  1. ROMEY 1878 {At this moment in time Everton looks like a bit of a joke and I'm getting sick of it.}

I disagree entirely. The teams who buy and sell like crazy every year like our dearest neighbours for example are the joke Romey not us. Yes our squad is small and its frustrating that we have to sell to buy. But to say we're a joke because we don't buy square players to fit in round holes is a tad harsh.

I like the stability of knowing when we buy a player they're probably going to be around by the time their contract expires and we won't have to sell them at a knock down price in twelve months time because they where a gap filler.

  2. I'm not disapointed thats he's gone to Arsenal, it shows what a stupid kid he is, having his head turned by the bright lights and private jets. He's going to feel right at home in the gunners dressing room with a bunch of foreigners. Not to mention the fact Arsenal appear to be losing all their best players, he's going to club everyone seems to want to leave.

Everton will appeal to players who don't want to be the only brit at the party. Clearly Ramseys not one of them. Good riddens he wasn't for us, his heads in the clouds.

  3. Agree with what you are saying but if can sign him for another 12 month loan contract then why not do that and use the £12m or so on another player.

Because he needs stability, and frankly I'd like to know he's ours and another club couldn't just come in and take him if he has an amazing season with us..................Thats the problem Romey he wouldn't be ours GSI would still own a 50% share of the player. We tried to buy him outright and it failed. I for one am glad Moyes doesn't want a part owned player.

  4. Valancia paid Benfica 6 million for a 50% stake in Manuel. So if they're asking for 12 for a player who's done nothing but warmed their bench and been loaned out, then I can see why DM doesn't want anything to do with this deal. You are only getting half a player for that price. I like MF he was starting to find his old form in the last few games. I just can't blame Everton for washing their hands of this one, which ever way you slice it, its a poor deal and one that should be left well alone.

  5. QUOTE (notashardasbigdunc @ Jun 8 2008, 6:18 PM)

its like living in poland round here so maybe them

It look like it'll be tough job for Poland to qualify from their group now. I'm not surprised that nobody has gone for Croatia, who look the more likely to advance from the group stage.

    MikeO

    That's a good point....they're very nearly British !

Kubica looks like he's going to win the Grand Prix as well.....go BritPoles !

Kubica was amazing, it would have been a different story if Hamilton had shunted him and not Riks. It looked like Hamo turned at the last 2nd.

but hats of to bmw for pulling off an incredible 1-2

  6. I'm not sure which team to support in Euro2008, as there are no Everton players represented there.

Its easy to know who not to support (Spain). There are two teams with no EPL players in their ranks, Italy & Romania. I think I'll go for Italy to do the double...

Ferreira -Chelsea. Emre - Newcastle Lehman - Arsenal Anelka -Chelsea.

Carvalho -Chelsea. Tuncay -Boro Ballack -Chelsea Diara - Pompey.

    Ronaldo -Man U. Gallas -Arsenal.

Nani -Man U. Evra- Man U.

    Makelele - Chelsea.

Kusczak -Man U. Pogatetz- Boro. Van de Sar -Man U. Malouda -Chelsea.

    Fabianski -Arsenal. ooijer - Blackburn.

    Senderos -Arsenal. Melchiot - Wigan.

Djourou -Arsenal. Gainnakopoulos -Bolton. Bouma -Villa. Baros - Villa.

    Van Persie -Arsenal. Cech -Chelsea.

    Modric - Spurs Arbeloa -Shite.

    Kranjcar -Pompey Fabregas -Arsenal.

    Alonso -Shite.

    Torres -Shite.

  7. Theres alot of interest in this young man, lets hope he keeps his feet on the ground. Lets hope too that he's got trusted people around him to help him make one hell of a tough decision and that he isn't influenced too much by his agents.

1st team football in the premier league or three or four years warming the bench for the big four, perhaps a start in the carling cup and the probability of being loaned back to a championship club anyway.

  8. I dont mind either way about this one for one five million is too much for a kid who's made only sixteen starts in a career that began in January just gone.

Everton have the advantadge of not needing English players for the future as roughly seventy percent of our first team are English. Some of the other clubs vying for his signature don't have that luxury.

Any club buying for the future in which category Aaron firmly sits must take into account Sebbs new rulings. If this boy was English I wouldn't expect us to have any hope of signing him. However he's Welsh and this may be a stumbling block for some clubs.

  9. I wondered how long it would take the city council to notice how much revenue they stand to lose when Everton relocate to Knowsley. A tidy sum I hazard to guess, tough on them if you ask me. They say you never know what you've got till its gone.

I had always been in favour of a shared stadium purely on environmental grounds, one stadium equals less concrete than two. Environmental issues far outweigh any personal doubts I may have about sharing sacred turf with the shite. The environment should always come first, no matter what. Sadly that is never the case and it all comes down to pounds and pence at the end of the day.

