Marcus Bent

Sampdoria are the latest club to be linked with one-season wonder Marcus Bent, according to the Daily Mirror.

Sampdoria believe that Bent has the athleticism to take them into Europe, and are preparing to do battle with Charlton, even rumoured to be prepared to offer up to £3m.

The Mirror also claim that the Italian outfit have already been in touch with David Moyes, who has found himself short of cash since the summer transfer window closed without the purchase of a striker, and will be keen to add funds to his kitty, especially if he can sell Bent at such a massive profit.

Bent impressed everyone on Merseyside last season after joining for just £450,000, but since the arrival of James Beattie has looked sulky and seemed to lose his touch, particularly in front of goal

If anybody comes anywhere near £3M, we would have to be mad not to snatch there hand of for a player we only paid £450,000 for. We got more than our moneys worth out of him last season so any money for him is profit in my eyes.

I am afraid Bent is not really Premiership class to be honest.
