  1. i think the best solution is for one of us to start the next facebook/myspace/youtube/google, make billions and then massively invest in everton!

in all seriousness though, i cannot understand why we don't have investors queuing up around the corner to invest in everton. if any of them were to look at our track record over the last few years then it should seriously be a no brainer to invest in everton. yet they go and invest in sides like man city, west ham and birmingham city. i also cannont honestly understand how portsmouth had 3 (or was it 2?) owner changes over the past season. i mean seriously, who in their right mind would want to own portsmouth?

Investors usually choose s**t clubs because they are cheap so are more likely to make them money (providing they are successful in turning the club around) so minimum capital for maximum Return On Investment (ROI). The only way they would take on a big club is if (A) the club has high value assets (this is how Man U are surviving), or (B) the investor has such obscene amounts of cash that making a loss is not a problem (i.e. Abramovich). Therefore, you would think that we are the best option around as we are relatively cheap (im guessing £70-80M would buy the majority of shares) but with still the potential to generate money i.e. win cups, merchandise...So the fact that no-one is interested leads me to believe the financial structure of the club is too fragile for such an initial outlay, or BK is being meticulous and stubborn in finding someone who cares (which I think is right). But with contacts such as Lord Granchester, Lloyd-Webber, and Robert Earl & Hollywood mates, you would have thought it would be easy. If we don't get someone in the next 2-3 years, I doubt we'll ever get someone.......

  2. I would rather we spend the money we do have on tieing down Arteta and Peanuts then bring in new midfielders or strikers. We could sell yobo to raise the cash for a left back to cover Baines but maybe we should finally be bringing some of the young guns through i.e. mustafi, jutkewitz, coleman, duffy, agard, baxter etc so they are ready to fill boots that will soon get hung (Cahill, Neville, Distin, Saha). Think of the young players like peterlin, arnoux, ruddy that come in and never get near the 1st team before we 'release' them - they need contracts as well. Maybe this year Moyes feels ready to actually use the likes of coleman, jutkewitz, duffy, rodwell, etc this year i.e carling cup....

  3. No doubt, just look at last season where we had a handful of players, playing out of position. I don't think Hibbert will ever be able to 'replace' Leighton Baines but, with little funds I doubt we'd be able to find a defender who is as good as Hibbert, even if that's not his natural position. But let's bare in mind Toby Hibbert started out with us as a Striker, so maybe RB isn't his natural position either.

Sometimes, i don't think hibbert is good enough to replace hibbert... :D

  4. 1) Chelsea

    2) Manchester United

    3) Arsenal

    4) Manchester City

    5) Tottenham Hotspurs

    6) Everton

    7) Liverpool

    8) Aston Villa

    9) Brimingham

    10) Stoke

    11) Sunderland

    12) Fulham

    13) Blackburn

    14) West Ham

    15) Bolton

    16) Newcastle

    17) Wolves

    18) Wigan

    19) West Brom

    20) Blackpool

9th to 17th so difficult to call but wolves, fulham and bolton in for a bad year...Newcastle only promoted team to survive...just

  5. ok, at the risk of sounding stupid:

"Gosling joined Everton from Plymouth in January, 2008 on an £8,000-a-week, three-year deal."

    which would mean Jan 2011?

    or is the article wrong?

Indeed, Evertonfc.com confirm that he signed 14.01.2008 so there is definately more to this story. Even if a player signs in august, their contracts always run out at the end of june so we need some clarification regarding contracts....

  6. Player swaps very rarely happen, especially in the Premier League.

Plus, I just don't see the club wanting to accept that - we lose one players wages and gain three players wages. It just doesn't make sense.

True...for their salaries combined, we could offer Mik double his salary. TBH, I think its just journalist linking every player possible to Man City because of their money...It will be interesting there this year...Y. Toure or Barry in the middle???

  7. I've always preferred tops which show creative use of all team colours so a flash of white in the shirt would have been good but I like its sleek design, and will be buying it asap. Must admit, after the away kit, I was expecting some sort of psychadellic rainbow of colours so im glad to see just blue. Also, think dixie should keep the kit on all season.

  8. To go....Anichebe (not scoring goals), Turner or Nash (3 keepers is enough), Yobo (too casual in possession hence mistakes), Hibbert (lacking quality/technique)

Bring in...Carlos Salcido - LB backup for baines(good performances for Mexico at WC2010), Micah Richards - RB replace Hibbert & CB backup (not needed at Eastlands), and KP Boateng - Midf. to rotate with ossie and billy.(single handedly carried Ghana at WC2010)

Starting XI: Howard, Richards, Heitinga, Jags, Baines, Neville, Arteta, Pienaar, Fellaini, Cahill, Yak/Beckford/Saha

Carling Cup XI: Mucha, Coleman, Duffy, Distin, Salcido, Rodwell, Gosling, Osman/Boateng, Billy/Boateng, Jutkewitz, Vaughn

  9. Even if we qualify for Europe, I still worry about losing Pienaar...he looks like he is recapturing his magic from prior to the injury and the goal on Saturday will make teams like man city, arsenal et al take a bit more notice. I also think that we are reaching the glass ceiling on our wage bill so improved contracts i.e. Saha, will be more and more difficult to negotiate....Also, if ther is an exodus, will Moyes have the motivation to rebuild all over again....

Hopefully, none of this will be an issue after we claw ourselves back into the top 6 and make a final appearance in Europa cup...COYB

  10. I am keeping all fingers and toes crossed for a late surge up the league to the top 6, BUT, we have an awful lot of ground to make up on Spurs and City so if we don't make europe is anyone else worried about the players we will lose in the Summer - Arteta, Cahill, Pienaar, Fellaini and even Jags would be seeking top level footy....???

