  1. I was at the game, my thoughts on performances:

Howard - Didn't really have much to do, crucial save in the first half from Di Santo but has to take a share of the blame for their goal

Hibbert - Really struggled, Bousejaur gave him the run around and it was no surprise to see him replaced

Baines - Set up the eqalliser but didn't really do anything else of note

Heitinga - Had a decent game. Wasn't a stand out performance but he barely put a foot wrong.

Distin - Got himself in a muddle to allow Di Santo a 1 on 1, a couple of mistakes thereafter

Donovan - Anonymous. Came to life a bit late on but still a below par performance

Pienaar - By far our best player, everything that was good about our performance came through him.

Gibson - Anonymous. Passenger. Lazy. Brings nothing to the table. Attitude problem. A couple of signs of petulence when he didnt recieve the ball.

Felliani - After good performances v Fulham and Man City, was really poor today. Struggled in possesion and was even worse when pushed forward

Cahill - Started of quiet brightly but quickily faded. Looked a yard off the pace thereafter. I fear that his past injuries have caught up with him and his legs have gone.

Stracula - Not his best performance despite being under pressure to perform with the arrival of Jelavic. He lacked his high work rate and looked jaded.

Moyes - Surprised he brought Distin straight back after the defensive performance against City, was expecting the same XI to start. Continues to show loyalty to players who have perfomed well in the past but simply aren't up to it anymore, ie Cahill. Shocking choice to bring Neville on for Cahill at half-time considering the other options he had available. The fact that we only went 4-4-2 with 10 minutes left and 1-0 down against bottom of the league is pretty soul destrying.

Overall - A really sub-par performance and we still haven't scored more than 1 goal in a league game since beating Bolton in November. In recent weeks we've played Bolton, Blackburn and Wigan, picked up 2 points and scored 3 goals. One positive tho was Jelavic, looked lively and got himself into some good positions but his teammates failed to find him. Hopefully after some time in tarining and some game time they will learn what he's about and he can become a decent player

  2. I didn't rate McFadden the first time around, honestly can't see why we brought him back after 2 serious knee injuries that can only have made him detioriate further. Like othes have mentioned, would much rather see the likes of Baxter/ Vellios get more game time.... and I'd hardly call somebody with 24 goals in 191 games a proven goalscorer

  3. Had a cracking game against a lower division club in the cup as I recall.....can't remember the opposition.

Leyton Orient at home. Game was pay on the door and was sold out. Remember it well as me and my dad where season ticket holders and turned up on the day and was turned away!

  4. Brett Angel should be the first name on the sheet, and Richard Wright edges it for the keeper for me. Him and Gerrard weren't awful though just unfortunate, depending on the time frame id pick Mucha and Westerveldt before them.

Special mention for the trio of football coffin dodgers Gazza, Hughes, and Ginola

I didn't mind Richard Wright, i thought he was decent until he fell out of his loft and injured his shoulder... it was all downhill for hima after, just unfortunate that Nigel Martyn found the form of his life and when he did get a chance the where was the infamous injury at Chelea where he hurt is ankle in the goalmouth on a sign saying "Do not train here"!

  5. How about two swallows?

Any striker with a worse goal record than Emile Heskey can not be left out. Yes he might have scored a couple of goals recently but it doesn't change the fact that he's an injury prone waste of space, and I think im being kind calling him that

  6. Over the years you have followed Everton, who would you place in your worst ever Everton team? (Based purely on their career with Everton and players who got a few games for us)

    Mine:

    Era 1996 - Present

    GK: Paul Gerrard

    DR: Earl Barrett

    DL: Terry Phelean

    DC: Marco Matterazzi

    DC: Carl Tiler

    MR: Peter Degn

    ML: Gareth Farrelly

    MC: Claus Thomson

    MC: Alex Nyarko

    FC: Victor Anichebe

    FC: Michael Branch

Subs: Steve Simonsen, Richard Dunne, Idan Tal, Li Tie, Nick Chadwick

  7. I need a little help here, I seem to remember (but theres every chance that 've made this up!) that the club attempted to change the the theme that the team run out to from Z Cars. If I haven't made this up, can anybody remember what theme was tried. It would have been any time from the mid to late 90s and the Walter Smith era, I think it only lasted a couple of games if that.

    Thanks

  8. I think he just needs to work on his fitness. The lads got determination and wants to prove what he can do in England. I think once he gets a couple more games under his belt he will show us exsactly what he can do. Remember, hes a strong bloke, hes tall so hes a target man and someone to hold up the ball for our midfield, plus he's proved he can score at Tigre.

