  1. 2 reasons :

Firstly , having watched him this year , he is still underperforming by his own standards . Don't get me wrong , he is still playing ok for the most part , but nowhere near as good as he has in the past , and for the first quater of the season , he was actually pretty dire .

Why have I changed my mind ?

I figured he was getting back to his best at the time of the last major discussion we had about him , but after watching him against Villa , he had another mediocre game , and settled for putting the ball in the stand very often when other options were available . His touch on the ball was off , especially his first touch , and his confidence looked a little low in one on one situations . Yes , everyone is entitled to a bad game , but it's only my current opinion , and that may yet again change .

Secondly , I look at the interest he has had from clubs such as Arsenal , and indeed City .

This makes me think if City did actually offer good money for him , then we could look at improving other areas on the pitch with the funding . Our main strengths in defence in recent months have been Jags , Baines , and a resurgence of Hibbert , but not necessarily Lescott . Part of that may be that Neville has covered infront of Hibbert and Jags and not necessarily Lescott . If Yobo moved into the area , we would still have a very strong defence with Rodwell and possibly Coleman gradually moving into contention . Edit : Jacobsen too .

I'm probably talking bollox to many , but I think Lescotts position could be covered and if the fee is right , inject some much needed new faces into the side .

Again , only my current opinion :)

Now where did I put my drink

Lescott can be the sub for Cole / Ferdinand and Terry for the national squad at present and he is still improving. IMO one day he will be the first 11 for the team in 3 to 4 years the most. Yes we still have positions to cover, selling him to City may provide us with some 15M to buy others but Lescott is a very versatile players with very good physical aspect. Good defending and attacking being a big threat he's proven that many times this season if u look at his goal-scoring record. Plus, it would be good to have Yobo on the bench for CD or taking turns with Jags and Lescott. This is the depth every titling-winning teams need to have.

If we need money or more players to boost our squad then we should ask the board to provide and look into the youth team which is there for a reason.

Lescott is a long-term investment done in last year and so far he's done well for us. It would not be sensible to sell him for money or due to some costly mistakes he's made early this season.

  2. Currently we are on great form so no matter Hammer or Boro we shall crush them easily. I'd like to have Arsenal in the Semi as they looked rather sluggish yesterday with Sunderland just wish they'd have mroe injuries by them. Final I'd pick Chelsea though the two teams are physically matched we are far more creative than they are.

  3. Arteta is very special to us. We play rather differently when he's on the pitch or not. We certainly have to change to a more direct approach when he is absent. I think he is a very influential player who can use his skill to make everton a team playing fluent football at times.he is just as good as those proven world-class players like lampard / gerrard etc.

I wouldn't be surprised if Arsenal had made an approach for him but i know DM knows he is the key to success and one of those we can trust to bring everton to CL one day.

  4. Greetings..You know where i come from by my name. I am 27 from South part of China. I got to know everton when Li Tie joined this club after that i have been very much impressed by the unity this club has shown and also delighted by the progress it has made in the past 4 to 5 years.

I think currently everything is going on pretty well around the club and if we can keep doing this in the next 2 to 3 years. We will be seriously considered as a real threat to compete in the CL.

Also i think DM is a very good manager i think he'll stay with us for 10 years and he is trying to build a solid and united team in the long run. Around 5 years ago we had a very aged squad but now things have changed much better with the capture of the likes of TC,arteta, lescott fellani and yak. Those are the key players for now and future. I believe Moyes will continue surprise us by snatching the top-quality players from lower league and wonderboys like fellani from foreign leagues to furth boost the square.

I wish the best for the team and everyone who supports this team and let's wish it best of luck so we will finish exactly where we want to be this season and with some real bargins in the trnasfer market this summer we will give the big boys a real scare.

  5. Hello everyone,i am new here and i come from China. I like everton because i feel it plays as a team and really down to earth. I think it is what a football is all about. United with its supporters and give 100% even more to pay back the faith for what it is given.

For game with toon, i think DM would field 4-5-1 as i think he's a very cautious manager and opts for a steady progress. Qualifying to the CL would not be good for the team this season as we still lack the quality in the depth. I think it would make more sense if we finish 5th then final in the FA CUP,which would certainly delight its fans.

My lineup would be Yobo for Hibbo and DM is really an important position in away game so Neville will be there to protect the defence. Jo will be our lone striker and anichebi on the right wing i think i've seen him play on that position in the past and his crossing is not bad.

Jacobson is an unproven defender in the league and using him in an away game with newcastle wouldn't be the best option in my opinion so better keep him on the bench.

Lescott and Jags are both quality players forming up a unbreakable defence so stick them there with baines providing attacking options on the left.

It has to be a cleansheet for us as our defence is too much for newcastle to break down. So the least would be 0=0 but if we score the opening, then 2:0 is very likely as our attacking is very effecient. I have seen it on several occasions we scored on count attacks in our away games.

This is my first post if anything wrong please remind me. Thanks.
