  1. Howard for two crucial save and his goal. I can't believe I said to those sitting around me that we should be taking pot shots from long range in this wind, especially with the wind catching it towards the Gwladys St in the second half, even mentioned Howard scoring but never put a bet on shaking fist.png , anyone know what odds I would have got.

  2. I have a feeling this will be a dour draw but as it is the festive season I shall scrap that and go for 2-4 win for us. An early start means an early departing time, shocking that most on the coach will have had hardly any sleep, oh well.happy.pngbeer.gifbeer.gif . See you there through bleary eyes.

  3. Osman deserved his man of the match (just for getting us a penalty), seriously he was the best of a poor performance. Can't see why people thought Drenthe did well, is he flavour of the month, I felt he just ran into their men with the ball rather than past them. Midfield attacking play was non-existant but with the line up I wasn't expecting anything else. Moyes must now see that Heittinga is not a midfileder, all he did was chase shadows and hoof the ball to their keeper. Saha was, well, not even Saha, more like haha. Howard did all he was asked to do apart from one flap in the second half and in the main the defence was solid, although Distin looked a little ring rusty. I just can't help feel we play the same way in every game and teams are nullifying us, hence our lack of goals......but hey ho. it's the season of goodwill, well I thought it was until I read most posts on here, just thought I would throw a little bit of satire in there.

We're not talking normal here though. What 'we' might do and what a '24 year old footballer earning a gazillion pound a week' might do are probably light years apart. I have a mental image of Dalglish having a 'speech bubble' saying "Louis, about our culture" and a zombiesque Suarez 'thought' bubble saying "Ferrari, mansion, girls, golden boot" etc etc.

Maybe so Av but there are plenty of campaigns regarding what is accepted racially and the biggest in football is plastered everywhere. I am sure while he pondered his Ferrari, mansion and girls he would have spotted the banners, hoardings etc proclaiming "Let's Kick Racism Out Of Football"

We pay a couple of extra quid for drinkies.

  7. Is half nine in the morning to early to be on the ale?

That is when the coaches leave after all. :P

No, thats the norm for us haha.

I am with Av on this regarding the outcome of the game. The only thing that may hinder us is Sunderlands renewed vigour under O'Neill but I am still confident of a positive result.

  8.

    I full agree with that,

But what i don't is people calling him racist for a word that in his own country is perfectly acceptable with foods named after it.

But said in a heat of a football match between two teams who have a history of enmity between them I don't think it would have been aimed friendly. If this incident would have involved anyone from other than Liverpool, the debate would still have been ongoing but I suggest the response from Liverpool fans/ players/ the club in general would be decidedly different.

  10. I have not read all posts in this thread but I do agree with what StevO and Bill have said.

I debated, mainly with Reds, who again feel so hard done by and many believe it is Alex Fergusons fault, staggering. Anyway I digress, SteveO's point about culture is a point I have brought up with Reds. In this City people are always bemoaning attitudes from ethnic groups, you will often hear people comment "They are in our country then they should adopt our culture". I agree to this to some degree while maintaing the essence of ones own culture. therefore Suarez will have known that using any terminology may be offensive. The argument from reds is that the word used is inoffensive in his own culture and I have read a letter from a female Argentian in tonights Liverpool Echo proclaiming the same. However the term 'Negrito' is used as a greeting rather like us calling someone mate or pal, when it used used in that context but derogatory in other situations. Now Liverpool playing Man Utd at Anfield, the game gets a bit feisty what way do you reckon Saurez made his comment to Evra?

Regarding the Liverpool Echo, this is another reason why I do not buy the rag. Have they condemned Suarez, have they distanced themselves from Liverpool, have they commented on the negativity the t-shirt stunt is portraying..........No, thought not.

Liverpool FC, and not being bitter, seem to want to take the high morality ground on every decision that goes against them, harking back to entry to the Champions League and having rules changed. If this issue would have concerned Wayne Rooney for example then they would have had street parties by now, this is why we have reached a siege mentality. If they accepted the decision and issued a form of apology that still maintained that no racist offence was meant but rather cultural exchange that was not meant to offend and Suarez apologises for that then issue over. As I have pointed out to other people supporting the perpetrator makes you just as guilty in my eyes.

  11. I voted for Tony Hibbert. I thought he was solid defensively and did make some decent forward runs and if his control was better might have found that elusive first goal. Fellaini, Osman and defence overall played well. I must admit, and going against most on here, I though Gueye was pretty ordinary and backed out of a couple of tackles. I was also disappointed in Swansea overall. I was waiting this 'pass them off the park' football but it never materialised.
