  1. Marcus Bent always starts well at a new club, then tails off when he begins to feel 'comfortable'. It is at this stage he begins to act like he is indespensible, becomes very arrognant, and his performances nose dive. (speaking from personal experience)

For a striker, your finishing has to be your best asset, sadly for Marcus, his isn't

Good luck, but not a consistent enough performer to ever worry premiership defences week in - week out

  2. he is a legend

sadly he just aint scored enough goals, cos when he's on form and fit he is simply un-playable.

A true blue, proven by his passion (which on occassion goes way too far)

A fully fit Duncan Fergson could easily score 15+ goals, there is no other player like him, i'm sure the best defenders in the league would agree

  3. martyn - 2 fantastic saves in the early part of the first half. largely untroubled for the rest of the game. goal kicks a bit wayward from time to time

hibbert - superb, why is he not in the england squad? passion, committment, played very well

valente - got forward well, communciated well with kilbane, a bit suspect on tackles tho

Ferrari - look good again before going off. we really must sign him

Weir - as much as i criticise him, lets be fair he did well today, did nothing wrong

Stubbs - Good to see him back in a blue shirt. Fitted back in as if he'd never been gone. Did the simple things well

Arteta - creative, worked hard, got stuck in. Another solid performance

Cahill - here, there and everywhere, must be one of the best bargains in premiership history, back on top form now

Neville - sat in the midfield, marshalled the team well. never lets us down. good signing

Kilbane - Worked extremely hard, made lots of little tackles and blocks, but when had the ball his passing was on the whole quite poor

Osman - Really turned things around. Start of the season he wasn't looking good enough, but the last few weeks have seen a massive improvement. he was brilliant today, clever runs and touches and a great work ethic

Beattie - Immense, gave campbell et al a torid time. jumped for every header, battled hard and got his rewards. we are now seeing why we paid £6 million for him

Of course this is only my opinion, your thoughts are welcome guys !!

    Come on you Blues!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

  4. i am shocked that he 'may' be going already, but there are 2 trains of thought

    1. Player not settling cos of language? lifetsyle? injuries? and this has caused arguements with the manager

    2. Moyes has realised he made a mistake in signing him (which would make us look like prize t*ats) and has decided that he will never make the grade here, so try and sell him quick whilst his market value in italy is still close to what we paid. if he leaves it 6 months then the available offers would be lower??

At least he would be admitting to a mistake, not many managers do (though we still look silly)

Either way i am really really concerned at our now non-existent squad, Bring in players quickly Mr Moyes :(

However i shall take my boots on Saturday just in case :P

  5. Hi folks!

I'd like to start by saying that i beliveve that David Moyes is the man for Everton. He has proven to be a good manager, who has had a good effect on Everrton Football Club in general.

The reason for this topic is that i am just beginning to feel slighlty un-easy ahead of the Arsenal game (more so than usual) due to the lack of strikers we now have at our disposal.

In the aftermath of the Marcus Bent sale, a good piece of business for all concerned, i have been surprised that we ourselves did not immediately bring in 'replacement(s)'

For us to sell a 'first team' striker, (a loose term), i would have thought that we would have had instant business coming in ?? I was confident that deals were done, (not sure who with having said that) and that all that was missing was the financial capital to complete the deal.

We sell Marcus = we play other clubs = we bring players in

However if now seems that we could realistically be facing Arsenal with ONE fit striker at the club. A severe lack of options me thinks

Anybody else feeling like this ???

  6. i'd be surprised to see him leave, if he does then there has to be some 'internal politics' going on. But to lose 1.5 million on him in 3 months is concerning.

A back 4 of Hibbert, Valente, Yobo, Kroldup/Ferrari, isn't that bad really.

Plus as mentioned, if he goes it means that useless 'club captain' will be back in the team, stearing us toward the relegation zone no doubt

  7. DM must have something lined up, can't believe we would let ANYONE go if he hasn't looked at the consequences

And as for 2 million profit on Bent, that is superb business by the club. Bent is an average premiership centre forward. ocassionally brilliant but more often than not falls short of the standard required.

He always starts well at a club and then loses interest (9 clubs in 10 years proves that)

He was the same at Leicester City, and will be the same at Charlton, plus from personal experience i can vouch that he is a complete nob-head

  8. earnshaw has scored some goals in the recent past so IF the price was reasonably cheap he would be worth a go. he's got pace etc so could be a good partner for beattie maybe.

But i reckon robson will want too much for him, 2 million would be a fairer price. 14 goals in the premiership is good going.

And as for horsfield and KC keeping him out ..... that really is concerning

  9. if possible we should sign ferrari.

in the charlton game he was calling the back line etc very very well, had good communication with yobo, and generally looked the part.

Weir was a good signing and has done well for us, but this season he just isn't the answer. Yobo has to do twice the work becasue of the severe lack of pace of Weir, and most of the games he's played he has cost us goals.

He sits so far back that he is a strikers wet dream !!

ferrari is not a house hold name so therefore one would think there would not be too much competition from bigger clubs

I would like to see us chance our arm on him for about 2 - 3 million. then we would have 3 decent premiership centre halfs (if Kroldrup works out)

it would strengthen our 'decent' squad

    thoughts ??

  10. now beattie is beginning to regain his fitness and sharpness we finally have somebody capable of scoring on a regular basis

We have the midfield capable of creating and scoring goals so it would be nice to see a goal scorer like anelka come in to supplement beattie.

In the same breath though he does have a reputation for being a bit of an arse ................. duncan will some sort him out if he comes :P

  11. highly unlikely me thinks

he has openly admitted that he is struggling to make an impact in games, so why would a manager of another team see him as a good signing.

Big Dunc will continue to the end of the season then retire. Hopefully by then he may have scored a couple of goals and generallly put centre halfs thru 90 (we wish) minutes of hell :D

Plus he's british and harry don't buy british very often
