my bad....completely forgot what other teams were in our group....
-
...and PAOK vs herenveen....wasn't we split into groups???
-
how did hearts get zagreb....?

Ok. I know i'll get the predictable barrage of abuse city fans seem to get every where now. But let me just ask. If you have a player that blatantly wants to play for another club (irregardless of how long he has left on his contract). Why in the hell would you even want to keep him?
It seems people are 100% against City breaking the top 4. WHY? If there is one club in the country that deserves the good fortune we are now enjoying, surely it's us! You should all be happy for us. But all we get is Bile spewed at us from every direction. All based on fear (on behalf of the "Established" top 4), And Envy (every other Prem league club, Especially Everton, Villa, Spurs Etc).
Another thing that bugs me is all this Hughes bashing?????
I simply DON'T get it.
You say he tries to bully clubs and acts disrespectfully in regards to our transfer policy. How so? Have any of you actually heard the way he deals with questions directed towards him concerning possible transfer targets? He wouldn't even say Lescotts name in a recent interview because he isn't our player. His exact words were "we have had two bids rejected for the player, and thats where we stand". How in the hell is that "Disrespectful"??? Moyes (who i rate as a very good manager) says it's "disrespectful" not to "phone" a fellow manager about a possible transfer. Thats just not how we do things at City. We do things through official channels. That way everything is above board. We are well within our right to put as many bids as we wish for any player. Just as the owning club has every right to turn those offers down.
The fact is Moyes REALLY wants to keep Lescott, But knows the player prefers to talk to City. Plus Everton are skint. So in the interest of his club. He will eventually give in at a reasonable price (£22M)
How do we know he blatantly wants to play for another club?....its the same people who said he does i.e. the sun...that said he was to be unveiled at city yesterday.....what happened there?
Of course we are against city breaking into the top 4....we want to get there as well...if we can both get there, then all is ok but there realisically is only one space available at the moment....and why exactly do you deserve it? We have been in the top flight for over 50 seasons straight, and after years in the doldrums, we have worked our way up to the top end of the league through sheer blood, sweat and tears....you have effectively won the lottery and started buying your way up. This is why people are p***ed off.
The Hughes bashing just comes with the territory....I think also, most people don't think Hughes is the man to take city to where your riches should take you....and there seems to be a hint of smugness that he suddenly has all this money to play with....Moyes works off the same page as Fergie in that it takes time, hardwork and dedication to build a great team...not a flukey russian oil shareholder or royal arab.
Hopefully this provides some reasoning behind your questions.....

I'm half hoping we go out but I hate losing!
I would like us to be in europa cup as long as poss, but also think we can win the league cup so Im torn....If I was forced into a decision, I would prefer to see us in europe...it would really p**s me off to see villa and fulham playing in europe come november....the league cup goes relatively unoticed until the semis....
-
I'm sure Sigma have just beaten Aberdeen 8-1 on aggregate. Although Aberdeen are not great, Sigma can't be that bad to post that sort fo score against them.
Would probably like to avoid PAOK.
Indeed they did so im changing my decision...I will instead go for PAOK (who scraped through vs Valerenga) and look forward to another wonder goal of team one-touch football as per the Larissa match....also we want to be away in the 1st leg....
Home or Away for the first leg folks????
-
If you take a look at the performance of the scottish teams already in the competition, I think hearts could be a good draw....I am also tempted to go for PAOK as the greeks tend to be more predictable (also remember Larissa) unlike the eastern europeans (Metalist Kharkiv)...however, Im gonna go with Sigma

But one core value of all businesses is to drive down costs...why pay £6M if the seller is willing to sell for £4M. Negotiating with suppliers is standard....

good view on the situation. there are alot of factors that just dont make this straight forward at all. good ole'toffee's
could be another player they want in exchange.....hibbert???
-
Sounds a winner to me.....can we work Amanda Holden in somewhere (preferably in an Everton kit)?
Or Kelly Brook seeing as she wasn't able to keep her spot on BGT....but sod the kit, I say just a scarf or hat will do.....
-
but it seems Ourselves and Arsenal are the only people that dont know the deal is done yet....haha no doubt something will come out soon...
-
ok, but slap a £35M price tag on him...a transfer request will be no good if city dont want to pay £35M for him....and in the world cup year, it wouldn't make sense for him to sulk cause he never got the transfer and be on the bench every week, so im sure that in this situation, he would still do his job....
a possible outcome could be though, we sell him and get Nedum on loan for 3 or 6 months - even though he signed new contract, he is still down the pecking order
-
So another trip to the US of A and another player to catch a bug...hibbert wasn't a big loss but I think pre-season trips to the states should be avoided in future....
-
We've signed him according to Arseblog:

One year loan confirmed -

Think they all got the story from the arsenal blog site - lazy journalism. SSN have only have it down as a possibilty so far
-
I have to say, that story coming out that he was injured was a lot more reassuring that he won't leave, rather than them just announcing the team line-ups and him not being there without a reason. I'm going to hold on to faith for the meantime.
Suppose it could be a dirty tactic on our part....pretend he is injured to put city off for the nxt four weeeks...we could have said it was a cruciate though...a minor hip injury would not be enough and would only serve to drive the price down....
-
think they are just trying to build bridges after sneakily using our scouting and stealing our transfer......
-
Hibbert - need I say anything
Anichebe - is in his make or break season
Turner - we have had turner and ruddy sitting on the sidelines for ages. Ruddy has just gone on loan but can't forgive Turner for the howler vs Man U - would call ruddy back if needed.
-
I went for someone else - possibly Bentley as it is something that we are missing (right winger) and he seems surplus to requirements, but i think villa may tempt him and sunderland want him so he may want to go to a 'bigger club'
-
Wes Brown - £7M - Experienced and Versatile. Would be 1st choice right back but can cover CB
Huth - £2M (as quoted) - Man Mountain old school defender
Bentley £11M - More natural width and ability to score goals such as the one vs Arsenal
-
From a football perspective, and to show these 2 bit billionaires that they can't just steam roll clubs into selling then I'd like to think that we'd keep hold of him.
However, realistically the club clearly needs to cash to strengthen the squad in other areas and I'd like to get that cash in as early as possible as we hardly have a great track record in finalising deals quickly.
It's inevitable that he'll leave, the money on offer in wages make it too good to refuse so I'd say accept anything above £22m
The difference between us and Villa with Barry is that Villa have the cash to buy other players whereas we need to funds from this to bring players in (it seems) and £22m, although unlikely to all go on transfers, would enable us to bring 4 or 5 players in, maybe some freebies on decent wages which will strengthen the squad massively.
I'd like to request that we got one of their CB's on loan until January as part of the deal but that seems unlikely now
Richard Dunne????
-
We basically need to do what villa did with barry last year and price him out of a move...man city will probably only try one more time so even if lescott requests a transfer, if they dont meet the price.....and I think Lescott wouldnt sulk, he'd just get on with it again especially if he wants to go to the world cup.

Not really anywhere to add this without starting a new thread, but no-one seems to have mentioned that we've won a trophy this season - the MLS AllStars one.....does anyone know if we get to keep it (or a replica)?
Just something positive amongst the doom and gloom.....
to add to that...seems we were the first overseas team to win it.....
