Too much hoofing the ball with poor accuracy. We need to play the ball on the floor more.

I was actually thinking about posting about his play but couldn't find the thread. He had a terrific 1st half and was easily the best player on the Costa Rica team... maybe even the game. Of course as the weather got worst (and it got really bad) he alongside all the other players started to fade. I'm hoping he gets a shot these next couple of games that Peanuts is out, I liked what I saw from him.

Like I said in the match thread, means my preferred CD pairing is back together. Jags and Distin are better players than Johnny but Johnny and Distin is the best pairing, and thats what its all about. Might get some game time for Duffy too.

 

That may have been the case last season but I don't know how you can believe that this season. Has Johnny gotten way more crap than he should have this season, yes. Has he been awful compared to last season when he was our player of the season, absolutely. At this point, I'd rather give Duffy a shot, he was also quality last season during the limited amount of games he played last year and want to see what we have in him for the future.

Donovan is the main reason why I began watching Everton and I am a bit shocked to see that some of you believe he wouldn't fit in here as nothing more than a squad player. He may be getting up there in age true, but we just saw in the last game that Mirallas works best as a LM. Pienaar has more than enough quality to play as a CM and both of them working along with Baines gave us some quality that had been missing for a while now. However that leaves a hole at RM and we do not have a player that can fill that at the moment. I am also a Galaxy fan and Donovan may not be as good as he was during his 1st loan spell a couple seasons back but he is still a quality player. I mean he almost averaged an assist a game his 2nd go around, which is amazing. I also believe his play style, specifically his passing game matches Jelavic's skill set really well. While I would miss him as a Galaxy fan if he left next summer, I wouldn't blame him one bit if he did.

FFS. Jags has been our most consistent defender (even though our defense has been shaky all year) and now he might be out for the season... Johnny H to the rescue.

Really close between Mirallas and Pienaar, but I had to give it to Mirallas because he was the only one that had a good 1st half. Pienaar may have been better in the 2nd half but Mirallas was just more consistent.

Very sluggish first 30 or so minutes. We were lucky to not fall behind during that time period. However I can happily say we bossed the game after that period. Now we have to think about the FA Cup next week and hopefully advancing to the semis.

I wish he would have passed that to Jela.

When will we keep a clean sheet again???

If only LD hadn't gone on his soccer hiatus and come on loan.

Has Felli touched the ball yet? Totally wasted behind the striker. I can't wait for Moyes to feck off.

Mirallas doing really well, hopefully he's the spark plug this team needs considering this piss poor 1st half.

Have we had a legitimate shot on goal yet? This has been very lackluster so far.

If big Vic would have stayed on, I would have given it to him. But based on the 2nd half (and being a yankee ) I gave it to Howard. He had some cracking saves that kept us in the lead (until the last minute...)

Defender on for a striker just invites pressure.

 

Kind of have to disagree there. There were only about 2 minutes left and he brought in a tall defender to defend a free kick. If he would have brought in Heitinga... then I would have a problem with it.

It could have been worst I guess. At least that wasn't a game winning goal for them. Still though that was shit.

Someone explain to me how they weren't impeding Timmy's progress there. Oh well, we should get them at Goodison.

Timmy freakin' Howard. That's the fuckin goalkeeper I grew up watching play for the US squad. Love the guy.

Great sprint/tackle from Oviedo there. I love the energy he brings to the team when he comes on.

 

Edit: I hope so MikeO, we'll need him to find his shooting boots if we want to secure a top 5 spot in the league this year.

 

Edit 2: Almost had a heart attack there. Cracking tackle from Gibson before that though.

Jelavic last season makes that 98 out of 100 times. Feel so bad for him.

Usually he is piss poor at them, usually he will fail to get it over the first man but I'm glad to see him doing well with corner-taking duty tonight.

 

That's probably why I hadn't noticed then. He's almost doing as well as Neville's, who are a beauty

I never noticed how good Mirallas corners were. Great curve on them, but Osman just a bit unlucky there
