Pat
After tghe recent racila tensions, riots & troubles.....whod have imagined the Australian's would have course draw Lebanon...!!!...Testy home fixture that may be. They have also drawn...Bahrain & Kuwait. The bonus for us is they have drawn three middel eastern sides & no sth or sth eastern asian or Pacific sides...meaning less travel 4 Tc etc.

Droobie
Oceana confed has always had to play off with 5th place Sth American conference for a World Cup spot. Then FIFA president said OFC would get an automatic place. This was well and good, since Australia always dominated the top spot in OFC (with crappy competition). But after much protesting and muscle from the South Americans, FIFA turned the Aussies around, bent them over and slipped them one making the top place OCF nation play off with the 5th place Sth American nation again. Australia then lobbied to be grouped in the Asian Confederation (with consent from Asian nations) from this year onwards (last year we still had to play Uruguay as we all know now). This means tougher competition, but potentially an easier route to the World Cup for Australia in future.