Expect this to rumble on as Liverpool City councils accountants start planning future ventures without the extra revenue Goodison provides.

  10. We should be grateful Rodwell has signed a contract, the likes of Chelsea, Man U & Arsenal are always trying to poach academy players from other clubs.

Heres a example of how clubs can get truly shafted by the likes of Chelsea.

    Scott Sinclair...

Controversially, Chelsea signed the player in July 2005 without asking Bristol Rovers for permission to speak to him, let alone agreeing a fee. In November 2005 Chelsea were set an initial fee of £200,000 by a tribunal to pay Bristol Rovers and up to an extra £750,000 may become due depending on how successful he is at his new club. Chelsea will also have to pay Bristol Rovers 15% of any profit they make if they sell him.

200k for a 15 year old who made his Premier League début.

I remember Man U trying to persuade Rooney to join them when he was 15. If that had gone through we'd have lost millions. I don't think Everton would stand by and let any team have carte blanche over our up and coming starlets. At least I hope not.

  11. Another Joachim part owned player like Manny, perhaps Everton will buy his left leg and rent the other one for a season with the option to purchase the rest of him in instalments. Who knows anymore, ive given up trying to understand these part owned deals.

I do think it looks positive because weve had dealings with Joachim in the past. I hope we can strike a deal, although I doubt Moyes would spend 18 mil on a player with just one international cap to his name but who knows?

  12. er... didn't Man Utd make a huge loss (again) over the last year or so? It was on the back page of the Daily Mail the other day.

Yes Carl they did lose money as a club but this doesn't take into account merchandise, these are the figures for the football club alone. Tv rights, ticket sales what have you. When Manchester United start crying poverty we're all up chitty creak.

  13. In my view there is just a big one, because bar Manchester United who make a profit every year theres not a club in this league who isn't running at a defecit.

Well, I'm willing to bet Derby had a profitable season, seeing as they got a 50 million pound windfall and hardly spent anything on new players. Think Arsenal might be turning a profit too, with all the extra money from that new stadium of theirs,

EVERY YEAR! I wouldnt expect Derby to make 50 mil every year JD, but I agree Arsenal are a good model for the rest of the league however with an initial lay out of 400 plus million for their lucrative new stadium it may be a couple more years before they feel the full benefit of that revenue. In the meantime they will struggle to keep key players, who can earn twice as much in wages at other clubs than they can at Arsenal.

  14. The big four what does that mean anyway, not so many seasons ago it was the big five, then it was the big two?

In my view there is just a big one, because bar Manchester United who make a profit every year theres not a club in this league who isn't running at a defecit.

Yes breaking into the top four is lucrative because of the revenue from the champions league but who knows what will happen there. Platini wants to reduce all the number of clubs from one country to three by 2010, To spend millions now to break into the top four could be suicidal for any club including those already in the top four.

Everton have made huge steps in the right direction and god willing will continue to gain valuable experience in the Uefa Cup, season after season. Best learn to walk before you learn to run.

  15. However its a nice feeling going into our last home game of the season knowing whatever happens theres a place waiting for us in next years Uefa Cup.

Would be a nice feeling if it were true and it meant anything....but it isn't and it doesn't. Man City will very likely get it, and even if we did get it it's no better than the Intertoto place we're already assured of....

I didn't know City had leap frogged us in the fair play league, good for them. Thankyou for pointing that out. As I said sometime ago the last time I recall a fair place being available City where the beneficiaries. But we are going into the last game of the season assured of a route into next seasons Uefa cup and it is a nice feeling thankyou.

  16. Newcastle have kept a clean sheet away from home a mighty impressive twice this season. Once at Fulham, once agains't Pompey. Their defensive record could be described as poor at best. A clean sheet agains't the barmy army is all that lies between us and Uefa Cup football next season. Its in our own hands and I'm sure we'd have all taken that at the start of the season.

  17. The team played very well, for me it was the best performance Manuel has made in a blue jersey this season. More of the same infront of the home crowd next week and I'm confident we will rap up the point we need for Uefa Cup football. Our defence has been rock solid all season just one more clean sheet from Howard and company and we can start planning for another season with added revenue.

  18. "Our result against Derby County was 1-0 at home (shite) Villas 6-0 against them was away"

Our away result agains't derby was 2-0 as i have already pointed out to you licker.

You said our results didn't compare to Villa's, but as I explained there not likely to if you use there home results agaisn't our away results and vice versa.

Its not the best idea if you're looking for comparisons.

"If they hadn't beaten these teams they wouldn't deserve to be in the top ten let alone challanging us for 5th spot." . "I can remember getting beat at Reading" I

Is this the same Reading who stuffed the shite and who have run hot and cold all season by chance? and only a couple of weeks ago getting beat by Fulham, so i take it you dont think we deserve to be in the top ten either" Please don't assume to know what I think. Or use sarcasm rather than make a valid point.
