  1. you end up in the same situation then when, hopefully, better players come to the club and timmy's not necessarily in the first XI but has to get on, to the detriment of the team, at least pip is versatile, to play cahill in a position in which he is effective restricts the formations moyes can use. don't get me wrong tim's had a godd season and has served the club well but, and i think most people will agree with me a 442 is preferable in terms of scoring goals and better football, even if we still play a holding midfielder.

but i'm getting off topic, pip is the best captain for everton football club - not just the first team - that we've currently got.

  2. it's not particularly clever, will david james read the OS? no.

    will big harry? no.

is david james the best goalkeeper in the premiership? no

the OS just needs a couple of new stories a day to maintain interest and pompey are interesting to evertonians until after motd tomorrow night.

    it's a story about nothing.

  3. we'd be stupid not to apply

that said this is the first season i can remember that i've thought that we'll qualify for europe rather than hoped we would, even when we finished 4th i was in constant fear of losing every game and ending up outside of the uefa cup places until we were mathematically there

my mindset of pessimism might be changing... anyone else?

  4. is there money to spend though?

seriously, manny and pinaar will cost over £12 mil, nearer 15 maybe depending on what the loan contracts say.

who knows if we're tied in to buying gardner, and i wouldn't have thought grav would be to happy going back, moyes is quite hard nosed sometimes but i can see another million or two going to celtic park.

is big bill going to pull a lot more than £20 million out of the back of the sofa? not on past evidence.

i know moyes is telling him to man up but like licker says we're short in a lot of areas where we'll need to spend about £10mil a player to improve especially with the shite (assuming benitez goes - which seems increasingly likely unfortunately), villa, and city going in for the same players .

  5. can't really see us wining this.

we're definitely missing yobo at the back, and i can see jags really being found out by the spurs forward line, nuno... who knows whether he'll turn up?

osmans still not fully fit, manny too, he had an awful game against chelsea imo, sitting behind carsley most of the time and ineffective there, cahill's suspended, arteta seems to be coming back from his lull but still not at his best, cars is going to struggle against there pace.

and aj leading the charge doesn't inspire me with confidence when you think about the service he'll be getting from midfield

    scrappy game, 0-1, berbatov.

that said i can see us (lescott maybe) popping up with a goal early doors and then maybe holding them out.

  6. without a defensively minded midfielder i think we'd struggle,

all of those players offer more than cars (and i know he's old and will need replacing in the summer and so on) does going forward but a large part of our sucess this season has been not conceeding too often, our defence has been good, but occaisionally prone to lapses (including yobo and lescott) and a big man in the middle relieving pressure when it comes has been important.

  7. sissoko used to be a very good player (when the shite made an 11th hour bid for him and we missed out), can't say i've seen anything of him this season except a bit on tv but he gets slated every time he plays, caught in possesion and gives the ball away, not just redside mates saying that, but on the radio and in the papers as well. something to do with that eye injury is what they're talking about.

i just don't think he would be a worthwhile investment for the club right now, his confidence is probably fucking low, and i don't really think moyes is going to go for a big impact signing in january (not that sissoko would be that), more a hard working versatile player that he thinks will slot in, and on current form i can't see who sissoko would replace to any advantage whatsoever, cars still does a better job in our midfield than sissoko would, and going forward we've definitely got better options. tommy's not had a lot to do this season yet, and i think maybe after a few appearences off the bench he can do a job over the busy next few weeks and during the acn when jags and neville won't be midfield options due to, probably, playing at the back.

anyone honestly see diaby coming permanently? i wouldn't have thought he would, and moyes does seem to take loans with a view to buying later.

  8. we looked very fucking shaky at the back tonight, mostly as a result of poor fullbacks, to be honest it was a very good job that they were shocking in front of goal, howard was solid as usual, but i can only think of one shot on target they had that went anywhere but straight at him.

weakness in the backline (to stay on topic) was very apparent tonight (though i know we were hardly at full strength back there) don't get me wrong i was screaming as loud as anyone when arteta put the penalty in, but to say that everton have no weaknesses at all is frankly bollocks.
