He predicted we would finish higher than Liverpool last season! He has got a soft spot for Everton though.
-
agreed, but................ if he knocks in 15 goals it will be a bargain as his value will probably go to the £15m range. It's a gamble.
But he could also turn out to be another David Nugent as well.
-
Moyes would have to start him most of the time, but can't see him being here though.
-
Good interview with Georges Leekens earlier on talk sport, says hopes Lukaku plays well and often, think he's hinting that Lakaku won't be picked for Belgium if he is not getting game time.
-
Brilliant!
-
I just want the players to know that if you pass the ball and move a few paces in another direction they are allowed to have the ball back!
-
I'm convinced that he will become a 'good' striker, wether that will be Everton-good or Chelsea-good, I'm not sure either
This lad will become a top player, of that I have no doubt but why has he got to be labelled the new anything? Read somewhere he really has got his feet on the ground, half the battle then!
-
I'm not saying it will be easy, but there isn't a Big country in it that stands out
Loads of quality in this group I can assure you, Belgium 1st Croatia 2nd Serbia 3rd Jocks 4th Taff's 5th Macedonia 6th

Is playing in straight lines, hoofing it upfront and having no cohesion our default setting? Because when things don't go our way we just revert to type.
-
So that's it then, no new players. We are the only team in the top four divisions not to sign a player, depressing is not the words I would use, I don't like industrial language much so I'm just going to say Fuck it, why, what's the point?

Damn right I'd want a citeh type take over, loads of wonger to shove in the faces of the kopites, but it has to be done with style, not by being crass, to win over the neutrals, not by being big heads, yeah I,d say a new shiny 55,000 seater stadium to boot and good, hungry young players we can be proud of is nothing to be ashamed of.

When I asked the elf ''what the hell are you doing in my wardrobe?'' it replied ''Narnia business!''

to me its what makes me matt. I love the colour blue, and HATE anything red. i own very few items in the house that are red, and not a single item of clothing. Its the nod you get when you see another everton fan in the street, that only Evertonians understand. Its the pain and the anguish, that make the small amounts of happiness seem even better. Its being able to say my team are an honest team and dont cheat. its being able to smile at Man City spending 100 millions of pounds knowing that we are producing a better player in our youth academy. Its the goose bumps i get thinking of Stuart and Horne keeping us in the prem when we beat the dons 3-2 on the final day of the season. Its the thrill i get watching Rideout diving header against man utd in the 28th minute against Utd in the 95 cup final. Then there was Duncans header against liverpool for his first goal, Rooneys first against arsenal, peter beagries back flip, but probably its the moment i met big nev when i was 12 and had a picture of us with his massive arm around me! thats the things what everton means to me. LIFE. (my boy had his first everton kit aged 1day!)
That is soooo true about getting the nod! We are the Firm, we are a family, we are EVERTON.

I would argue Yak wasnt a proven goalscorer or at least not over a prolonged period of time. He was a player at the right price that could masquerade as a "big signing". Maybe, and I cant remember, we were more injury free in our CL season that meant cracks didnt need to be papered over. If we could turn out our best side every week we could win the league as on our day we can beat anyone - the way we finished last season is testament to that
I said arguably best manager but if you think that is open to debate then you must be seeing another financially hamstrung manager who consistently gets the most from his sub standard resources, but you are right another thread
Lack of money does not make the manager use players in wrong positions or play safe and not have the balls to change personnel at critical times, or pick players to win games,....... blah blah blah.......

Last night was the first I've seen the lads play during the pre-season, and it leaves me very concerned.
We don't seem to be keeping any shape.
The team isn't working as a unit and the term 'headless chickens' springs to mind.
If you watch the top teams, they all maintain an amount of positional discipline. If they lose the ball, they're right back on top of things, and when they have the ball, they have a logical approach going forward.
I don't see any of that about Everton at the moment. It could have been eleven fans on the pitch last night, as such was the cluelessness of the display.
I know we have a few injuries, but it's time to get the midfield right once and for all.
It may be the Moyes way though, pegs, holes and various shapes me thinks.

Important information for your Bet, the group for Belgiums WC '14 qualification:
Croatia
Serbia
Belgium
Scotland
Wales
Macedonia
Could have been worse if you ask me
WORSE? I'm Welsh and this bloody group is SOLID! Mind you the way we are playing at the mo we'd make mincemeat out of Macedonia and the jocks! Oh ok I really can't see us getting more than four points tbh.
-
No chance he will be loaned out again, we can't afford to buy him and he's not a proper winger, three reasons why we won't see him here.
-
Sign him on 30th August and sell him for £7m on 31st!
Didn't think you could play for three clubs in one season, like your thinking though.
-
Yet again we will be off to a slow start, losing to teams we really should be beating, beating teams we have no right to, oh wait! Hang on a minute, is this a ground-hog moment? We won't be able to make up the points difference in time because it will be too bloody late! 10th at best.
-
And so bringing in someone like him will help the youngsters? I believe he will be a right twat to the younger players and mess with their heads, players like that normally are, so they can stamp their authority all over the place.
-
Yeah fair point, but can we afford £50,000 a week on him?
-
Don't want him here just because he's a twat, it's just I cant see him fitting in here at all. No better than Coleman on the right and certainly no better than Ossie in the middle so where does that leave him?
-
He's only cheap if his wages are less than mine.
-
If he wants to start for England then he should be looking to get out of there.

Not a chance! Moyes plays 451 because he sees the midfield as pivotal to how games are won or lost and so he does not want to be outnumbered there. David Moyes said so himself in an interview on tactics by the Daily Telegraph during the 2010 world cup whilst out there.
