  1. As hard as its been watching the fall from grace from 80's to present day, at least we still have a club to support in the top flight. Look at Pompey/rangers and thank ourselves we aren't in that much shit compared to them. I believe the arse must eventually fallout of the extravagance of the Sky era eventually, and we might just be in a decent position when it does

  2. I'm sorry but some of our football was brilliant tonight and I thought our long ball (hoofing) was actually minimal and was used more as a last resort.

I hate Alex Ferguson, he's a twat and, I've said it before but, I cannot wait for the day he fucks off out of football.

If we get the same results for the next 37 games I couldn't give a fuck what other managers say about our style. Red faced, alcoholic wanker!
  3.

I think the market we are in is getting the best player for the best price. Do I think Mirallas is a perfect player? No, but when you consider the going rates for unestablished young players I think its a great buy. Not to mention if this goes through we would have beaten a top 4 club for a 1st team player.

That's the point I was making lol

  4. Glad we're ahead at half time, they have looked a bit dangerous at times though, so it might be worth trying to get another one of we can to take over there with us. Saying that, a clean sheet has still got to be a priority.

The red card, hmm I'm not sure about that, at first it looked like a foul, and he was the last man, but the replay's not conclusive. Don't see why Saha would have gone down though as he was clean through. Let's just hope that's not gonna be the talking point in about an hours time. ;)

there was definate contact, but it was maybe more a coming together. red card possibly would hae been harsh. however it was a goalscoring opportunity

  5. We have been awful, apart from the move for the goal. Distin's distribution is woeful, and Neville isnt at the races.

Lets hope for a vast improvement in the second half, i wouldnt fancy going over there with this scoreline!

  6. i agree, i only meant that upfront its really only Saha or Yak, which isnt really a choice (im not counting Vaughen or Agard as theyre too inexperienced and Anichbe was never a favourite of mine). At least the midfield there is choice! Even at RB theres competition!

Time for Rodwell to be tried out at the back perhaps? seeing as this is where he has been touted as playing in the future?

  7. The Milk Cup seems to be a precursor for talent which turns into established quality or am I confusing it with other youth tournaments?

No thats correct. It has a great reputation, and has had many future stars of the game play in it. Macheda of man Utd played in last years tournament, then went on to break into the first team. It has also seen Giggs, Scholes, Beckham etc play in it.

Everton always send a team accross, and have had reasonable success, winning their group for the last two years!!

  8. yes I would ultimately prefer home grown players.

I think Vaughny still has massive potential.

Agreed, a fully fit James Vaughan, with an injury free season under his belt would be good to see.

Also i am all for the one big signing a season, its moving us forward slowly, but forward is the key. We have to accept at present times we cant go and blow big money on multiple signings until we get investment.

  9. Totally agree... i thought Yobo would have been the natural person to fill the void at right back. However a clean sheet is a clean sheet. I think the problem wasnt defensively, it was the attacking side of the position that let him down. Didnt Yobo play right back for us at other times in previous seasons?

  10. I have a fourth question for you, what about a good reserve keeper, if you recall nash couldn't hold down the reserve sppot at Wigan and both of the young keepers appear to have big weakness's.

I'll mull over this question before responding in full but I would not object to us losing Pienaar, he is so light weight and narky plus he is not the best passer of a ball I've seen (strictly my own opinion). As for Castillo, simply put he is not a Prem player from what I have seeen of him

i have another question, how does Davey Moyes take us to the next level? I think we can say we are now established as top six, but how do we move forward into the top 4? given that our success is primarily based on being a 'team' with a solid core of english/english speaking players.. and this could be the reason for the high morale and team spirit.

if given money, should he spend? and how should he spend? or does he try and bring through youth talent i.e. Rod and Gos?

    I dont know!

  11. I take your points lads, and i agree silverware is silverware.

However i think UEFA are driving the competition towards being a poor mans champions league. Hence the reason i think its devalued. When we won the Cup Winners Cup, there is no doubt all the european trophies had a certain prestige, in fact at that time we were considered the best team in Europe, and didnt get our chance to prove it. I believe a major contributing factor is the fact that the 4th placed team in each league gets into the premium competition now, and in some cases win it, has brought about this decline. I think that this move by UEFA further devalues what was once a higly prestigious trophy.

Dont get me wrong, i would love to see us beat Liege, and have a great run, but i am reacting to the news released today.

  12. We all would like to be successful in any competition we take part in, however would it really be that big a disaster if we failed to get past Liege next week???

With the UEFA cup being renamed the Europa league next year, would making this years competition be as relevant as winning the Fairs Cup or the Inter City cup in the past?

Lets be honest, these competitions are now confined to history, with bragging rights reserved for current competitons only.

Does anyone know if there is going to be a new trophy to go with the new name?

There would be the obvious slight financial advantage to a long run in the competiton, but on a purely footballing basis a win in the UEFA cup would probably be devalued in the not so distant future.
