  1. Why don't we use the players we have bought for there position. My biggest annoyance is with Lescott he is an amazing defender and not half bad left back. But with valente/boyle fit and baines coming back this weekend please can we play lecott in the position we bought him for. Stubbs is good in the air and reads the game we'll but he does not have the pace and acceleration with the ball that both lescott and yobo have. I think with hibbs and baines at full back and lescott and yobo in the centre baring injuries we should get them playing together. My other point is Jags and piernar why are cars and nev getting in ahead of these two. It would worry me if they were not better than the cars nev paring

Pienaar didnt look too clever in his last outing. I'd much rather Carsley. However I agree about Jags, would rather have him in the team than Neville. But with Neville being the captain I cant see that happening too soon.

STILL, we cant go complaining one season about having no depth to the squad and now complain that the players weve bought arent all playing.

  2. Well knock me over with a duster!!!! It was beginning to look like the transfer that would never happen. Well, for me, although he is expensive, I look forward to seeing him play in royal blue. He should have come a couple of years ago.

Should be succesful at EFC. (well, couldnt be any worse than Beattie, god bless him). Yakubu is more of a "proper" centre forward (more so than AJ). Yakubu and AJ would be a good partnership. I'd be surprised if Yakubu doesnt end up being our top goal scorer this season (should we agree terms and get him to sign).

I know I'm getting ahead of myself a bit but it is good news. :)

  3. A great many Evertonians I know, and RS for that matter, were surprised when Moyes didn't get out the cheque book for Nugent. Moyes stuck to his guns over the valuation fee and free spending Pompey came in and snapped him up. I personally thought it a shame as the lad has shown promise for club and country and is the type of player everyone thinks would link well with AJ.

However, recent development have been very interesting, so has Moyes's intuition yet again been bang on. Why would any manager spend £6 million on a striker and then look to offlaod him within weeks? Has Harry seen something he doesn't like? Something doesn't quite fit about this.

I know some people will say it is purely that Harry is trying to land the Yak or even Anelka and is using Nugent as bait.

Whatever the reason, it does make you wonder what has happened at Pompey to want to offload Nugent so soon after buying him.

What does anyone else think?? Does someone have any inside info perhaps???

Firstly let me say rightout that I DONT KNOW. But I have heard he was promised first team football but it seems he is more than likely going to be used from the bench and he's unhappy (perhaps there was a clause in his contract). If this is the case seems like unprofessional behaviour. If he was at Everton he would not be in the first eleven every week. Especially now that Boro have agreed a fee with EFC regarding YAKUBU.

  4. but its round?!

personally i thought one fo the bonus' of Kirkby was we would have the space to create any design stadium we wanted - eg a proper 4 sided stadium that would create a cracking atmosphere like GP

Even have the space around it to one day perhaps open up the Everton museum with the David France collection?

Not just any old round design that would just fit in the space.

I dont think the noise in oval stadiums are a match for 4 sided ones personally and especially a stadium surrounded by a ring road is not my cup of tea im affraid.

And as for the hotel, who would want to stay in that surrounded by a busy loop road!? .. thats crazy thoughts.

Saying that tho i'd still watch us wherever go :) .. and would no doubt still use the hotel lol

The round design is just an IDEA of what Bestway had in mind.

APPARENTLY the "initial site plan from HOK Sport was for a standard four-sided ground located within the Loop site with pedestrian access encircling the stadium allowing supporters to circulate around the outside".

The initial study was for 48,000 capacity but concluded that 55,000 was possible. (So I hear).

  5. thought are full backs left us right open today valente and hibbo looked like a pair of jokers, Anchiebe went off but its not like he was doing anythink good.

thought the wiser option today would have been to bring in jags in a straight swap for yobo.

mcfadden looked bright when coming of the bench so id start him ahead of victor even if he is fit or (yak if signed)

dont ever start valente again now baines is back and fernandes should be thrown in also imo

all being said i thought we wernt good enough today but on the same note thought we were unlucky hitting the post ect and they didnt have many shots on goal either or returned the susstained amounts of preasure we put them under.

Strange about Valente, he looks ordinary but you have to think he must be decent to get in the Portugal side.

Vic had a couple of good touches but still gets knackered too quick. Probably more useful when used as a sub (which is what will happen if this Yakubu thing happens).

  6. As the result reading 1 Everton 0 sinks in,a few things are happening!

The optermist(were going to have a fantastic season) sinks back in his chair, thinking OH!

    what has gone wrong......

The pessimist(things are bound to go wrong soon, were crap) sits forward in his chair

ready to tell everyone he was right all along....

AND!.....The realist(this is Everton....let's just see what happens) takes stock!

