, dikhead!!!) its about £90 a month which is shoking, I thought id suddenly goes cheap when you hit 25 Goldy? Cos my mates got an Escort Cosworth and they laughed at him untill he was 25

My insurance has gone from £1600 third party when I was 19 to £900 fully comp at 25 with one crash 3 years ago. But my sister just got a quote on a W reg 1.4 nissan for £1062 fully comp and she passed her test last week & we live around the corner from eachother.

So does that say she's a safer driver than me then in the eyes of the insurance companies?

The newest car I'v ever owned is an S reg & I'v never had an engin over 1.4 because I simply couldnt afford the price hikes & pay fo my house too. Considering the discount she will obtain next year as an experienced driver it wouldnt supprise me if her insurance is cheaper than mine when she comes to renew next year!

HOW do they work this out?

I've had two cars at regular intervals, always get fed up with one then switch to the other, but recently i had to sell my beloved 2 litre Sierra Saphire, cos the Insurance had gone up to £263, and with the £187 for the Focus it was proving to be too much of a stretch for my meagre little pension to keep both.

So i'm stuck now with the Focus, which isnt half the fun as the Sierra, but its cheaper Insurance and cheaper Tax. :(

BYE BYE YOU LITTLE BEAUTY.

Insurers tend to give girls a better deal when they are 19-25 because statistically they are less likely to be racers. It's very unfair..

I've just seen on the news that you can now be docked 6 points and fined for eating whilst driving!

Yep statistically my sister doing her makeup in the rear view whilst driving & eating a McDonalds breakfast with all her uni mates in the car after a week on the road is less likely to be involved in an accident than me. 7 years on the road, one minor bump, driving a 1.1L fiesta, a recently passed seccond theory test & motorbike licence but I'm as unsafe according to the insurers as a brand new driver.

It's a sorry state of affairs :(

Unfortunately, this Car Insurance crap is indicative of the way the country is run by insurance companies.

Walk into a bank with a replica weapon and demand money, you will end up serving a minimum of 20 years, walk up to someone with a knife and stab them and kill them, you will end up doing 15 years.

Insurance companies receive a higher premium from banks than they do from a regular life policy from Joe Average, and it is cheaper to pay for a life than it is to pay for a bank job.

I feel that bank robbery is wrong and I am not trying to justify it, but it fucking stinks. The more letigeous we become as a society, the higher our premiums go and the tighter the grip on us as consumers the insurance companies have on us.

In theory, they could charge us anything they want, because we as car users are required by law to be covered.

Twats the lot of them.

Know what you mean Goldy, I'm 2 months older than my cousin and I passed my drivin test a couple of months before her as well.

Now we both got a car at the same time but while her insurance was £900 on a 1.1 I was quoted by the same insurance as £1900. Now where is the fairness in that?

After a couple of years hers is down to £300 and mine is still a massive £700. Even though shes crashed and if I said I had 3 points it would have been £1100, so I kept that one quiet ;)

Im shitting bricks about how much mines gona go up in april (renewal time). I think im gona get taken to the cleaners!! What pissed me off the most about the insurnace company was when my mum phoned them to tell them I'd got three points, the women had made a note of it (ha!!) aparently never cos when i came to tell them bout the crash (god i'm a shite driver) they told us we'd not claimed the three points and so were charged again!! Bloody foreign call centres!!!
