MikeO
Lifted from NSNO... Everton have been linked with Marseille and Ivory Coast centre back, Abdoulaye Meite. The 26 year old, currently playing in the African Nations Cup, said: "I am not taking a decision in a hurry. I have a concrete proposition from a third Premiership club, who is struggling right now. "I want to leave Marseille, I will be in the Premier League, however I am not going to a club just to go. I need to make the right choice, I give myself until January 31 to make a decision.". The other teams reportedly interested include, Bolton, Middlesbrough and Newcastle. If he's going to a struggling club then that restricts it to either Middlesbro or the Bar Codes (who according to the Gruniard are going to sack Ebay item 661329KU874 today) Edited January 23, 2006 by mikeo
LeeTino8
Newcastle boss Graeme Souness has discounted Meite as a target. Souness said: "We need someone who understands the English game and preferably has played here already." Meite has made only 10 appearances for Marseille this season after falling out of favour with coach Jean Fernandez.
