So we have to add a million or two even. we still end up with better QUALITY players and as a result a better squad even if we're down a body. I have to say, really dissappointed with the standard of response i got to a genuine belief that we should rearrange our defence by selling average players(jags the only one to have a case for not being labelled as such and purely on last years form). ranging from one word insults to why make transfers, they're too much hassle. Pretty poor. Expected more from everton fans who i thought were fairly clued in. Mediocrity seems to be too deeply engrained in us!

So we shouldn't bother trying then because its too much hassle! ok

And you know this as fact? Shawcross is valued at about 10 mil max. Yobo would fetch about 5/6 and distin 3/4 whats so unbelievable about that

Yobo and Distin = Shawcross Hibbert plus 2 mil = onouha who said anything about messi And what we need is quality not an extra body or two just in case

I think we prob would also need one more defender onuoha would be perfect as he can play anywhere across the back and would mean we dont need the numbers that some people think are essential, use whatever we could get for hibbo plus transfer kitty Shawcross nearly made it into the england squad before he minced ramsey, and is in a different league to yobo/distin Its all about quality not excesssive numbers of average players

You could sell yobo and distin and buy him though, and vastly improve the quality of the squad if not the numbers.

Filled a gap but not good enough, for me anyway, although it seems most people are in favour of keeping average players for the sake of it or for sentimental value

So you think we should sell and yobo and keep distin as cover for jags/heitinga. We paid 5 million for distin last year thats good business for a club with no money. I'm only talking about dufy as 4th choice center half. Just because your vastly experienced your good enough are u? Maybe we should go for sol cambell then?

The fact is even at 18 hes better than yobo and distin, and i'm only talking about using him as cover for someone we buy instead of yobo and distin

I want to make the squad better and if necessary smaller by one or two and i'd rather have duffy as back up than yobo or distin any day, he will be a full international next season and looks like a proper footballer with a brain!

Neville could do the same job from the line and hibbert will play next year instead of coleman if we keep him for the sake of it

Like i said previously its a risk i'd be willing to take cosidering we have duffy heitinga rodwell etc. that could cover different positions if needed, your obviously happy with the quality we have at the moment, i'm not. I think if we improved our defence and added a winger we have the makings of a great side, but we're not goin to win anything or qualify for champions league playing percentage football.

If that is our back four next year and evryone stays fit,what does moyes do with yobo,distin,neville,and hibbert put 4 defenders on the bench? They should be offfloaded and replaced with 2 quality players. onuoha off city would be good cover all across the back 4

I'm not saying what will happen i'm putting forward a point of view. ie. what i would like to see happen. I'm well awarte that we're stuck with neville hibbert etc but we should try and sell them along with yobo and distin, buy quality, and use the rest of the squad. Our first choice back 4 should be priority. I think jags is replaceable with the money we would get for him with money to spare, someone like shawcross of stoke maybe, and his form has been nothing short of shocking since he came back!

Last year was an exceptional season for injuries, we're not gonna have that many again unless very unlucky, and i'd still much rather play duffy and coleman instead of yobo/distin and neville/hibbert. Like u said we nee money we have to sell!!

Im saying we should have a quality back 4 because it wont be changed around much if people stay fit instead of lots of average players

I would definately risk losing 2 squad players if it meant our starting back four was improved. Wehave duffy, rodwell, heitinga, coleman, who could fill in if it were needed we dont neeed that many options in defence as if people stayed fit it wouldn't change all season

Some great one word responses there, from people who are obviously happy with with neville, hibbert, yobo and co. in the same team and whose expectations are so low they will never be dissappointed. And yes I would rather have three quality players than 5 average ones any day of the week, and use some of the good young players we are developing as backup. Jags is the only one that would comand a decent fee and in my opinion could be replaced. We're not gonna have the money to improve the squad without selling but obviously some of you would rather just hang on to players for the sake of having numbers.