I'd rather give him a run of games than Saha, agianst Bolton he ran himself into the ground, may not be the best technically but he looks committed and gives it is all, which is more than can be said of Saha of late. Give him time, he's a young lad whose been dragged half way round the world and i doubt he can even speak proper english, it's not gonna happen over night for him

  9. Everton No. Name Position 24 Tim Howard Goal Keeper 18 Phil Neville Defender 5 Johnny Heitinga Defender 34 Shane Duffy Defender 3 Leighton Baines Defender 9 Landon Donovan Striker 4 Darron Gibson Midfielder 25 Marouane Fellaini Midfielder 10 Royston Drenthe Midfielder 17 Tim Cahill Midfielder 8 Louis Saha Striker Substitutes 1 Jan Mucha Goal Keeper 28 Victor Anichebe Striker 7 Diniyar Bilyaletdinov Midfielder 11 Denis Stracqualursi Striker 14 James McFadden Striker 19 Magaye Gueye Striker 27 Apostolos Vellios Striker

Aston Villa No. Name Position 1 Shay Given Goal Keeper 2 Alan Hutton Defender 5 Richard Dunne Defender 6 James Collins Defender 3 Stephen Warnock Defender 21 Ciaran Clark Defender 19 Stiliyan Petrov Midfielder 12 Marc Albrighton Midfielder 7 Stephen Ireland Midfielder 11 Gabriel Agbonlahor Striker 9 Darren Bent Striker Substitutes 22 Bradley Guzan Goal Keeper 10 Charles N'Zogbia Midfielder 16 Fabian Delph Midfielder 20 Robbie Keane Striker 24 Carlos Cuellar Defender 25 Barry Bannan Midfielder 38 Gary Gardner Midfielder

  10. My predicted line up...

    Howard

    Neville - Duffy - Hietinga - Baines

    Donovan - Felliani - Gibson - Bilyaletdinov

    Saha - Anichebe

I'd be tempted to swap Bily for Drenthe and give Stracula and/ or Vellios a go up top. Can't possibly do any worse than Saha and Anichebe.

  11. 1.Why Everton and how long have you supported them?

Both my dad and grandad support Everton, took me to my first game. Supported them for 16 years (I'm 23)

    2. Everton and Villa seem to be a mirror for each other at the moment, both Clubs being careful with finances and both have been plundered for some of our better players by the big boys, what do you think the future holds for both Clubs if the current pattern continues?

Probably more of the same, we'll continue to fall behind the so-called big boys unless we get serious investment. How far behind we fall depends on the investment in the teams around us

3.David Moyes was touted a while ago as a replacement for Sir Alex Fergerson when he retires, but in the last few seasons this has tailed off somewhat and i have also heard some Everton Fans calling for him to be replaced!! what are your feelings in this matter?

Cannot argue with what he has done for the club, but I feel he's gone abit stale tactics wise and shows too much loyalty to players who have performed well for him in the past but simply aren't good enough any more. Some of his substitutions leave alot to be desired. He's allowed the squad to become inbalanced over the years which has led to our distinct lack of a creative player and a decent striker. Time to move on for me.

4.Everton were reportedly a target of a recent buyout by the Qatar Investment Authority along with Blackburn Rovers, what do you know about this and how would you feel about becoming one of the "Money" clubs in the Premier League considering how Man City and Chelsea have been demonised?

Wouldn't agree with it. Wouldn't want to sell our soul and risk bankruptting the club in the future. Rather sit tight and wait for a better business proposition. Id rather have a chairman like Arsenals than have Citys or a Chelseas.

    5. Louis Saha was recently racially abused on twitter, John Terry is facing criminal charges for comments he allegedly made to Anton Ferninand and Louis Suarez has been banned for racially abusing Patrice Evra, why do you think these incidents have reared their head again? and what message do you think Liverpool FC sent out with their support of Suarez?

I think one high profile incident has sparked it all, kind of like waiting for a bus, you don't hear of one for a while then a few happen at once. The fact Liverpool supported Suarez and then didn't appeal was a joke.

    6. The Transfer window is upon us once again, what players do you think Everton should sign working within the tight budget that Moyes has? and who would you like to see shown the door and why?

We've signed Darron Gibson today, I'm sceptical as to wether he's actually better than what we've got. We desperately need some creativity and a goalscorer. We've got an ageing squad so I'd listen to offers for a few players. I'd also consider offers for Baines/ Jags/ Felliani and Rodwell if we could get big money, but only if that money was reinvested in the squad. Saha has to go, doesn't look interested.

    7. What are you feelings and thoughts about Aston Villa and its Fans?

I've watched a couple of Villa games this season and they have looked abysmal. Almost as bad to watch as they where in the John Gregory era

    8. What you you think of the uproar that the appointment of Alex McLeish as Aston Villa Manager and how do you think he has done thus far considering all the goings on at the Club over the last 18 months?

Made a massive mistake appointing him, I think it won't take alot for the fans to turn on him due to his Birmingham connections. N'Zogbia so far looks like a poor buy. Underperforming given the players you've got. Some of the performances under McLeish have left alot to be desired - ie Arsenal, Liverpool and Swansea

    9. If you could take one Player from Aston Villa and sign him for Everton who would it be and why?

Darren Bent, scored goals wherever he's been. Just what we need. If N'Zogbia played to anything like his best I'd take him too.

10.Which Teams will finish in the top four and bottom 3 of the Premier League this season?

Top - City, United, Spurs and Chelsea

Bottom - Bolton, Wigan, Wolves (Keep an eye on QPR under Hughes and I think Fulham could struggle )

    11. Who will finsih higher this season? Everton or Aston Villa?

Everton, simply becasue Villa have more tougher away days

    12. And finally Match Predictions?

0-0, 1-1 or 1-0 either way. Bonus points for suggesting it will be the worst game of the season?

  12. I'm an Everton fan (obviously) and what to go to Wigan away at the begining of next month, I have 1 away match stub (Sunderland away) and about 64 credit points. I know we usually take a good crowd to Wigan, in previous seasons have tickets gone on general sale or have they sold out before they go on general sale?
