Named Coventry city's young player of the year.
Unofficially, player of the year: the captain won the official version, so probably not acceptable for a loanee to win their main award:

Coventry Telegraph Player of the month at Coventry City in his first month of loan there. Been playing RB, but last match played CB against Walsall for a 0-2 win.
According to coventry fan reports he was excellent in that position.

The youngsters look like they defend as well as the seniors, so it's good to know we really do play the same way all throughout the age brackets .
I think you will find that there were two goalkeeping howlers, which caused the two against them. Not really a defender problem, I don't think.

Don't want any of our youth prospects near Leeds
Not sure of the logic of this...is that because a chance at first team championship football would be a bad thing??
-
Isn't Hope a striker?
Are you saying the first team don't need a good one?? :-)
There's only so much room on the bench for rookies, is my point.
-
oh dear. Both subbed at half time against Wales, at 4-0 down. :-(
I thought Jasper didn't deserve that, perhaps one of the centre halfs should have gone instead.

Jasper Johns, i am sure he is a gay american artist who had a fling with robert rauschenberg (another artist)
P'raps that's why nobody calls him that. He's 'JJ'. And he's very good. Bought from Port Vale last year as a 14yr old.

Poor Ross Barkley. I heard he is expected to be out 8 months, which is a lifetime at this age. Hopefully he will be mentally strong enough to overcome this.
Maybe Hallam Hope will get an earlier chance as a result. Sometimes there is a silver lining.

Abe Donzo is back at Finch Farm now. He played a little in the U16's against City last weekend (lost 3-0, unfortunately).
I believe he is overage for the U16s. He's not fully match fit at the moment, I would say. Still, maybe a good prospect if he can pick up his speed again.
-
Hallam has been in action again for the U18's last week (25/7/09). He's now pretty much a regular for them.
Then was on standby for England U17's but wasn't called up for the Norway tournament.
Playing again for his usual age group (1994's) in the N.I. Milk Cup. Which Everton won again for the second year running.

Hallam's usually playing u-16s at the moment. He's at the Nike Cup next week (April 5-9/2009) with a 1994's squad. Not heard that he has had any U-18s games.
Hallam played for the 18's last week. he's still 15. Scored one. 5-2 win against Middlesborough (I think - didn't see it - just heard he played) Apparently reported in the liverpool echo.
-
Btw what is that Milk Cup? Is that some junior championships in England? Or some are territorial tournee? Ive heard that name earlier from somewhere and think its well known and respected.
-
Ross Barkley struck in the second game of the Montaigu Tournament last night. Beat UAE 3-0.
you're right. not against Germany at all. Duff info.
-
Are there any other names too look out for in the future in that team?
Hallam is the one who is standing out from the crowd in the born-in-1994 group at the moment, and has done for the last few years since he arrived at Everton, having been released (iirc) from Man City - where he was - choke - a centre half...
...nice to know other clubs misjudge young players best positions too :-)
Of course from his U15's year group we already have Ross Barclay (captain? i think) and Jake Bidwell (scored) in England U16's action against Germany this last week, so I think with 3 hopefuls from the 16 or 17 strong U15's squad they aren't doing too bad...

I know nothing about the Nike Cup, where is it played?
Is it the one rebranded as the Manchester United Premier Cup?
Yes, played at Warwick Uni. Its the UK qualifier for the MUFC Premier Cup, to be played in August. Finished today 9/4/09. Our lads got through to the final, which ended 0-0 and then we lost 8-7 (!!) on penalties. Everton outplayed the winners (imho) West Brom, but it was not to be.
Group stages matches were:
Arsenal 1 Everton 1
Fulham 1 Everton 1
Coventry 0 Everton 3
Sunderland 0 Everton 2
QF: Sheffield Utd 0 Everton 2
SF: Fulham 1 Everton 2
The above from memory, so maybe not 100%.
Hallam played really well during the tournament, as did the rest of the EFC boys.
He was the talk of the tournament - so I imagine England U16's will be next for him.
Now for the Milk Cup at the end of July when Hal will be there again, with luck.

has anyone heard about this lad this year.he was part of the u-15s squad that won the milk cup last summer and he got rave reviews.thought he would have possibly played for the u-18s by now?

No idea.... the official site isn't exactly helpful when it comes to the academy/scouting network.
I don't believe that Ray Hall's position was under any threat in 2007. His 'claim to fame' is that he has headed up the organisation that has generated over £50m quids worth of sales of young players, including the obvious name, in the last 10 years of his presence at the Academy.
That's not mentioning the players who are with the first team still. (Anichebe, Vaughn, Hibbert, Osman etc)
Sure there have been some misses too (Jags, Barton etc) ... but that's football...
-
Didnt we let Barton go because he was too small? Does that mean Messi is too small then aswell, seems him an JP are similar in height?
I believe we let Barton go because he couldn't control his temper...
I understand it was a certain S Gerrard who was too small for Everton...

Tony Mowbray really seems to want him at Coventry:
