We desperately need some playmaking in the middle of the field to bring some attack. Arteta can't come back soon enough. Pienaar has done what he can, but no one else is really doing anything. Why can't Moyes play Bily?

So we got £22m for Lescott which is approx £19m in the coffers. We had a £5m offer for Kyle Naughton before we considered selling Lescott. That takes our budget to £24m at least.

Distin = £5m

 

Leaves us with £10m remaining of what we as fans should expect to be available. If after finishing 5th with a cup final we are only given £5m to spend then it's a disgrace, Moyes has operated on a ridiculous net transfer budget for too long now, and the board really do need to get their fingers out, there are some wealthy people in their who are just waiting for a payday and are not prepared to back the manager, it's a case of put up or get out. I feel we have been more than patient enough.

 

It would be interesting to see our finance reports. We have been in a great position not to gamble, but to have a calculated risk in strengthening our squad with players like Moutinho etc who would have taken us close to that 4th spot, alas now I feel even the likes of Liverpool will struggle to do that given the resurgence of Arsenal, Spurs and Man City along with the perenial contenders of Chelsea and Man Ure.

 

Unless we are lucky with injuries and the likes of Distin and Bily settle and improve the squad we will struggle to make the top 6 and we will continue to shop at Aldi whilst the rest of the aforementioned teams take their pick of the elite. Just watching the goal we conceeded against Wigan made me realise just how weak our right side is, and unless that is rectified, it will be a focal point of attack by other teams in the prem and we will concede goal after goal.

Couldn't agree more. If we don't pull something magic off in this transfer window we might have to settle for 7th or even 8th spot. Scary stuff.

Couldnt agree more. I just happen to think that if we do sign Johnny H that RB and CB is no longer a priority so the next position that needs sorting is right mid

Right mid is kind of sorted because Billy will play on left and push Pienaar on the right. I think right back is most important but as it looks like being fixed then defensive mid is next priority before right mid.

No it doesnt, its called competition for places all the top clubs have it!

We don't have anywhere near as much money as the "Top Clubs" so with the little money that we do have wouldn't it be wiser to improve the positions that need improving rather than just creating competition.

yakubu but its close! saha can create a goal out of nothing but yakubu can poach a goal out of nothing at times! hes goal record speaks for itself and hes just so powerful i think hes great to give the ball to to hold up and i know saha can do this but it seems that we play a long ball for him to flick on more often when hes playin! id be interested to see them both together when fit though!

Saha for sure. Many people are forgetting that Yakubu is incredibly lazy and only runs when we have the ball. Also he was in terrible form when he got injured. 1 goal in 10 games if I remember correctly.

To be honest I just cant see Bentley coming. If he does then great but I wont believe anything the papers talk about until I see them holding a scalf aloft next to Moysey. Its all gone very quiet regarding Banega hasnt it.................

If this does happen it means either Billy or Pienaar will be warming the bench. Billy is too expensive for that and Pienaar is playing too well for that. I think a defensive mid is more important at the moment.
