  1. Bloody hell! There's a blast from the past! Welcome back!

    Why the hiatus?

I've asked myself that. I Always liked this place.

A slighlty lessened interest in Football back then, less time spent online aswell are probably part of it.

  2. Thanks Mike, great! :) Were you always an admin? could just as well be my memory failing me..

For the scousers: Where does one go to on a Saterday evening in Liverpool?

  3. Good evening.

I lost my password/emailaccount for my previous account. So here I am with a new one.

I don't expect alot of people to remember me since, much to my disbelieve, it's been 7 years since my first visit and quite a few years since i was active here. I recognize quite some names though.

My return has alot to do with the fact that I will be visiting Goodison and the fine city of Liverpool for the first time this weekend!

I named both my cats after Phill Neville btw!

  4. Heitinga's agent was just on the Dutch TV and had interesting things to say.

Heitinga was apparently on his way to a European topclub that played Champions league regularly (He didn't want to say what club it was, but someone in the show suggested an Italian one). The deal was close to done, untill Kenwright put a stop to it.

Apparently Kenwright adores Johnny and wants him to extend his contract. So now it appears he can sign for another 4 years (if i understood correctly) but I didn't get the impression that a transfer was ruled out.

  5. I'd be psyched just to be at an international tournament again. My only memory of Belgium in an international tournament is of a game I didn't even see as I was 10 years old back then (2002 world cup) and we weren't allowed to watch the game at school. We were unjustly defeated by later champions Brazil because of a wrongly disallowed Marc Wilmots goal. He's the manager of our national team nowadays.

the referees name was Prendergast, never forget..

I smuggled a radio into class for that :)

Interesting, alot of people where discussing on here a few months ago about the possibility of Belgium winning something in the next few years when all there players start to peak, they are all due to peak at the same time. What is your view on this?

I'm not too excited just yet. people have been saying we have a bright future for 5 years now, and they have absolutely failed to deliver thusfar. But yeah, even a blind man can see we have the individual quality to go far in tournaments, but now we actually have to start performing accordingly.

  6. Christian Benteke is actually changing my opionion of him. I have long resented him for simply not being able to put the ball in goal for my favourite Belgian team who then offloaded him to Genk. And he's actually turned out to be a good footballer biggrin.png He's got good pace for someone of his lenght, but he's shit at heading the ball. He's got very good technique though. He can play with his back to goal and play one touch passes, laying it off, flicking it on, etc. And he suddenly doens't need five chances one on one with the goalkeeper anymore to score either. He's first choice for the Belgian national team probably and he scored against Heitinga and Matthijsen last weekend. Made them look pretty crappy really.

I'm sure there is a topic of him here ( He was linked to Everton before his move to Genk), and i'm quite sure I was rather negative to say the least tongue.png

Like Steve said, he' turned out to be a very decent allround striker, I'd say he has PL potential. I hope he stays with Genk for another season though.

  7. Just thinking out loud here:

what if we extrapolate the scores to a scale of ten? for example, player A wins it with 20 votes, players B,C and D have 18, 10 and 6. The winning player always get's ten, wich means we have to divide his score by 2. we do the same with the rest so it's: 10, 9 5 and 3 points for the rest.

That way, if a player really stands out, he'll be rewarded for it quite a bit. But players scoring some points consistantly won't get 50 points behind just for one game.

  8. I feel I've maybe divorced myself from this latest member for admitting a favoritism of Chelsea Football Club. And isn't this new guy from Belgium, and not a mention of Anderlecht, Standard Liege or Royal Antwerp?, it's all very good taking an interest in a second club, but I could never actually follow another club (aside from EFC) such as presented there. I understand a number of Europeans actually do that?

Serious observation with a cherry on top.

it's normal for supporters from smaller countries (i think the phenomenon is more prevalent there) to take interest in bigger leagues, and grow fond of teams there for whatever reason. it is perseeved as a different level/ different world and because of this it doesn't conflicts with beeing a supporter from a local club.

edit: I bet that alot of English lower league supporters have sympathy for a PL club too, or am I wrong?

  9. He said after yesterdays game that he is going to talk to Everton, but he isn't planning on making a decision yet. He's planning on taking his time untill the end of the transfer deadline, as there are other clubs interested. he also says Everton has the advantage of getting more chances to play (so arsenal are probably interested). He also liked the idea of playing with Marouane.

Personally, I haven't followed him in Greece so i can't tell if he will succeed here. always played his games well for the national team, but he lacked finishing back then.

last edit: According to the same article Olympiakos wants 8 million euro for him

  10. If he's like the Bily that played in his debut (before some bastard kidnapped him and replaced him with a talentless clone) then greatsmile.png .

I don't think he's like Bily that much. Mirallas is not that slow for starters. He had a nickname in france that probably suits him quite well: the Ronaldo of the poor.

  11. Reg - Let's not get ahead of ourselves, we've looked ahead a couple of times this season saying we have a run of very winnable games where we could find ourselves in a strong position only to fuck it up. We should just take it one game at a time because we're consistently inconsistent!

  12. If the lad knows what's good for him he'll stay at least for the next season, preferably even a season longer. he'll get all the chances to prove himself in a decent premier league team. the only thing Man United can offer at this moment him is a bigger wage, but that shouldn't be an arguement seeing he'll get a more then proper paycheck at Everton and it's just so much better for his development.

  13. Plenty of really good, recent free games out at the moment.. Team Fortress 2 is quality.

If on an older computer, try Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory.

Thanks i'm going to give TF 2 a go. I forgot about wolfenstein, I played it before, must be 7 years ago or something.
