  1. That was so close for Rodwell, good save.

It's like they've injected a bit of 'actually want to play and win a match' into their play!

But if they grab another goal it'll be killed for us!

  2. (i.e. man handling, rather than actually marking)

That happens an awful lot, depends how tight the referees will be on it at international level - I remember against Sunderland on Kenwyn Jones, it was almost beyond a joke how much he got away with it.

If he were to play at the WC I've no doubt he'll give a penalty away for that exact offence. I'd call it a liability.

But as you said, at times he can be a good, quality defender. Just needs to sort that aspect of his game out imo.

Edit: Oh, and - Congratulations to Baines, I would personally (as an Everton follower or as a neutral) pick him above Bridge anyway. At least he's in the squad for whatever other reasons there may have been, I hope he gets some game time - make 18 and then much more caps!

  3. I've got my fingers crossed, and my toes!

I'm hoping we can beat Spurs but after Thursdays 'performance' I'm not filled with confidence. I just hope we can put that behind us and play an actual game of football!

  4. it was definitely not the horror tackle that it was advertised to be. I hope shawcross doesn't gain a reputation for it and hope he hasn't put an end to ramsey's career.

I don't think he will, looking around at various forums the general consensus (minus a few Arsenal supporters) understand that it was just a horrible footballing incident as opposed to a malicious challenge.

"It is a bad challenge but I know Shawcross, I signed him as a 19-year-old. He has got no bad blood in him whatsoever and there is no way in a million years he would ever go out to hurt anybody" I think that's the main thing here, never been sent off before, only a handful of yellow cards, it's obvious the sort of player he is; not really comparable to the likes of Keane etc.

  5. It seems a bit funny that MailOnline published that he was drunk, I would have assumed they would have to have had that as a statement written by the Police- Otherwise Pienaar has a case for Defamation.

I'm still sceptical about his 'sober' state. After all, all the SA article has is a quote from his mother as evidence- I could just imagine it now, "Hi Mum, Don't worry about what you read - It's fine, I've got to go to court but it's nothing to worry about...Nooo, I wasn't drinking"

I'm sure that would be my line to my Mum too!

  6.

It was not a fatastic performance!...

I don't pretend to be an expert, but these guys broadcast to millions so one would assume they know a little about Football..

    "magnificent performance" - Lineker

"the quality of their play from start to finish was absolutely fantastic" - Hansen
