Is this the same player that many were calling for his head just recently?
Sorry, Arteta is far too unpredictable to play for England or Spain. Just depends on which Arteta turns up for the game - the one with the brilliance and foresight or the one that loses concentration and just drifts around aimlessly.
At the end of the day last season stats-wise he was the best midfielder in the leage after ronaldo. Never mind names and repuations he can perform when it counts and i reckon he'd step up to the challenge. Unfortuinatly i cant see him playing for spain and with englands sudden burst of form i cant see him pushing his way into englands team either. Besides that arteta playing for england is just ridiculous im pretty sure he was having a laugh.

jagielka... the lads a bloody prodigy
-
wudv sed rooney
-
He's crap in my opinion. Four competitive games in five bloody years!
-
ronaldo is free atm too, i wouldnt touch him. And im not conviced by this appiah lad, he maybe good at footy, but that injury he keeps getting, no thanks.
Yeah remember VDM. Hot from Inter we were all getting excited, now we want him out at all costs.
-
The lad deserves it. Next John Terry, watch this space.
-
Huddlestone isn't good enough yet to the holding role. Hargreaves is much better in that postion and has proven he can deliver on the internatinal scene. As for your front two, again I can't see them working. Both too lightwieght. Aggy does well for Villa with having the massive lump of Carew up front with him. Maybe pairing Aggy and Heskey could possibly work. Also Rooney in centre mid wouldn't work for me.
--------------------James-------------------
Johnson---- Terry ----Ferdinand -----Cole
----------------Hargreaves-----------------
Bentley---------------------------------J.Cole
-------------------Gerrard-------------------
------------Rooney----- Ashton------------
This is the team I would be starting with at the moment. Its harldy perfect, especially upfront. But we have so few very very good choices that its hard to find a brilliant pairing.
At the end of the day Rooney just doesnt score for england. I checked up on this statement and realized I'm right, he's only scored twice in competitive internationals for the past four years. I'm sorry but I know everyone says he's a playmaker but first and foremost he's a striker. Drop Rooney and put Crouch alongside Defoe in my opinion.
-
Whilst mentioning friend Rooney I found it particularly funny when the Citeh Arabs listed all the best players in the world they wanted, he wasn't mentioned.
I can't help believe that if he hadn't has his head turned he would have been a better player with us. That said we would have been about £25 mil worse off hey ho
Yeah when Rooney sold his soul to the Devil he started his long descend down in quality. I mean can you honestly compare his performance in the Euros to his performance last world cup?
-
Sorry Danny it will be four years pal, the prick should be shot on sight mate, take it from me he is the worst signing we have ever made.
The previous holder was a lad called Bernie Wright, an alehouse c/f who attacked Harry Catterick because he got dropped, his excuse was he was talentless and a nutter
Yeah I remember that lad. Scored about twice in about ten games. As for VDM if he doesn't leave we'll need a volunteer from this forum to sacrifice their freedom for Everton and shoot the twat in the head.
-
It could be said that VDM has been a worse siging than Kroldrup, at least we managed to get rid of Per straight away, VDM is here for life.
Very true. Kroldrup went straight away didn't he. Seems like we're never going to get rid of VDM until he wakes up and realizes he's wasted three years not even really playing for a club where everybody hates him.
-
Soon I think the FA will put a limit on how many or how much money can be spent per season as the money being offered at the moment is crazy. How are the lower funded clubs meant to compete with such financial power? I hope Everton remain faithfull though, one of the few true clubs with proper tradition.
The only reason why your very logical and sensible idea is never going to happen is that the FA are getting filthy rich off these massive transfers and investors. There a bunch of selfish bastards.
-
U Reckon he could talk VDM into offering something similar!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 <_<
Van Der Meyde is our worst signing since per kaldrup. In the three years we've had him I've only ever see the lad in action a handful of times. And I've been a Lower Gwladys season ticket holder for seven consecutive years.
As to Saha good man and to be honest as soon as he's fit I'd much rather see him parterning the Yak than Vaughan.
-
Apologies accepted. No grudge held.
Cheers
-
BK doesnt want to sell his toy..for the love of god city now mean biusness they're going to be a force like chelsea where mainly through sheer ammounts of cash they now have..we in the meantime go after has beens
I'm sorry but at the end of the day I'd rather have a man who loves Everton as much as I do at the helm of the club than a foreign investor. We're THE PEOPLES club! Just because Man City have got a billionaire owner doesnt mean we should be calling for Knewright's bollocks.
-
Except you smashed your transfer fee record for a Belgian lad. Are we that crap then? You are downright offensive and I won't have that. I think I behaved in a very friendly, respectful manner and I expect you to behave equally.
Regards.
Fair do's fair do's
I apologise to Liege fans
-
Not what I meant, but you're always a rich man's poor and vice versa. So you can't really complain about Man C getting a lot of dosh out of nowhere when at the same time you buy a player for an amount worth of almost his club's annual budget. Does it put it in perspective?
Yeah but Belgium teams are shit...
15 million is nothing nowadays in the EPL
-
Sick and tired of all this money being kicked around instead of footballs.
All I see on Sky Sports and Setanta is Robhinio! Man City! Al-Fahmin!
When City loose on Saturday to a real team like Chelsea that should shut their fans up and piss off a few oil shieks.
I mean at the end of the day Robhinio was never a god. One player can't tranform a team.
-
Dont want to wreck the party but to be honest I don't really want a billionaire foreign owner taking over the club. It's necessary and if we don't get one in then in five years we'll be playing championship football but at the end of the day this is how shit football has become. United, Madrid, Arseal, Liverpool used to put up the argument that to get billionaire investors you have to win things. What has Man City won? Nothing!
If we want an investor all we can do is try and finish well this season and see what turns up. <_<
-
Good points all
the last one..this time yesterday man city looked to be skint now look at them
Took my breath away that one
To me Man City are a shite team that won the lottery. Something like that on 606 the other day about Chelsea
-
I am one of those blues that at the beginning of the season was sitting in the lower tier of the gladys, booing the team off the field and spreading bullshit on forums about how we were going to have a shite season.
I am delighted to have been proved wrong.
I was at de Standard Liege game and saw how Fellani in arteta-style took Liverpool apart whenever he went offensive, and i don't think i'm exxagerating in saying we've got a second arteta. £15m is a lot of money for him and i am a bit dubious seeing as the only good player we've splashed out on recently and has not disapointed is the yak.
Looking forward to seeing Saha in action, he can act as a supportman for Yakubu and put a few goals a way himself - if he stays fit.
And lastly with Carlo Nash in the team we can sleep soundly knowing we've got an experienced keeper who has proved himself in the top-flight as understudy to Howard, and additionaly we can put Iain Turner back in the resereves where he belongs.
In short, unless something goes horribly wrong and Fellani becomes a second Van Der Meyde, Saha becomes a second Beattie and Nash breaks his leg I can only see things going up very rapidly. COYB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
p.s: David Moyes we love you
pp.s Nice one BK

