Everton boss David Moyes hopes to sign Gary O'Neil from Middlesbrough for a bargain £2million.

Moyes chased the gifted star in the last transfer window, but doubts about O'Neil's fitness and a near-£4 m price tag put him off.

But now Moyes has made a personal check on O'Neil ahead of a New Year offer.

O'Neil will not commit to a long-term deal at Boro and Fulham are also in the hunt, but Moyes hopes to win the chase for the talented midfielder who can play out wide or through the middle.

Moyes was linked with winger Adam Johnson when he saw Boro last week, but Goodison sources reveal that O'Neil was the real target.

    I don't rate him personally.

  2. Everton boss David Moyes is keeping tabs on Benfica starlet Javi Garcia with a view to making a January swoop.

The 22-year-old caught the eye of Moyes as Benfica hammered Everton 5-0 in the Europa League and he will get another chance to shine when the two sides again go head-to-head on Thursday.

The midfielder has been a revelation after joining Benfica from Real Madrid in a deal worth £7million last summer and reports claim it would now take double that to prize him away.

The player also signed a five-year deal in the summer so Moyes could have problems trying to push through a deal if he pursues his interest in the Spain under-21 international.

i think he could be good

  3. We've got cover all across the back now, we were short of a cb and now moyes has addressed that with neill:

rb: Hibbert, Heitinga, Neill, Nev, Gosling, Jags, Coleman

lb: Baines, Distin, Nev, Bily, Garbutt

cb: Yobo, Distin, Jags, Neill, Heitinga, Rodwell, Duffy, Mustafi

I think we're covered across the back with a few to blood through for the future!

Regarding your earlier question, how many rb's... hibbert most will agree dosen't have the ability to be a 1st teamer in a top 5/6 prem team but is good back-up, heitinga has been brought in to cover 3 positions we've been short in, he's a proven rb at international level, Neill is a proven quality rb at prem level - these are our 3 right backs. Nev is a def mid who can cover rb, gosling only covered the position in an emergency and it's unfair to class coleman as a serious option now as he's yet to make a full 1st team appearance.

We now have plenty of defensive options with cover in all positions across the back.

but cant rodwell play rb if need

  5. Everton Linked to Van Der Vaart; Again! VDV, for short, confirmed reports that Moyes tried to sign him in the Summer, but he wanted to fight for his place at Real Madrid. He did state however, that if he was not getting regular first team football, he would certainly consider a move away from the Bernabeu.

Although, where he would fit into the team is up for debate, with both Fellaini and Cahill ahead of him in the role behind the striker. The attacking midfielder is expected to fetch a fee of around £12m.

so what do you think guys
