  1. Matching your clothes with your wife's when you already have your outfit sorted, grrr.

I have my outfit sorted for a Xmas do tonight, only to just be told that it won't match my wife's outfit and I have to find something that matches. Anyone else get this dilemma, it does my head in every time...

  2. Okay, I am going to bite. Do we have to post the same dribble on every single thread? This topic started out as a discussion about a potential takeover and soon spiralled down to the usual "Bill failed because...".

Not been back long but already fed up with reading the same thing in every thread I read.

    (Rant Over)

From limited reading on Mr Ross he seems a sport fanatic, which is always a bonus that they value sport not just as a business. The sceptical part of me doubts that this is in advanced talks though.

Does anyone else feel more open to a rich American owner where sport is part of everyday life? Rather than a consortium of business professionals who want to make some money from a Premiership football club?

  3. Interesting enough, this coach attended a seminar at finch farm where they look into young players 'eventual' height and build based on their parents size. I questioned the validity of this based on the fact that 3 of the best players in the world are short. But it does indicate the depth that these people go to.

Depends on position. You don't want a short centre back, you would want someone taller than the norm. Same for build, you don't want some skinny striker (Crouch only exception I can think of) you want a strong/athletic build up front. So it is a valid approach in the right context.

  4. 2 things with the post from bluekipper...well may be 3 things.

    1. Who blamed Kenwright for the collapse? It sounds nice and easy to blame Kenwright but do we know that the investors didn't pull out when they had a better offer of PSG?

    2. I don't get the "his past proves the point"? (Genuinely)

    3. Do we know what sort of investment PSG have had since their takeover? Have we missed out with that investor?

  5. Wow, lots of testosterone running through this discussion. :)

Back to the David Moyes part of the discussion...I think he has been wonderful for our football club, truly stabilised our sinking ship. I am a huge admirer of his and he will always be part of my memories of Everton.

At the moment we are all fairly negative for numerous reasons and if things were going well may be I wouldn't be thinking this, but I honestly think Moyes is nearing his expiration date - a bit like a loaf of bread, when you bought it you it had a long date on it and it made the nicest, softest sandwiches but as the days go by the sandwiches you make with it just don't taste as fresh anymore. I don't think we are quite at the mouldy stage though. (Apologies for the terrible analogy, made sense in my head whilst writing this...)

If Moyes turns it around then I am sure we would all love to be proved wrong. In fact, I hope he does prove us all wrong but I can't help but join the growing numbers who are starting to doubt Moyes' managerial "freshness" right now. I have had a hectic last 6 months or so but only missed 2 games this season, so I really look forward to and think positive about each game but at the moment I keep coming away completely deflated.

  6. No. Not only do I not like him as a person (although I have never met him personally) I think his disruptive influence could damage team morale badly. I don't think we could continue to play with him in the dressing room causing problems. It would come down to a battle between him and Moyes. Moyes would win but the trouble would be awful. I don't care if he is Messi, Kaka and Pele rolled into one, no player is worth damaging the squad togetherness for.

I'm with Rubes on this one.

  7. The fan share approach that Arsenal have is far better than putting an extra £100 on the cost of a season ticket. When it comes down to it, fans will not pay the extra in masses because there is no control over what the money is used for. Plus, I could imagine the majority of fans have other priorities to spend their extra money on rather than giving it (indirectly) to overpaid footballers.

  8.

Agreed, i had to eat humble pie when he went to City. When we were linked to him before, I used to think he was no better than Downing (Who i don't really rate) and he turns out to be much better all-round player. Already impressing in pre-season, he won't go anywhere

I have always been an admirer of Johnson when he just broke in to Middlesborough (think I raved about him on this forum mostly). Still think he is awesome but like so many players his progression has halted somewhat because he doesn't play every week.

  9. My opinion, the only thing that would stop the sale of the club is either price or willingness of the board members to sell.

A new stadium is not neccesary as such, the ability to redevelop goodison is an option.

I would say that willingness of board members to sell is more likely than price, they likely want to retain a controlling interest with any takeover. Interestingly when you see news articles about the potential sale you often see the words "investment" rather than "takeover".

  10. To be fair to Anichebe he's had to contend with injury, and playing a bit part role in the team behind preferred strikers. I don't know too many lads of his age that 'don't' have attitudes.

He was class in Europe, but always as a sub, and he has always been way down the list of preferred strikers in a team that usually only plays one.

He has a lot to offer, but that can only come to fruition if he has the starting slot in a team every week, and he won't get that at Everton. He needs to move away if he will realise his true potential, be it on loan or permanently.

For me, fans are a little hard on the young lad.

(ps, I find it difficult to post at the moment. Is it just me? It says 'saving post' but seems to time out. Often I have to refresh and re-post. )

    This.
