  1. Rafael Benitez has defended his decision to take off 20-goal leading scorer Fernando Torres with 25 minutes left at Birmingham – and insists Liverpool can achieve a Premier League top-four finish.

Benitez argued countryman Torres was too tired to finish the game at St Andrew’s and said he would do the same again, despite the Spain striker appearing disappointed by the decision.

He said: “Was Torres injured? No, he was exhausted. He had some ice just to protect his knee, but he was really tired, like the other players who played on Thursday against Benfica (in the Europa League).”

The man has well and truly lost it, taking Torres off for N'Gog! Gerrard's face was a picture, even he knows what a muppet that man is!

  2. this talk of takeover crap has been going on for years and to be honest i like the way how our club is running.

We has a small debt compared to the likes of the mancs, the shites and portsmouth.

We don't need and we are much better off of not having a sugar daddy running our club

Agreed, though some money would be nice!! We don't want or need someone who will come in and turn us into City, Moyes just needs about £25 million a each summer and the knowledge that he doesn't have to sell in order to buy

  3. Under-fire manager Gianfranco Zola has promised to roll his sleeves up and lead West Ham away from the threat of relegation from the Premier League (6/5 West Ham – To Be Relegated).

The Italian flew to Sardinia at the weekend to consider his future in response to Saturday’s potentially-disastrous 1-0 defeat by Stoke – West Ham’s sixth straight loss – and admitted he was considering “if the problem is me”.

West Ham are locked on 27 points with Hull (4/5 Hull – To Be Relegated) but are only out of the relegation places on goal difference.

Now, Zola has nailed his flag to the mast and insists he will not walk away from Upton Park until his job is done.

He said: “I am determined to carry on.”

The former Italy striker added: “Losing on Saturday was emotional for everyone but I know we can turn it around and we have the ability to achieve our objectives.”

Fair play he seems like a decent bloke but has been let down by poor management from the top, both past and present.

Any more crap from Sullivan and he should walk though, he is better than that!

  4. Rafael Benitez said his Liverpool players lacked character and attitude after their 1-0 Premier League defeat at Wigan left their Champions League qualification hopes hanging in the balance.

Benitez said: “There were too many things that were wrong tonight.

“We have to be really disappointed and it is really difficult to explain.

“Wigan had more desire than us, especially in the first half.

“It was a question of attitude in the first half. We didn’t do well and gave the ball away far too much.

“In the second half the attitude was much better but sometimes we were playing in too much of a hurry.

“We prepared for the game properly and we talked about how to approach it, but tonight there are too many things that I can’t understand.

“If you approach games like that you can’t win anything. We have to analyse why we didn’t show the character we need to show.”

Ha ha ha whinge all you want Rafa but you signed most of those players so you are the only one to blame!!!

  5. Sitting the fence here I can see why people would get rid of Ossie, he is quite inconsistent. But I couldn't see us getting a decent replacement in for less than what we would sell Ossie for.

Moyes can't really afford to make losses on his players at the moment so unless he gets a load of cash and he can afford to buy World-class squad players I think Ossie is an asset to the squad.

  6. As much as I would love to re-develop Goodison its surrounding area will not help generate the funds require to do so - it is true that no-one will want to stay in Walton other than on matchdays. A shiny new hotel will not change that. The perfect opportunity was Kings Dock, which we fluffed up massively. If there is another waterfront plot free somewhere, we need to look into it.

  7. Good News!!

Liverpool’s hopes of securing a top-four finish have been further hit after boss Rafael Benitez confirmed key defender Fabio Aurelio will be out for up to three weeks.

The injury-prone full-back suffered his latest setback when he sustained a thigh injury in the 2-1 win over Blackburn on Sunday.

The news is the latest defensive blow for Benitez following the confirmation earlier in the week that Martin Skrtel will miss the rest of the season with a foot injury.

Pity that Greek dude isn't injured too after what he did to Fellaini!

  8. ...according to this Premier League article.

Almost certain to miss United game, maybe more. Moyes mus be tearing his hair out. Why do we get so many injuries, the Fellaini one really makes me wonder whether we are cursed.

I don't know the stats but no other team has had the amount of serious injuries we have had in the past 18 months - Yak,Arteta,Jags, Vic, Neville and now Fellaini

  9. Why is it everytime one of our players comes into from they get injured? Areta Jags even Big Vic played a blinder against Villa in the cup before his ankle got smashed by Kevin Nolan the following week.

Afew months ago if Fellaini got injured no-one would be that bothered but now, in the form of his life, he is out for six months...are we cursed or something?????

  10. The only good thing to come out of that game was the return of Arteta, though I fear we will rush him back out of desperation if our other players fail to perform.

I read some of his comments in this football article on the FA Cup, but I'm worried we will expect too much from him too soon. Don't forget he was playing poorly for about 6 months at the end of 07/08 and start of 08/09 season when he was carrying an injury. It ws just a shame that he was playing the best football of his career when he injured himself.

I think we should just go full tilt for the EUROPA League this season and make it three in a row - Carling Cup Semi, FA Cup Final next, Europa winners after that!!

  11. Buying the housing would be a problem I'm sure Liverpool had all sorts of trouble trying to persuade the residents to move so they could re-do the main stand. In the end they lost and nicked our plot on Stanley Park.

I would love to see Goodison redeveloped but I cant help but think our best chance has gone in the shape of the Kings Dock project, that would have been fantastic

  12. No one be-grudges him leaving, he was always going to out grow us and the money came in handy, but it was the manner of his departure, like a rat deserting a sinking ship right on deadline day, leaving Moyes with no time t0 buy anyone.

Then, he has all this badge kissing antics and celebrating in front of the Gwladys street, if he had shown a bit of respect and humility then maybe the fans wouldn't give him so much stick but to behave like that (and slag Moyes off in the book) means that one little interivew on Evertontv won't get him back in Everton fans favour.

  13. Not a lot to take from that really, they are obviously keeping their cards close to their chest. In an ideal world I would love to see land bought up behind Bullens and a stand by stand rebuild of Goodison (with building taking place each close season with us playing away for the final few games of one season and first few of the next to maximise building time)

Sadly without tat elusive investment there is no wa we can afford it. There has to some dockside space free somewhere though, I like the idea of a ground on the banks of the Royal Blue Mersey