  11. It may be that this is the only way we are able to bring in Senderos, but with our track record of landing transfer targets, its a big risk, especially when we have no way of knowing when Jags or Distin, or Yobo (Nigeria wil probably still progress in African Cup) will be back. It may be that Moyes wants to bring in someone not cup-tied in Europe....

  12. nothing on the everton website so unsure about the truth to this...would be a good option for us though. Nevilles injury has forced moyes to use heitinga as defensive midfielder as its not ideal to just have rodwell in that position - hopefully he can shake off his 'little boy lost'/'headless chicken' approach and settle there. Neil will then be used at RB as I don't think moyes wants to break up the yobo-distin partnership.....otherwise moysey, I can play right back!!!! ;)

  13. OMG we finally sign someone an someone still moans :P

    hope we get taylor now.

not so much of moan, more an observation on how resources for signings are being used for non-essential recruitment. I am happy we have our very own Alexandra (the meercat), but hope we now switch our attention to bulking up our squad with defenders before spurs and villa take them all....I.M.W.T. C.O.Y.B

  14. http://www.liverpooldailypost.co.uk/src/webroot/ldp2/everton-fc/everton-fc-news/2009/08/25/everton-eyeing-sylvain-distin-following-diniyar-bilyaletdinov-signing-100252-24522100/

Daily Post also saying we are about to sign him for £5M and seem to think he will be in before the weekend.

I think he is much better thean some of the CBs we are being linked with just not so sure about paying £5M for someone his age.

I think of all the defenders we are being linked with my prefered pecking order would be

    1. Taylor

    2. Distin

    3. Shawcross

    4. Cahill

    5. Wheater

    6. Senderos

    7. Samba

    8. Craig Short

    9. Glen Keeley

    10. Huth

Craig Short before Robert Huth...Not Ex Everton & Derby @Craig Short???...Is he still playing???

  15. From what I've read this guy is left footed, tall (6'1"), and pacy, and can score goals... isn't that just what we've been looking for? Hope this guy works out for us.

I thought moyes said he was looking for defensive cover (CB and LB).....even before lescott left. We could be getting Banega though.....oh wait, hes a midfielder too...Defence Moyes, Defence!!!!

  16. and i do mean Lescott, im not on about him leaving for more money etc, but the fact that the move has stalled because he is demanding his LOYALTY BONUS because the transfer request was turned down! he is there for entitled to a lump sum from everton! They are telling him to go fuck himself basically! my god what a neck this guy has! i cant wait to see what reception he gets when he comes back to goodison now.

haha...wouldn't it be hilarious if the move couldn't be completed because of this or because he couldn't agree personal terms.....does it not occur to him that now that we have agreed to sell, we are in fact, by default, accepting his transfer request hence waivering his right to the 'bonus'

  17. Thought it might be worth starting a discussion on our supposed illegal tapping dossier that we will be handing to the FA regarding Man Citys approach of that centre back who we just sold for 6 million less than we valued him at....his name escapes me now...

Has anyone got any thoughts or news on the matter? Personally, I think its a bit of a waste of time given that Chelsea only got a £300,000 fine and a suspended points deduction from Ashley Cole-gate......£300,000 for man city is barely equivalent to a slap on the little finger let alone the wrists....

  18. It must be his attitude since the Arsenal game, I THINK HE WAS OUR BEST DEFENDER, and did anybody see his break from his own penalty area took the ball deep into Arsenals half, passed to Jo and run into the area for a return pass and joe lost it. I thought his attitude in that game was ok and he played well. Would like him playing tonight whatever his attitude.

I feel he must go now that Moyes has slagged him and made it public.

I am pretty sure that Moyes did say that it was his attitude SINCE the [arsenal] game at the weekend...he also mentioned that he felt he has been receiving 'poor information'....I would probably reckon that this is where the true problem of this whole saga lies....advisors, agents etc of EFC, MCFC and Lescott trying to pull him in every direction, little whispers in his ears "go to city, stay here, double your wages, world cup squad".... I would have difficulty concentrating on my game if i was being pulled from pillar to post and having my head brainwashed...I think he needs to disappear into a big black hole until 5pm 1st Sept ....White Hart Lane may be able to offer temporary use of there footballer black hole....hahaha

  19. Well, we'll see tonight. We're playing the Euroligue match against Stabaek, Baraja is injured, same as Fernandes*, so Banega will have to play. If he doesn't play, we'll know for sure that Valencia and Everton do have an agreement. But if he plays, I think he will stay here, of course.

*For those who asked, Fernandes is a good player, with great skills with the ball, and a great body. Here last season played 70 minutes with a broken fibula, without knowing it. But it seems that he's got little implication with the club.

He will probably still play regardless...especially if you have nobody else...it wouldnt stop us from pursuing him. It may not weven matter if we have a nightmare against Sigma tonight....

  20. Eugeni, seems strange because Everton have confirmed that they will attend the Home Office (the UK government department controlling immigration) tomorrow to seek a work permit for Banega - so there must be some agreement between Valencia and Everton.

However, I think it is unlikely that Everton will be successful, so maybe Emery is saying all these things so that when he has to take the player back it shows that he always wanted him in the team?

    We'll both know better tomorrow!

exactly....i cant imagine we would bother attending a work permit hearing and confirm it on the website if there hadn't been some form of agreement...
