  1. YES, I said last night when all the links to the belgium press was giving the 16 million euros fee, and 90.000 thousand euros salary £70 thousand pounds is a lot of money for us to pay.

Most of the other players are only on half of that, so i can see this causing a bit of discontent. (jealosy) i fear there may be a few players knocking on the managers door. <_<

PS .. ARE YOU SURE THATS PER MONTH, COS IF IT IS THATS VERY CHEAP. ITS ONLY HALF OF WHAT THE OTHER PLAYERS GET.

Although it is quoted net as mentioned earlier in the the thread so would collate to approximately £30,000 a week gross which is about right for us.

  2. Haha. I wouldn't go that far! I'm sure we could get you a beer in though! You get to sample the delights of warm flat Chang. Lovelly stuff.

I realise the above was sarcastic but do I remember rightly from last year that there was no beer sales at the UEFA games or is that my memory playing up?!

  3. a bit off-topic, but just got curious as hell.

    Why have Latin mottos???

English is not a Latin based language, like portuguese, spanish and italian, so what's up with that??

Because Nil Satis Nisi Optimum is the clubs motto and has always been in latin not quite sure of the origins but means "nothing but the best is good enough" and is shown on the clubs badge.

    Hope that helps ;)

  4. ACN is every 2 years.

Presume as Inter already had a stake in the player they executed their right to buy out the rest of the contract as this means that they will doubtless make a profit on the fee that has been set in the loan deal.

He looks very promising but I will still not be 100% confident about it until it is on a more reliable source

  5. Think he could be a great signing for us if he comes to play football and gets back to the way he was at City. I really rated him when he was there but his attitude since he moved to Chelsea has for me been disappointing. Seems to me he was more hapy to sit on the bench and collect the money rather then furthering his football career, so it is a bit of a gamble but not one I would be adverse to.

  6. Also ITV sports team of Clive Tyldsley etc. He's so biased towards United (Or anyone playing Liverpool I've found) it's ridiculous. The Standard Liege commentary and Arsenal-Liverpool last year also nearly prompted me to write a complaint.

In fairness watching the liverpool v Standard game I did not feel that the commentary was biased in anyway both of them said that the penalty should not have been awarded when the handball was clearly outside the box. What I believe you have taken to be biased was an honest account of the game. This meant that the English commentators admitted that the Belgian team were better on the night and deserved to take a lead to Anfield. I personally cant see anything wrong with this. It is similar to when we were outclassed in Fiorentina last year the commentators said we deserved nothing and that was the case.

In my opinion there are no worse broadcasters than David Pleat, Graham Taylor or Alan Smith.

Have a look at the man of the match poll!!!! guessing blues have been on there!

Thought the game today was poor but the conditions were awful, AJ ran his socks off for the whole game and took his chance well although we could have done with the ball stickin a bit more.

Although the way we were hoofing the ball was frustrating, I prefer that, given the pitch, than underhitting backpasses!! Agree totally that the right decision was not to play fernandes today would not have suited him.

For me MOM would be Joleon as I thought he dealt well with there centreforwards and the goal was a nice addition.

  8. I know its on telly and that but is any1 goin on Sunday, will be the first away game been to for a while although i cant see the atmosphere being that great at a half empty JJB looking forward to it, away support is quality!

  9. Everton to sign Freddy Adu on loan, Freddy is currently playing for Real Salt Lake in the USA. Everton play them in a pre season friendly in a couple of weeks, Freddy is unhappy with their current league postition. Freddy is ready!

From football-rumours.com prob most unreliable site there is!! at least its a refreshing change from the usual suspects!! No chance of this happening would not get in the side imo.

  10. Although I hope that we do manage to add some quality to the squad for the forthcoming season, I think that the management may have actually made a shrewd move in spending the money last season. This is due to the fact that they knew that every club in the league would have a lot more money to spend this summer than they did last.

This has caused an increase in player prices and looking at what we bought for the money

    Andy Johnson 8.6 million

    Joleon Lescott approx 5.5m

    Tim Howard 3m

With the way prices seem to be in this window I think we would have had no chance of signing three players of this quality if we had delayed until actually receiving the money.

I agree we still need to strengthen and create some depth in the squad but dont believe that there can be any criticism levelled at the management for spending the money as they did.

  11. 2 years ago did a 8 week coaching course for football out in Calgary, Canada, primarily coaching 15-16 year olds but helping with local sides as well, there are undoubtedly gifted footballers out there, they are technically very gifted, a lot of teh footy they play is small sided due to the snow ruling out outdoor games and Calgary soccer dome is better than any indoor facility I have ever seen over here, think this could be a good chance for the club to unearth some god talent as when I was over there the profile of teh game was certainly on the up for males ands Calgary had just entered there first professional side, let's hope good comes of it.

  12. My uncle is a season ticket holder at Palace and from talking to him he does not seem to think that Turner is at the standard required to keep in the Prem atm he says that his shot stopping is very good and natural reflexes are brilliant but he says that he tends to be a bit unsure on bossing his area and when to come for the ball on crosses or to let the defence deal with it, saying that he believes that this will improve and that he is a real prospect but not quite at the stage where he is ready for the first team.

  13. A Brummie is a person from Birmingham, a City Brummie is a follower of BCFC. On this site I am going to go with Brummieblue as an Evertonian from Birmingham.

    Mac

That is spot on Mac, although they do call themselves Bluenoses as well so i have to be careful not to use that one.

Having a nightmare trying to get hold of EFC rang the club and they said i needed to email boxoffice@evertonfc.com did that yesterday explaining that I wnat tix for the game and how do i get them at about 4 yday and still no reply at this rate will have to sit with all the home fans, not impressed at the clubs rate of response!
