Joe Posted March 21, 2007 Report Posted March 21, 2007 According to a skysports article Fernandes wants to make the move permanent Manuel Fernandes says he wants to make his move to Everton permanent. The Portugal international has proved a major success for David Moyes's side since arriving on a six-month loan deal from Benfica in January. Fernandes was the man of the match in the 1-0 win over Arsenal at the weekend and has become a firm favourite with the Everton supporters. The Everton boss has already indicated he is keen to keep the 21-year-old when his current deal expires in the summer. But the stumbling block could be the fee, with Benfica expected to want close to £12m for the midfielder. "I would like to stay in England, and I hope I stay here," Fernandes told the Liverpool Daily Post. "I don't expect to have any talks with Benfica until the end of my loan here. "But when you are really wanted at a place, like I am here at Everton, it is good for your self-confidence and if you feel okay at a place, things are going to be okay." I didn't see this posted anywhere but if it was I'm sorry about that. Quote
Romey 1878 Posted March 21, 2007 Report Posted March 21, 2007 It's good to hear but tbh he's not going to say anything is he? Quote
Joe Posted March 21, 2007 Author Report Posted March 21, 2007 It's good to hear but tbh he's not going to say anything is he?True but maybe if he really didn't like it he just wouldn't say anything, or atleast I hope. For him I think we are the better choice. He might get to play in some CL games with Benfica but overall Everton and the Premiership will make him a better player. Quote
jamiemaher85 Posted March 21, 2007 Report Posted March 21, 2007 He didnt say he wanted to stay at pompey Quote
Dunny the Blue Posted March 21, 2007 Report Posted March 21, 2007 I hope its true!!! He would become a Goodison hero, and by the sounds of it I think he relises that Quote
J*A*C*K*E*L*Z Posted March 21, 2007 Report Posted March 21, 2007 Immense preassure on the borad really as now we know he wants to stay they gots to deliver. Or is he just saying all this to keep everyone as sweat as a nut so he can get the football under his belt to join somwone else>>> who knows. i hope not. Quote
Ian Posted March 21, 2007 Report Posted March 21, 2007 So far I've been very impressed with what I've seen. Very good and comfortable on the ball and can put his foot in when needed. I hope he keeps going til the end of the season and not fade cos so far hes been very good. 12 million is getting battered about which could possibly be the stumbling block. Its a lot of money out of next years kitty, is he worth that much? I would pay 6.5 tops. Quote
Mac Posted March 21, 2007 Report Posted March 21, 2007 Agreed Ian, but it is not a matter of what we are prepared to offer Benfica, but also what someone else is prepared to offer if he continues to impress. We could be dragged into a bidding war (a la AJ). ATB Mac Quote

ATB Mac Yeah that is always the problem isnt it Mac, could possibly see a top 10 club sniffin around (newcastle no doubt <_<) I think we could get him for around the 6-7 mark if there isnt the AJ sort of episode. I hope so cos he looks the real deal. Quote
thebluenose Posted March 21, 2007 Report Posted March 21, 2007 however we wont pay 12mill at once. so i reckon we could get him for an upfront fee of 6or 7 million Quote
MainStandBlue Posted March 21, 2007 Report Posted March 21, 2007 Ye 12 mil is too much for me and i hope we dont get dragged into a bidding war as i would love to see him at Goodison permenantly. But before signing for us i heard that Juve and RS were interested.Fernandes is a class act but I agree with Ian 6/7 mil tops. Quote
J*A*C*K*E*L*Z Posted March 21, 2007 Report Posted March 21, 2007 the reason it is dificult is that were paying 2 partys msi and benfica (6 mill each) so neither of them is gna want to be given less than 6 mill especial benfica as there getting 6 mill witch is a small price in todays market so they will feel riped of anyways. Quote
StevO Posted March 22, 2007 Report Posted March 22, 2007 just the usual talk any player would make imo i hope he stays, he has looked a good player so far, we need the excitement he can bring. but some people seem to get carried away a little, im guilty of it myself. i think anything over £6m would be a bit harsh at the moment. but he is the type of player we need Quote
R2D2 Posted March 23, 2007 Report Posted March 23, 2007 If we can get him it would be brilliant, he is quality but can we afford him? Unless we can do a deal I don't think we will get him as other clubs have more dosh and we need so spread our butter evenly. He's here, let him enjoy his footie and in the meantime lets brainwash him into being a blue. We need another quality player. Quote
Mac Posted March 24, 2007 Report Posted March 24, 2007 Bleep, whistle, click, click, whistle, bleep, bleep, bleep. ATB Mac Quote

xsaint Posted March 24, 2007 Report Posted March 24, 2007 We might pay max of 8M up front and with a possiblities of performance based bonus of 3M over a period of 4 to 5 years,.... if this works out, it seems OK to me provided fernandes signs a 5 year contact with 2 years option. Quote
Mac Posted March 24, 2007 Report Posted March 24, 2007 In the real world, what is a 21 year old midfielder worth?. Exactly what someone is prepared to pay for him is our answer. I would like to think Benfica would be realistic and have a contract where if the player is a part of a successful team there would be bonus payments, If we can get away with £7-9m I would like to think that this is good business. ATB Mac Quote
StevO Posted March 25, 2007 Report Posted March 25, 2007 the hard part is that benfica want paying, so do the guys who own his rights. a bonus based deal may not appeal to both parties Quote
xsaint Posted March 25, 2007 Report Posted March 25, 2007 Now that seems like Benfica took the same approach as what Tavez of west ham is here for. To showcase the players to the english rich clubs so that someone with fat check would grab him for 12-15M million pounds??!! lol Quote
Bill Posted March 25, 2007 Report Posted March 25, 2007 Reds got Mascherano for 1.5 mill, a tempting offer of 2 mill for Tevez might swing it for us. Quote
J*A*C*K*E*L*Z Posted March 25, 2007 Report Posted March 25, 2007 ive herd 10 million threw round a few times on the fee for Mascherano SSn other pople sayin in the middle of matches ect Quote
aaron Posted March 26, 2007 Report Posted March 26, 2007 i too heard that liverpool paid £10mil for mascherano. heard west ham paid £1.5mil when they first got him. Quote
Maghull70 Posted March 26, 2007 Report Posted March 26, 2007 (edited) Reds got Mascherano for 1.5 mill, a tempting offer of 2 mill for Tevez might swing it for us. A few people seem keen on Tevez. If we get him I'll be right behind him but god hes an ugly sod. Like a South American Peter Beardsley. Edited March 26, 2007 by Maghull70 Quote
Bill Posted March 26, 2007 Report Posted March 26, 2007 Class tho, and a good LEFT foot, the talk was of a 20 million fee before they came over here for nowt in that shady deal. Quote
aaron Posted March 26, 2007 Report Posted March 26, 2007 I'd love tevez here tbh. maybe he hasnt hit form enough this season but you dont go shit over night, not unless your james beattie. Quote
StevO Posted March 26, 2007 Report Posted March 26, 2007 dream land if we got tevez! lets push this rumour and see if it gets in the scum or the star Quote