Ive already posted this comment but i want to again,
There was Never going to be any big signings now due to the stadium shite dragging on, and looking like doubling in cost, neither now or January, trust me!!!!!!
Kenwright was pinning his plans on the new stadium being approved before anything else took or takes place, which is the main reason Wyness has gone.
If the stadium is eventually given the ok there will undoubtedly be new 'investors' lookin to us if you listen to Kenwrights banter, which is very likely (especially from China or the US for efc)
Im fed up with Kenwrights shite, ive had enough for 1, i would much prefer new OWNERS, not investors, Kenwright please SELL NOW
I agree with you although i am hesitant to say kenwright out. He's been at the club as long as i remember, is one of the few british owners and is the only owner in the league not to earn a fixed salary. what i would say is he's a fantastic man who's been brilliant for the club but we need to take the financial side of things to the next level. we cant finish 5th last season and still only have a 50 pence transfer budget, he should sell his shares and retire from football a well-loved man, rather than drag on at the club and turn into the next george gillet

the cockneys said they were gonna wipe arse with everyone this season
definetly going to break the top 4
and now look

looking forward to listening to 606 tonight
we won 2-1 against a decent west brom side with six major players out
if we sign alberto riera we can stick him on the left which gives artera and pienar more of a chance to play centre
with cahill back our midfield options would be: arteta, riera, pienar, cahill, osman, rodwell, gosling and jp kissock
feeling a lot better than this time last week =)
The Turning Point?
in General Everton Discussion
Posted
Wel speaking in hindsight after watching us beat fulham and bolton earlier, i can cheerfully say yes it looks like the point at united was the turning point!
