Because if they Finish 5th and having the large Uefa Rating which they do, and us having a low one, would mean that the Uefa cup 1st draw would most definatly be Everton V AC Milan,

He's saying we should be hoping AC do well because if they finish 5th we will draw them first round.. if they finish 5th then the chances we will have them in 1st round are quite high.

They're a point behind Palermo with a game in hand having given them an eight point start...no problem. And if we do qualify there'll be loads of teams with a much lower ranking than us anyway, certainly no more chance of us playing Milan than anyone else.

 

Lets just qualify first before we start panicking over the opposition eh?

Id love to see what we could do against a team like milan- probly not much hehe but thats why i want everton to be in the competition to play the best. I cant be botherd playing shonini doutchily the whole way through the comp i would like us to get an easy draw to qualify but then get some tuff teams in the knockouts

I don't think there's really much to worry about. The UEFA Cup takes 40 seeded teams in round one and draws them against 40 unseeded teams, so as long as we're in the seeded half we don't have to worry about a preliminary with Milan - or Valencia, or Bayern Munich, or anyone else like that. Everton were still seeded for the UEFA Cup in '05 when they had no points except what being English gave them, and in the most recent club rankings their point total is 23.917 (21.917 for playing in the Premier League, plus 2 for the one win over Bucharest in '05), which would have been good enough to get them seeded again this year (the weakest seeded team this year was Livorno with a score of 22.020).

 

I agree with MikeO, though. It's too early to be worrying about UEFA Cup placements when we're still far from guaranteed of even having one.

I don't really fancy going over to Italy at the moment anyway until they get their loony fans and even loonier coppers sorted out ... I'm too old to have to look over my shoulder just to get into the ground and dodge the baton wielding madmen who are their upright custodians of the law , give me a Millwall away match anyday ...........!!