Yes we had a great start(two games!!!!).....but how many people still believed, that

what we really needed was Fernandes!.....Baines! and a new forward to replace the

PROSPECT!..that is Anichebe(for that is what he is,his best is yet to come)

Fernandes to create and take pressure from Arteta, who can't do it for us every game.

Baines to solve that bloody left back position.

Maybe the YAK!.....To help AJ and gives us some more options.

So Reading who are no mugs hung on in the end!....if the above is correct it was against

an Everton team missing....Cahill,Yobo,Baines,Fernandes,Vaughan,The YAK?...who should

be at least within the squad.

Both Spurs and Wigan won again today!.....so the wins against them weren't as some

    have said easy games.

Some people thought we might blow the wigan game and maybe get a point....lose at

Spurs and perhaps an away point at Reading would then have seemed ok!!!!

THAT would have been two points!......weve got 6 points!!That ain't too bad,is it realists

    is it?

Moyes if he get's the two players he wants this week, and if Baines is fit, will have to fit it

all together........and when Cahill and Vaughan are ready, theres more work to find the

best eleven.....BUT,that could be a pretty good eleven.

Reading worked hard today, never gave us much time on the ball. But we Shouldve got a draw out of the game, still plenty of teams will go there and lose this season.

Our squad looks strong this season, I am more confident of a decent season this time around than I have been for a while (but I am possibly setting myself up for mega-disappointment there), Time will tell.

McFadden looks up for it. Was deffo more of a threat than Vic (although he did OK himself).

  7. we got 2 today mcfaddy did aswell

Yeah, I thought there was a second one BUT I was still correct as I said "we got our first yellow card today" (Lescott) just so happens that it was followed by a second. ;)

  8. Not a good overall performance.

Arteta was poor by his standards.

BUT McFadden showed enough to earn a start next game.

Pienaar showed he needs to improve a hell of a lot if he wants to get in the side. I know its early days but if thats all he has to offer he wont see much action and will be going back to Germany.

That Bikey bloke for Reading had a great game, had the measure of AJ.

Oh, and we got our first Yellow card of the season (Lescott) which seemed a bit harsh to me.

  9. I bet youre expecting me to have a moan BUT I think its worth metioning that the REFS have actually been impressine for our 2 games so far, especially Mark Clattenburg v Wigan.

    AND

We are yet to be given any Yellow cards which I find quite amazing.

Anyway I just thought I'd mention the refs while theyve been good coz we all know it wont last.

  10. After the Wigan game a post of mine questioned "why we played the long ball so much" and that we should keep it on the floor Etc.

What did I get in response? "we won be happy" "the long ball game is a good tactic" "Wigan are no pushovers" "Its one of Moyes' tactics" Etc Etc.

Now I find a thread about "long balls being a waste" AND many replies supporting this theory, I despair!

My point a few days ago was that we were playing WIGAN at home, and shouldnt need to resort to long balls.

Spurs away I would expect some long balls.

I fail to understand why some would defend long balls at home to Wigan and have a go at the long ball tactic Away at Spurs.

Wasn't it a long ball out of defence that sent Geoff Hurst away for "that"goal in the 66 world

cup final?....Plus numerous other things have been won with a"long"ball forward!!

Every team plays them now and again.....LIVE WITH IT!!

Sure at the moment with tiny AJ and Anichebe who at the moment isn't handling them that

well,it's not really working out that well,BUT!.....I guess you might be the first to moan when

Stubbs or Neville try to take full control of the ball and and do some wonderfull skill with it

before making a killer pass..........only to lose the ball under pressure and concede a goal!

Next thing you know the forums full of "just fuc%ing blast the ball forward.....stop playing

    about with it".

Untill the whole team is ready to play the ball out every time, the long ball will continue!

As said it's not really working out too well at the moment......but hey!were winning.

Question!.....What if we bought a forward who was excellent at holding the ball, laying off

and flicking on!!....AND we came up against a team who it was obvious couldn't really handle

the "long ball".......What do we do?...NOT play the long ball because it's not nice to look at?

try and go through midfield because it's the way football should be played?

Come on!....Some times the long ball works......Just ask Geoff Hurst!

My comment of "Spurs away I would expect some long balls" suggests that I am not totally against the long ball tactic. Ofcourse they have a place and are a good tactic v some teams or in the last 5 or so minutes when chasing the game. My problem was that we used it too much at Home v Wigan, and I cant understand why that was overlooked yet v Spurs people are complaining about our long ball tactic.

    The mind boggles!!

  12. ino its early in the season but if andy johnson carrys on lik he did yesterday then we are in serious trouble! he is our centre forward y in gods name does he dilly dally on the wing and supply crosses. we need him in the boxs on the end of crosses if i moyes i wud be telling him to stay centrel and let other people do the crossing i found him very frustrating yesterday. your views please?

