Dalziel Kane
I'm all for a mid season break like they do in continental Europe, have a few weeks off over the new year, I'm sure the players would welcome it. Reading that article I was thinking back to 1985 when we went to Rotterdam for the ECWC Final and then had to play in the FA cup Final just three days later, the players on the day were very tired I remember, and extra time proved too much and in the end, even with ten men, they managed the win, had we held on for another twelve minutes that day and got a replay, It would have been interesting to see, but I remember a few of the players weren't happy at the time about having to play on the saturday so soon after the endeavors in The Netherlands, then United manager Ron Atkinson said at the time 'we've had a much harder game at Watford' (midweek), 'than you've had over there' (In Europe).
