It seems like if you are an Everton opponent all you do is defend well then throw the ball into the box and wait for Everton's defense to make a stupid mistake. That's what Palace did today and it worked.

I think it's pretty clear what he's doing. He wants to still be in the picture, but there's no reason for him to be traveling across the world for friendlies constantly. Not so far away from the World Cup, at least. This gives him a chance to rest, focus solely on Everton, and spend time with his family. And then he can revisit in a couple years whether he wants to play in 2018. This is a guy who has been in goal for the U.S. forever and who knows the coaches and defenders better than anyone. It won't take him very long to get comfortable again if he decides to come back in 2016.

Seems like even at Palace, 3 points is mandatory for us. Wouldn't mind seeing a half hour or more out of Eto'o, but even more than that, I'd like to see sustained effort from Lukaku. He's got to be better and I don't want to make snap judgments, but so far he's playing like a guy that is just happy to be cashing his checks. I'm basically a new Everton fan, but even watching highlights of him last year show that he's not as engaged as he's been in the past.

I really like Naismith's work so far this year. He fights for every ball. Gets in the right spots. I say he gets a goal here and so does Mirallas. 2 Everton - 0 Palace.

There's been some criticism of Tim for not playing for the USMNT this year, but I sort of think he's trying to do the best by Everton, by being at his best, and for the US by letting some of the other guys get some playing time. He'll be 37 or 38 in 2018...maybe too old for national service. I say let him focus on Everton and turn in more brilliant matches like he did on Thursday.

As a relatively new fan from the US, I had a hard time following all the rumors today. Apparently Cleverly was rumored, but we need defense and he's midfield. What was that all about?

I hope in coming years the names associated with the rumors mean more to me!

Howard has to take some of the blame for 10 goals in 3 games but it still seems like he hasn't misplayed most of them. He should have stopped the first one today IMO.

Interesting thread as an American who doesn't fully understand the political system in Great Britain. Seems crazy to me but the one Scottish guy I know wants it.

My vote was for Mirallas followed by Naismith. Both are guys easy to root for. Hard working, full of effort and put themselves in good positions.
