  1. The fact is Ferrari would have cost just under 4m. Moyes obviously thought he wasn't worth the risk at that price. He will also remember the Koldrup mess and that would have made him more cautious perhaps.

The fact remains we have little money/investment so Moyes has to spread the money he does have around in the areas its most needed. Obviously a striker must surely be his priority.

There is some good news. The new tv deal from 2007 onwards is a very generous one. Sky have paid over the odds and so all the premiership clubs will get around 20m each. I know everyone gets this money but success will depend on how its spent. Moyes past record is not good I know, but it shows there is some hope at least!

  2. Forgot about Wright.

So does that mean that he will be given a new deal as he has not said that he is being released???

Adam I don't know if they'll keep him or not but I did hear Moyes in an interview say recently that it was a pity he received a gashed knee because he 'was improving with every match'. from that I'm guessing that they'd look to keep him if they can and spend whatever money there is elsewhere - possibly?

  3. All I can assume is that there was a personality clash between Moyes and Ferrari. I think I've said before Moyes seems to have little patience with some people. Hope to god that Yobo and a. n. other are the first choice centre backs and Stubbs & Weir are squad back -ups.

It could be due to limited funds we get a goal keeper on loan to back up or compete with Martin although its still possible that Wright will stay. I note that Moyes was saying he was improving recently. The funds that will be available will be spent on a centre back, midfielder and obviously a striker. I reckon something like either Johnson/Nugent/Jerome/McCarthy etc, someone like Nolan in midfield and a young centreback like say Lescott. However that would all cost something like 12m at least. We don't have it I know but perhaps some will be sold, (Kilbane, Davies, Naysmith) to make up the difference.

  4. A caller who'd just been to the West Brom game said on 606: 'We're a one man team'. Lawro asks 'whose that'. The caller answers 'We haven't signed him yet'.

This is perhaps a tad bit unfair to Arteta but it does perhaps show the disillusionment around the club at present. Moyes has to change this fast. He can start immediately by having a pro-active transfer policy that starts straight away as soon as the window opens. There have been too many last minute deadline situations. Transfers need to be completed early summer before the world cup. Using the world cup as a 'window' does not really work in my view. There have been loads of instances of players shining at a tournament and then turing out to be crap. Look at the deal Gary Breen got after a few good performances for Ireland. I know we have little money, I know players, agents, managers go on holiday etc. but I still think we could sharpen up in this area. The start we had last season has to be avoided this August.

  5. Have folks seen this

    From Bluekipper:-

On Saturday at 2pm before the Birmingham Match Matteo Ferrari got into his car at the Park End Car Park and drove off. Before doing so he spoke to the supporters there, one of who was my daughter (no better Evertonian walks this earth) he was smarting and told them that he had had enough of Moyes and not being selected when he was told he wasn't even on the bench on Saturday he saw his arse and went. Now what we need to know is the truth, 'WHY'. No lies no waffle tell us the truth whats happening with a good player that he storms off in huff. We can't afford to lose players of his quality. Why was Stubbs on the bench and not Ferrari? Surely players of this quality are our future. Please Everton tell us the loyal supporters the truth. Rollo Torpey. 62 year veteran and still a season ticket holder. (24/04/06) :(

Humble apologies Adam I was too upset and didn't read the posts below!

  7. No mate, I didn't, what was he on about?.

He was being asked about Arsenal's performance last night. he went on a rant about there being no English players in the side and the consequences of that for the national game. He then had a rant about the question of the England manager and said that until an Englishman of sufficient calibre came along, they should have like a committee to choose the side like they do with the England cricket team!

    Another young player linked:-

Everton are being linked with a possible move for Ipswich Town's 18-year-old midfielder, Owen Garvan.

However, the Ipswich chairman has apparently said that he has no intentions of selling anyone during this summer - Courtesy of NSNO

  8. London, no offence intended, I like your opinions too much to cause any animosity, I was speaking purely as an Englishman, not an Evertonian.

Ian Wright, as you put it, is cack, but I love the guy's passion.

    ATB

No probs. Mac. You are right Ian Wright does have a lot of passion. Did you hear him on Radio five live this morning?

  9. There are rumours that VDM is an alcoholic but they are just bits of gossip when I met him he could just about stand but that was at a party.

I did the job last season and the amount of players i saw coming to view facilities speak to moyes and kenwright and not signing was amazing also the amount of investors kenwright speaks to and nothing comes of it

Claire do you know anything about all these Richard Branson take over or investment rumours. Did it just start because he attended a match once? :D

  10. Seeing as we are on the subject of commentators and pundits, who else feels the BBC should refuse to have anyone of a non-English persuasion doing the biz for the World Cup?.

I refer, of course, to those two red c*nts, Pinky and f*cking Perky. I have nothing against our illustrious Kingdom counterparts (tickled pink none of them qualified though), but who would you rather watch :-

Hansen, with his "diabolical defending" and "woeful positional play" or

Ian Wright, losing the plot, jumping up and hugging Gary Lineker?.

    NO F*CKING CONTEST.

Being a Welsh toffee, don't really see things this way. I think Lawrenson and Hansen have usually gone out of their way to be positive about Everton BECAUSE of their red history. I think Ian Wright as a pundit is about as useful as a rubber hammer. By the way one of the things I have always loved about Everton is the fact that it is a club that has always benefitted from players and managers drawn from all over Britain and does not seem to ever be associated with the Little Englander, dam buster chanting thugs we'll all have the pleasure of watching on our TV's this June. Can't wait......! :D

  11. If Arteta leaves, which is fairly likely (though not definite).

    Waste of money??

He's almost free and on less than 10k wages!!!!!!

He regularly outplays Davies for Wales and a for Kilbane...you are taking the mick!

He wasn't shite at West Brom, get it into you skulls he fell out with Robson is why he was dropped!!

According to his interview in the Blue Room, Arteta fully intends to be here next season. By the way he was asked: 'What was his highlight of the season?

answer:' The support of all the fans'. There was sod all else he could have said. He should have been a politician! :D

To say Koumas couldn't do it in the premiership because of one bad season at West Brom is a tad premature. Its not as if we will go out and buy Ballack or Essien over the summer. He could be a good replacement for Lie Tie, (squad player), leaving us to spend the big bucks on a striker. He's good on the left wing and as Bluebird says obviously has more potential than kilbane so where is the risk?

  12. buying players is only half the battle. youve then gotta pay them, and thats a lotta dough deez days.

a bigger stadium will help with that problem in the long term, and youve gotta think long term when an ordinary player costs 4-5 mill!

salaries and running costs arent going down in the near future so it seems to me that our main disadvantage is money for investment in players and stadium.

this requires a bit of creative thinking from the board! are they up for it?  <_<

I did hear from somewhere recently that a statement would definitely be made this year about the stadium and the options were now being closely looked at - but don't hold your breath....... :D

  13. Thanks for the video Bluebird. he looks good especially with free kicks. His placement looks great. He could be worth a second chance in the premiership. Players do improve. I know Robson wasn't happy with his attitude and I could imagine him and Moyes winding each other up. Moyes seems to like yes men.

  14. I'm an exile in London. Been lurking around the forums for a while and feel like Mr Angry much of the time, especially after Spurs. We should be better than them. Where is the investment! Supported the toffees since Billy Bingham days. I think Moyes is good for one more season. He has stabilised us but I really don't like the way we play. We are so predictible
