Jimmy the blue
It seems that unless we some how manage to get an extremely rich benefactor quickly we and other Prem sides will be facing harder times. When business's struggle for profit they cut back as much as they can, Barclay's laying staff off, AIG bailed out in the States, XL Air going bust. I feel that there is a great danger of other sponsors and financial backers facing tough times will cut back on all of these sponsorship deals or indeed terminate many of them. Any such moves will reduce pot size in the game to an extent that something will have to give,....the wages spiral for one could well end and other clubs themselves could go to the wall. Does any one else see a danger for our great game in these grim economic times?
DonKey
I can only see the gap between have's and have not's getting bigger. US government bail out the big guns like AIG, because they're a flagship company. On the back of that they'll be no danger that they can't continue sponsorship. A team say in League 1 isn't going to have the same level of sponsor who can afford not to cut back on spending. Even in the Premier League you'll find similar situations. For example Chang. They will lose out on cash because people will not spend the leisure pound on their product, haven't got a 'sugar daddy' to bail them out, and so could potentially pull the plug at the drop a hat a la XL. Don't think it'll be long before the arse falls out of it.
Jimmy the blue
Well it seems matters are starting to bite and bite badly. Figures out today suggest that English clubs owe as much as £3 billion, West Ham's owner has effectively gone bust and it won't be long before banks start calling in their riskier loans...................there may be trouble a head. Funnily enough these circumstances may help us sell the club because those with capital lying in banks will want to convert it into something more soluble like property so we may just attract a big boy who wants to protect his small change
