  1. Good to hear that. Just looking at your table you seem a much better side away from home (not like during the "plastic" era  ) so maybe you'd be better off getting another away draw before you go for another big one. Best of luck anyway.

Cheers mate. We haven't won at home since September 29th, although we were close a few weeks ago against Doncaster when the ref gave them an injury time penalty for a foul outside the box. But we've made up for our home form away. We've only lost one game in nine in the league. A few signings should help us get in the playoffs.

  2. oldham are a shit team, they are in league 1 for a reason

how did we not beat them especially at home in Goodison park?

Yeah because if it's not Premiership, it's not football.

We're not a "shit team" mate, you should have more respect for lower league teams. Granted you were expected to win, but the FA Cup is the FA Cup as other people have stated, that's the magic.

  3. Got to give credit to Everton fans, most of the Everton fans I've encountered have give Oldham their dues, and stated we deserved the win, no bitterness, no bitching or moaning. Something which seperates you from most other Premiership teams. A kind fan even showed us the way from the ground to Liverpool Lime Street and we had a good chat with him.

A fan of that red team came up to us said congrats then asked us for some money, we said no, muppet.

  4. I really fancied us for an upset, but missing 4 (maybe 5) first team players that played against Leeds on New Year's Day has thrown that out of the window. I reckon we'll be okay for around 40 minutes and then when we concede one we'll fall apart. 4-0 to you's, enjoy the match.

Fear the latics.. Thats very benevolent of you to say that but i think we may have a lot of players missing also.

I dont think it will be as easy as you think, we usually struggle against the less fancied sides, so i will be happy if we get to 2-0 and then i might enjoy the match. :)

And welcome to the forum, come back after the game and give us your view of how it went.

    Thanks for the welcome.

Well it turned out slightly differently to how I predicted, I'm chuffed to bits. :D We came ready for battle and that's how we won, we battled. Our defence played immensly and coped with everything that came their way. Hughes chased everything down and forced the defenders to concede one or two corners as a result. Our midfield got the basics right and didn't try any fancy rubbish although I feel we gave the ball away a bit easily for the first 20 minutes.

My heart was in my mouth when Yakubu hit the post.

We also came out swinging in the second half with two half chances early on. We weathered the storm, Everton didn't create too many clear cut chances and I'm glad we got the result. Top game, good luck against Chelski.

  6. cashed in? surely you didnt buy anyone decent with all that money!

It's not all about buying flashy players with the cash we receive down here in League One. £200,000 would have gone someway in reducing the clubs expenditure for that season, Latics lose around £900,000 a year. Sales of youngsters such as Spencer is what we "little clubs" survive by.

  7. ...he won't. No direspect intended mate....have a soft spot for Oldham from the Sharpy connection. Just a good draw for us compared to what it might have been, plus at home we can beat anyone B) .

Yeah, no worries mate, as the Premiership team you really should win, that's if you field a Premiership team though......which (with a due respect) I hope you don't. :D

I'm looking forward to the day out, we won't win the cup, it's a good pay day for Latics, if we win it will lead to another payday hopefully, we'll go out at some point, if we play well and it doesn't distract us from out league form then I'll be happy.

maybe we should give scott spencer a start

Isn't he on trial at Yeovil?

If not them it'd be nice for him to get a match against his old club, better have Yakubu and Andy Johnson on the bench though in case Hughesy knocks one or two in and an upset looks on the cards.

  8. Cracking draw. We should get through that no problem and maybe Moyes could throw in a couple of the youngsters. Vidarsson, Boyle and JP Kissock maybe?

Could be a welcome chance to rest a couple with the december we've got ahead of us!

    pleased,good draw

Not quite as good as Havant and Waterloo but never mind, still a nice draw :P

    rofl.

City thought the same a few seasons back, and our squad then was signigifantly worse that this one and we beat them 1-0. You're the favourites, that's no lie , but you'd better hope Moyes doesn't make the rookie mistake of thinking you can breeze past us by playing a lot of your kids.

    I look forward to it. ;) ;)
