  1. He was interviewed on Breakfast TV this morning talking about Tesco's latest financial results. No direct mention of Everton, wouldn't expect there to be, but the following exchange I thought was interesting and shows what's at the front of his mind...

Interviewer-"You've been involved in a competition row centering around the Tesco towns phenomenon, the authorities trying to limit your expansion in places where you've already got lots of stores. For example in Swansea, Truro and Inverness three out of every four pounds spent in retail is spent in your stores; surely you recognise that that's bad for customers not good for them."

Leahy-"No, it's good for customers and you want as many stores as you can get because customers want to have a choice. That's how we get judged and if people are concerned in a town that there's too many Tescos then open up and invite other retailers along. What mustn't happen is that some faceless individual in Whitehall tries to tell people in Kirkby or in St Helens or in Swansea where they can shop, they're the people with the power and they're the people who should decide where they shop."

OT but isn't he just admitting what the interviewers asking him whilst trying to disagree there? Surely three tescos in Inverness is not 'choice'!

  2. Does anyone know if he has passed his driving test yet?

I reckon it may be that he's been driving someone round whos had a pocket full of weed and counterfeit notes, and he's been arrested as well as the two other guys as they were all in the same car - probably driven by him.

And to the guy who said cannabanoids have been shown to cause mental illness, thats actually only partly true - they've only been shown to bring mental illness on in those already predisposed to it.

  3. On his way today apparently..maybe he's lowered his wage demands/Everton have become more desperate to sign cover

I hope not. He's not much better than Hibbert, gives a lot of penalties away and recieves a lot of cards. Add to that the fact hes a money grabbing turd (Blackburn fans call him Lucash) and his age and he's not worth it. I thought he'd end up on the pile of uncontracted players that think they are far better than they are with Mifsud and Appiah.

  4. is that blue tinited glasses???

Rooney is a world class player, not many better than him in the world and he has got better every year.

Yeah, I'll accept that I may be putting him down a little for the obvious reasons... however, I think one of the problems that England has with football as a whole is putting the individual above the team, and Rooneys a fine example of this - he's too selfish for his own good, and this was evident even last night. I feel he is likely to do a repeat of the Portugal game at any point, or find himself banned for a big game after picking up needless yellows. We should be asking why Germany and Italy have been so succesful compared to us and the Dutch over the years, when we've both had arguably better squads - yet very little success as a team.

  5. ..........Flowers..........

    Warhurst..Berg..Hendry..Le Saux

    Ripley...Batty..Sherwood...Wilcox

    .........Shearer..Sutton.........

Bench: Mimms, Moran, May, Fenton, Gallagher

Something like that anyway (probably got a few pre and post champions team in there! - you did ask the question!

They had Tony Gale (then aged about 37) and Mark Atkins as well - both players who would struggle to get in any PL squad today IMO. I think David May might have gone to Man Utd for the 1994/95 season.

  6. Hi Guys,

I'm from Friends Of Fulham and run pre-match interview questions before each game, jamiemaher and Licker visit our site every now and again and a few of us such as LBNo11 visit your site occasionally.

jamiemaher posed some questions for us and I wanted to return the favour, if anyone could take a few moments to answer these questions it would be greatly appreciated.

    1) With last seasons injury troubles behind you what are your hopes and expectations for this year?

    2) How do you feel you have done in the transfer window and do you feel you could have brought in more?

    3) What do you think of your new home kit?

    4) How has the possible take over talk been received, would you like Mr Moyes to have access to the sort of money Mark Huges has or would it make you a ‘plastic club’?

    5) How do you think Fulham will do this year?

    6) Predictions for the game?

    1. I think we should be aiming for 6th place, but be happy with the top 8. If we can beat one of Spurs or Citeh, we will have done very well indeed, comparitively.

    2. Fine. We could have brought in more, we could have also just as easily lost more. Heitinga is easily capable of replacing Lescott, for far cheaper.

    3. Its absolutely rank, as are all this seaosns shirts.

    4. I'd like the sort of money Hughes has to be available - so long as the owners are

properly checked out. I don't want to be the next West Ham or Portsmouth.

    5. Not as well as last year. Sorry. Theres a lot of clubs around that have improved their squad heavily, Fulham doesn't seem to be one of them.

    6. 2-1 to us.

  7. I think Liverpool will still get it - I reckon there'll be two Northern groups - North East and North West, with the North western one being Liverpool and Manchester.

Bear in mind that Leeds, Sheffield, Bradford and Hull can't offer anything more and this new high speed rail link is going through Manchester and Liverpool.

Also, aren't Blackburns training facilities one of the best in the league? I seem to recall Abramovich stating they would be the basis for the redevelopment at Chelseas training pitch. They are close enough, surely?

  8. Its early days yet but from what we've seen of his attitude I reckon he'll stick around a lot longer than Rooney did. He also plays in a position where theres a fair few Brit youths coming through, unlike when Rooney left, who was pretty much the only sure fire prospect of his age and nationality.
