  1. thought our lads did well considering who we had to play in midfield. from my point of view, jimmy mac was awful but then I can't recall seeing him play well as a left winger :(

the atmosphere was amazin, especially when we scored. can;t wait for the 2nd leg. all we got to do is win 1-0 (over 120mins :-s ) and we're through :D

  2. Yer the lad is good I just hate the way all redshites WHO NEVER GO THE MATCH shag his ass.

What the hell do you want them to do? Not like him because they don't go games. If he was at Everton everyone would love him so I don't see your logic behind that.

I rate him, and the only 'hate' I have for him is that he plays for Liverpool nothing more.

  3. Got to agree with Mark on the McFadden issue. I thought he did quite well, came deep a few times to cover (when needed too) and made some nice touches with the ball, did lose the ball a few times rather easily but then again who never?

Don't think there was much wrong defensively wise in their goal, lescott had to move forward to the ball to cover the guy coming across and jags was very unlucky. If anything it was just a good finish.

Thought Hibbert was very solid when he pretty much played on the right on his own, and he even got forward a few times. Johnson was superb tonight, chased everything and it was the sort of performance we got from him in his first season.

With it not meaning anything it was good to see Rodwell and Vidasson being thrown in the mixer.

  4. Distractions. I thought before I go back for Christmas that I'll do an essay before I go to get it out of the way. Unfortunately, theres too many distractions that I'm not getting it done, and the fact its on nationalism and I have to apply, asses and contrast the theories of functionalism and masculinity to it. Now what the fuck as that got to do with Sports Journalism :grrr:

  5. ....and, "Are you watching Manchester?"

Best part of 100,000 singing that at Wembley (only Charity Shield in my case sadly) was special. Be nice to see/hear it again.

Aye I was telling my housemates that I hope we get Liverpool in the final for those chants. Never witnessed it myself but my dad and a few on here comment on it. Be amazing to see it again but wonder what are the chances it would happen if we did get to the final :questionmark:

  6. Yeah he was the manager and he should get the credit but just think it was very strange he got sacked straight away.

And I've stated on a different thread that I wanted someone to challenge the big ego but when players claim he sabotaged the club alarm bells start ringing, I mean sabatage is such a strong word. And I agree, I'd prefer us to win ugly than lose beautifully.

  7. ...In the closing weeks of the season there was very little actual coaching Capello was impressing upon the players; what had happened was that the younger players had spurred the older players into playing better football and so Capello just managed that until they won the league.

The league was won by Real Madrid in the final stages of the year and were 2nd pretty much the whole year. So your saying that Capello shouldn't get the credit for winning it and the youngsters should?

But he didn't drop Beckham to get the best out of him, in fact he stated that Beckham would never play for Madrid again. But with injuries and the team under a lot of pressure he gave in and gave him a run out (although he said the way Beckham was very professional and tried hard in training, even though at one point he was training on his own and with the youngsters). Don't forget Capello fluked that league winning on results against Barca as both were level on points, and a lot of fans do believe it was Beckham's form that made them win it (although he didn't play that many games the English media led people to believe at the time) but that says more about Beckham than Capello imo.

  8. I heard a different story but still it had cricket in it.

I heard that when a bowler got 3 in a over the guy was allowed to do take is hat off and collect money from the fans and players. But I suspect it was the ramblings of an old man

But either way it has to be 3 wickets in 3 balls

  9. Still undecided tbh.

Some things do concern me though. Like the fact he has a lot of public feuds with his players and some even said he sabotaged the club. Also McLaren got a lot of stick for playing boring football and tbh Capello isn't really renowned for playing the most attractive football ever, and thats why r.madrid controversially sacked him. It may be good for the first few months when this public in fighting is new but it may soon get repetative and even get some of the players to retire from the team cos of him. Boban said that Capello done it on purpose to get a reaction out of a player but its all fine the next day as Capello is then nice to you again but what with it being a national team then he's might not get that chance to be nice to them again for a couple of months.
