  1. I think a lot of people on here were over the moon when he signed, even tho nobody had ever heard of him before, maybe a few of our Belgium friends, ooh he must be very good if we paid £15m for him, and any bad performances where glossed over with some of the most ridiculous excuses i have ever heard, He needs to get to know his team mates - He is new to the premiership - Give him a bit of time to settle in, and the best one i ever heard was - He cant speak English. ffs its a game of football thats all.

I think he got a lot of sympathy votes from peeps who hoped he would come good, so much so that last season i made a comment about it which really stirred up a hornets nest, then people complained they should not have to justify who they voted for, and the loudest voices came from those who new they had voted wrong and i still think it goes on, they want so much for him to succeed that i think 50% of his votes are from people who dont even see the games and just vote for his name.

A lot of people have a soft spot for Fellaini, but if you ask me he is only an average player, nothing more, and he needs to shake himself up. When we have a full squad back without any injuries he might just find himself on the bench, or on the transfer list. IMO. ;)

Bit arrogant to say anyones opinion is 'wrong' - If they voted for him it is safe to assume they thought he was worthy - an opinion as valid as anyone elses.

I would swop Arteta and Cahill around, take out AJ & Yobo, add Pienaar and Baines. I think Fellaini was far better when we had no strikers and he was forced up front - he does look lost in midfield sometimes IMO, but was a great asset and caused shedloads of problems for opposition defenders when playing off the striker. He looks to have lost a fair bit of confidence to me.

  2. Gerrard will start for sure, torres probably will as well - even if not fit he is a danger (although hopefull FSW playing him whilst injured will have massive long term effects!).....I was really positive - as i always am, but we were porr tonight in the first have against relegation fodder - and we beat them 4-0 not so long ago....At leasy we may have Pienaar back. Its the 1st derby i have got tickets for (first season as a STH) - and i thought we had a great chance - but i cant see where a win can come from - having said that, anything can happen in the derby - and it could send us on the run we need. Im afraid that if we lose - we could really struggle all season....at the minimum i expect a lot of grit and steel - which a load of girly foreigners should struggle to deal with... COYB

  3. Its a toughie this week - NO-ONE had a good game IMO

Yes, Billy scored and played some great passes - but the number of corners he couldnt get past the first man was awful (resulting in Baynesy taking them later - with much the same results). He isnt blessed with pace and was checking back instead of driving forward, taking his man on and dribbling

Cahill showed some passion but his touch was often way off - although he did well lifting their player off the floor, Osman was poor, Saha unlucky with little service, even the ever reliable Distin made a mistake (not following Doyle)! I thought Timmy H might have got sent off too for raising his hands.

Things did change with the later subs - but i think at home against these type of teams we should be starting with 2 up front instead of inviting them onto us - which breeds confidence for them and their fans. We looked far better in the last 5 mins.

Credit to Wolves - they played well, i dont think we ever really got going.....with Arteta, pienaar and a fit yak we can look forward to battering teams like this, but without them we resort to too many long balls

  4. There was options he pounded it long every time

I disagree - EVERY time we had the ball in defence or even from throws, VERY rarely did any drop back to collect (which Rodwell is usually effective at) and no-one made themselves available or gave options. This continued until we had 2 up front. It wasnt Heitingas best game but then no-one played well. Distin and Yobo both HAD to hit it long - but at least Distin found a team mate on occasion.

From what i could see when rodwell has been playing well the team have performed and we have done well - when he has not had a great game we have struggled - like today and against Stoke. On one hand its great that the kid can run games for us at his age - on the other its not great that we are seemingly that reliant on him - especially given his age. When Pienaar and Arteta are missing we really have little in the way of creativity hence the long balls.

When rodwell, arteta and Pienaar are playing i think we will be playing the nice flowing, expansive football we have previously seen in flashes...