Correct me if I'm wrong but our 2nd goal was from an AJ cross (albeit not from a wing position). But perhaps therein lies your answer.

My question would be why does he "dilly dally" in the box? in the 2nd half the ball came to him on the edge of the 18 yard box, he had a bit of time but it seemed he didnt know what to do and the chance was lost, schoolboy stuff.

I like AJ but more for his running and work ethic, I would have him in the team any day but I dont think he's that fantastic a centre forward. (certainly not as great as many blues make him out to be). We deffo need someone else coming in to the club to be our main forward (especially now that Vaughan is injured and Victor let everyone know he is a lazy git).

Perhaps I'm being a bit too critical of AJ coz I used to play in the centre forward position (well, preferred there but wasnt always picked for that pozzi). I hope he proves me wrong but I cant see him scoring too many goals, especially if EFC persist with this long ball thing.

  13. nearly fully agree with you

how was anichebe a joke, usually he so lazy bu at least he was holding the ball up beta

osman was a joke, apart from his goal he was shittt, i really dont rate him

he kept cumin into CM when he was ment to be playin on the wing

arteta was amazing seen when he ripped all the wigan team an got brought down in the box

peinarr was decent, all hibbert was doing was kickin it up, i rekon we shud play jagielka there against spur's

we cant play with neville an carsely CM we are to defence we need a attacking CM

    poor game

    bu win is a win

FOR ME Phil Neville just isnt good enough for us. Osman, while not fantastic will be used more as a bit part player as the season progresses and I think will prove useful in the end.

Arteta and Lescott were our best v Wigan.

Not a convincing win though. WHY do we hoof it long so much. Keep it on the ground for gods sake. We look good when we do that and we were playing WIGAN, so I ask again WHY hoof it high and long? We should run rings around that rabble.

Happy with the win but if we play like that v Spurs we wont be taking 3 points.

  14. Yes they are, a business plan is being prepared over the next month and could potentially be a better deal financially. Delaying the vote until we took a look at what was on offer would have been ideal, fair & in the best interest of the club IMO!!

I was once pro-Kirkby now I'm really hoping its a "NO" because I like the sound of the loop site. It simply makes sense for us to move there.

Now I know exactly what a "swinging voter" is.

  15. For me probably v the red shite at Anfield 1991. Was in London at the time and made the trip up expecting a win. We were never in the game and got thumped 3-1. That was the first time I'd been to Anfield and have to say Goodison is way more impressive.

Apart from that, Wolves at Goodison in 1981 (or was it '82). Think they were already relegated & we could only draw 1-1. That was my first Bullens Rd experience and at the tender age of 12 I much preferred the Upper Gwladys St Stand. OK not really depressing I suppose but certainly disappointing (if only on a personal level).

AS for other games SURELY the most depressing one of all would be Oxford, 1986.

(ooh, actually the 1977 FA CUP semi final would come pretty close).

  16. If we vote yes the Kirkby deal is go as long as the other obsticals are overcome, I'v heard a rumour that LCC actually have first refusal on the land before Knowlsley can sell it to us, there is also supposedly a list of delaying tactics as long as your arm from the Kirkby residents association.

Vote no and the deal isnt dead at all afterall the board can do what they want in reality so the only real victory a no vote may win is making the board realise we wont be blinded into believing the "no plan b" statement. I think the major aim of a no vote is to open the discussion before a final decision is made and then we will move to the most achievable site with the best budget which could still turn out to be Kirkby.

I have also heard it rumoured that part of the condition of sale for the proposed Knowsley site is they will recieve a percentage of stadium revenue along with the land lease!

    Cheers for the info.

    Your statement of

"the major aim of a no vote is to open the discussion before a final decision is made and then we will move to the most achievable site with the best budget which could still turn out to be Kirkby".

Totally makes sense. If that message can be put across to the current "YES" people, then I'm certain a NO vote would be recorded.

  17. Ok so we vote yes, the ball starts rolling, the exclusivity agreement ends and several achievable, affordable & maybe better proposals are put forward. The club says we've asked the fans and they want Kirkby are you going to be happy with the vote you cast??

DOES ANYBODY KNOW what will happen if we vote YES. Will it mean we dont look into any other proposals?

AND if we vote NO. Will Kirkby be dead forever or could it be revived if it turns out that the other options turn out to be unaffordable or whatever.

    This vote should be postponed.

I was previously edging towards being pro-kirkby. Now I just dont know. The bestway deal sounds better by the day. Just need some figures to back it up. This sounds like it could be the way forward.

I think we should do away with any idea of redeveloping Goodison, its just not going to happen, best to concentrate all your efforts on this bestway/loop site.

    Goodnight!
