  1. Aah your back Wednesday, how have you enjoyed the start of both Sheffield teams, looks like you might have a better season. :) Dont think we will be signing anybody else of a lower stature, We need a couple of TOP CLASS signings. ;)

1st weekend = great beat Burnley 4-1, but as always with Wednesday it was short lived within the space of 72 hours we had lost both of our main strikers and had been dumped out of the cup by Rotherham

    2nd weekend = spanked 4-1 @ Wolves after being 1 nil up

3rd weekend = 1-1 draw with Preston which TBH isn't a bad result seeing as they haven't lost yet

    4th weekend = 1-1 draw @ Swansea which again isn't a bad result.

As usual though it's the off-field stuff that is most worrying. We are in the middle of a takeover (allegedly, I'll believe when i see it) we have absolutely no money which has been highlighted more so recently. In the summer we lost 6 players + loanees that went back, we have signed O'Connor from Burnley for free and Jimmy Smith from Chelsea on loan and that's it. After an injury @ Wolves to Richard Hinds (out for 3 months, 8 in Wednesday terms) with a fractured leg we got McMahon on loan from Boro for a month, the headlines in the local news read "the spending has now stopped" I wasn't aware that it had even started!! ;)

Even teams like Barnsley who were most of the experts tip to go down spent 1.25m on Ian Hume, if this takeover collapses then I dread to think what will happen. We could have Sir Alex down at Hillsborough and it wouldn't make a difference, I mean you can't polish a turd. :)

(Sorry for the rant, i bet you wish you'd never asked now)

ps United will be in the shakeup come May

  2. Someone has posted on Owlstalk that our CB Richard Wood is to sign for you guys on Monday for 1.5m. The link is from Bluekipper, not sure how creditable that site is (obviously I presume some of you do) I registered but when I clicked on the link it was broken.

    Bluekipper

TBH he's not in the same league as what you've got so I find this a bit of a tall story. He's handed in a transfer request today but it's been refused, we all thought it was Coventry that were trying to lure him away.

  3. Another load of bollocks from once-a-blue!!!! To get to the last 16 we had to play 8 games some of which were against decent teams not just against teams noone's ever heard of!!

Yes I accept the standard is lower than in the Champion's league but how can they justify the winners Zenit earning $7.7m when Dynamo Kiev lost all 6 of their CL group games receiving $9m. Basically £400'000 in football these days isn't a lot and when the scum over the park get 50 times as much for reaching the last 8 of albeit a better competition then something needs sorting as it's only gonna get worse!!

I guess the easy way is for us to kick the red shite out and finish 4th ourselves :D

    Evening chaps,

Is there a link/website showing how much each team earnt in Europe last season?

  4. I feel for you Wednesday, It seems like at your club everything that can go wrong is going wrong, and its looking like you are doomed to relegation. Shame cos you were one of the big clubs in the sixties and provided the opposition for us in my first ever and probably the best Cup Final i have ever been to.

1966 blues are 1-0 down at half time 2-0 down with half hour to go, and the rest is history Derek Temple racing away to score the winner after a great comeback, Ohhh the tears of joy i cried on that day will live with me forever.

Thanks that's cheered me up no end :D

What makes it worse is that come the last game of the season, I may have to cheer the team I hate!!

  5.

Can you tell us a bit about him please. Like, would he be a good signing etc?

He's still raw, Laws threw him in earlier in the season due to an injury crisis (for a change ) but he's stayed there. He's been called up to the England U19's recently too. A lanky streak.

In a nutshell he's destined for bigger and better things, rather than staying at a club that is rotten to the core (see my posts earlier in the season regarding the club taking it's own fans to court)

Did I mention I'm not bitter?

  6. SUNDAY MIRROR

"Liverpool and Everton both want young Sheffield Wednesday defender Mark Beevers."

18 year old CB come through the academy, if we go down (which I believe we will) you'll get him for about £8.50 and a set of bibs. Knowing our business sense they'll also be a clause in place that if he plays 10 games or wins a throw in we'll pay you £100,000.

I'm not bitter against my club honest ;)

  7. Couldn't go last night due to work, for anybody who went was 3-0 a fair reflection and does League 1 baeckon :(

Very disappointed with the attendance, but with everything that has happened in recent months who can blame people for staying away (it seems as though they are looking to take action against owlsonline now too!!)

I reckon if this had of been last season there you could have added another 10,000 to the attendance.

    Congrats anyway

  8. Predictable, Jeffers scores a cracker and you hit form just in time to play us....should've seen it coming. Be interested to see what sort of team we put out....though if DM drops Carsley, Neville and Hibbert to bring in "squad" players you'll be in deep trouble ;) .

Wooahh let's not get carried away, we've won our 1st game of the season. :D

Earlier in the thread it mentions "coming on here when we lose" and I must admit I was a bit shocked by some of the comments after Thursday night. As a neutral watching the game I thought that the re-taken penalty changed the game, it was harsh on Everton as it seemed it was the opposition players encroaching not yours. Wether Johnson should have taken the pen at the end is open to debate, ok he has already missed but if he's the pen taker and feels confident then do you take it away from him?

How many do you think you'll bring on Wednesday?

  9. on a positive note for wednesday, saw you yesterday that esajas looks a handful doesn't he...thought he was by far the best player you had out

Must admit I was quite impressed, we'll soon knock that out of him ;)

Just hope he's not another Regi Blinker (remember him, scored 2 on his début and then went down the pan)

  10. Oooh, really pleased with this draw. Im moving to Sheffield in two weeks. nice

Don't worry if you can't get a ticket for the "away" end there will be plenty of empty ones in the "home" end ;)

To be honest I'm quite happy with the draw, you always want a Prem team but somehow feel disappointed when it's a Portsmouth or a Reading.

1 ball earlier and we'd have played the pigs away, right I'm off to have a look at www.unitedite.co.uk to see if Brian Robson's drunken army are already shapening their knives (they're more fickle than us!!)

    :D

  11. Sheffield Wed's are by no means a small club!......And we've lost to those before.

If they want it bad enough and we don't perform, then they can beat us!

I can see Moyes maybe trying a couple of new players/tactics for the game, perhaps

    blood a youngster.

The question is do we want it bad enough? On this season's performances so far I'd say NO. The fans have already started to vote with their feet only 17,500 today which is the lowest league crowd in about 5 years. In fact we never got a crowd so low in League 1 when we finished 16th.

After how last season finished with only 1 defeat in about the last 10 Wednesday fans for once were feeling optimistic about the new season hopefully adding to the squad and trying to push for a playoff place and above. To say we're demoralised is an understatement.

Sorry for being a miserable b***ard but can't seem to find many positives at the minute.

Good win for your boys today.

  12. Nice easy one for you, we're lacking in confidence & quality. The chairman has branded certain sections of the support "Cretins", "Scum" & "Venemous Bitches" at a live press conference, and we've sold or let go better players in Brunt (£3 Million to WBA) & MacLean (Free to Cardiff) and brought in 3rd choice or journeymen players.

If you saw the game today we look uneasy at the back & lack creativity upfront (god I hate football), I'll put you down for a 4-0 win then shall I? :(
