They reckon we are too physical!
Ha ha! With the world smallest midfield! Proper hard eastenders those hammers!

The team has played 19 games since he made his début on 9/1, and he's made it onto the pitch for 16 of them. He has so far:
8 goals in 10 EPL appearances (8 starts, 2 subs)
1 goal in 6 UEFA Cup/Carling Cup appearances (all starts)
Total: 9 goals in 16 games in all competitions
We might wish the distribution was a little more balanced, but it's hard to argue with someone who's scoring at a rate of better than a goal every other game.
8 starts resulting in 10 goals is pretty sweet!
It would suggest that his game (our perhaps that of the midfield) is more suited to the premiership than Europe. Do you think he can make it on the european stage?
-
how many has he scored and how many games has he acctualy played??
in all comps
Something like 9 premiership goals in 14 starts.
-
You can't really argue with his goals per game record can you?
Well done Yak.
-
Are we just going through a good patch or can this team really achieve things?
So many false dawns before but there seems to be such momentum at the moment.
Playing at our best we can compete with anyone its just the consistancy that worries me (based on what we've done before0.

He's got the ability he just looks very nervous.
Not suprised with a non-existant midfield in front of him and a third rate manager.
He seems to get pulled out of position a little bit though
He certainly wasn't a 3 out of 10 last night. That's very harsh.
1 goal was goalies fault
2nd goal was everyone's fault
3d goal no one closed him down in midfield
No obvious mistake from big Jo he just looks lost.
-
I'm going to get battered for this one but...
I think Jo looks a bit out of his depth.
I know he hasn't had many caps but he has looked shaky to me and a yard off the pace.
-
I think that the key to getting anything out of Riquelme is to play him in a very carefully selected position.
I really think in a straight 4-4-2 he would be totally overwhelmed by the pace and physicality.
However, if he was playing behind the front striker with little to no defensive duties he could be excellent. But that means no Cahill.
Its a difficult one. Personally someone like Appiah is a bigger priority for me (a leftie winger would be nice too).

I thought valente actually looked quite good. He looked soild and distributed well.
Arteta was influencial but is definately showboating. Mind you every time he had the ball they had 2 or 3 players around him.
Cheebie is so strong for his age! What is going to be like when he is 28?!
Though howard was good last night, he installs confidence in me.
We controlled the game last night without ever threatening much. I don't think yak got any real service.
Well happy with the points away from home though. They are probably going to be the hardest team in the pool.
Onwards and upwards boys!

62% posession in the first half, very little long ball stuff. Some sloppy mistakes at the back. Lescott and Pienaar both guilty but we should be OK.
Jeez. This is such a boring match!
-
I thought Fernandes would be an Everton player!

My Brother has a signed Everton football shirt from 1995 when they won the FA Cup, Never been worn, still has its tags attached. It was signed by all the players and manager, then auctions for charity, which is how we come to have it.
Can anyone point me in the right direction as to where to sell it?
thanks Gemma

Just found this on icliverpool...
With Pienaar alongside Leon Osman, Mikel Arteta and Carsley in the centre of the park, Everton have one of the smallest midfields in the top flight.
At 5ft 10in, Carsley is the tallest, and Moyes admits he is hoping to bring more height to Everton’s midfield during the transfer window.
“It does come into my thinking because I have to think of what other players I need to put into the team,” he added. “It can affect what I do in other areas of the field.
“It is a problem and one I hope to address in January. We are short of some stature in there.”
Moysey is obviously singing from the same sheet as us with the need for a powerful central midfielder.

i've got no problem with opinions, i've not had a go at anyones opinion mate, i'm not the one asking fucking stupid questions 'like whos better then'....so it's not me disregarding anyones views
and yakubu is the same, ball to feet he's ok, but generally aerially he is poor
Thanks very much. I don't think its a 'fucking stupid question', its obviously prompted a lot of discussion.

Wessels
Neville..... Yobo ...Jagielka .. Valente
Osman ....Anderson ...Graveson .. AVM
Anichebe McFadden
Almost the same as you. We don't want injuries to star players.
-
Appiah for me all the way.
-
vaughan
I could have finished it?
You've clearly not seen me play. I would have missed the ball completely, fallen on my backside...
-
Stroppy get.
I think he's a right back. If you disagree then do it politely.
-
Ok a loss against Liverpool and a win against easy Derby isn't much but I think we look a lot better without Hibbert, Stubbs and Neville.
4-5-1 seems to be suiting us well. Jags and Bainsey both have pace and can get forward down the flanks.
Will be interesting when all striikers are fit who we play. I'd like us to go 4-4-2 to see AJ and Yak together but 4-5-1 seems to suit us the most at the moment (also allows Cahill to slot in).
-
Yak scored one yesterday and with his dummy created Arteta's.
That's an OK afternoon isn't it?
I can't see Anichebe playing that dummy.
Just because he doesn't run around like a headless chicken doesn't make him worthless.
-
Ahemm...told you so!
I was rubbished for saying he was a right back!
-
Who is a must starter?
Yak
Faddy
AJ
Vaughan
Anichebe
-
I'm pretty sure Yak would have scored that 1 on 1 with the keeper that Faddy botched.
We have to find a way to get the most out of a £11.5m striker surely!
-
What did we learn tonight...?
Anichebe - not our most sophisticated forward but most effective possibly.
McFadden - worked very hard but clearly isn't a target man (unlike Big Vic)
Graveson - some lovely interchanges with Mikel but headless (surprise suprise). Off the pace but to be fair hasn't played much. Disappointing.
Pienaar - good little player, some nice touches
Lescott - show me a better attacking centre back in the country?
Baines - quality going forward gives us a totally new dimension. Can get caught out of position in defense though.
Arteta - thought he was a little flashy tonight without much end result. Does some amazing stuff but thought he was playing about with it a bit too much tonight.
Osman - I'm his biggest critic but he was good tonight. Kept ball very well and awesome goal!
The goal we conceeded. Stupid. Unlike Howard to be so daft.
I really felt in the second half we were lacking a captain (and not shitty Neville). We really need a Viera, Keane type player.
Final mention is to Carsley who is without a doubt our best defensive midfielder. We are so much more solid wih him.

Downing £8m.
No thanks!
We could with some pace please!
Who is the Ryan Giggs? Where can we find him? Surely Arteta has a mates back in Espana he can tap up?
We don't really have many players that beat a man one on one. I thought it would VDM but I was very wrong about that one!
