We got rid of 25 players during the summer, either permanently or on loan, so there's not too much dead wood left at the moment. Players like Gomes and Adebayor might be off in January though, provided clubs are willing to meet their wage demands.

It takes time to get accustomed to the speed of the Premier League and AVB is cautiously bedding-in our summer signings, especially Erik Lamela. I have no doubt he will adjust in time, but he's still some way off being a regular first team starter at the moment. Eriksen seems like he's much closer to being a first team regular, but both Lewis Holtby and Gylfi Sigurdsson are offering fierce competition for the creative attacking midfielder role.

I think it was a fair result today, although Spurs could really have done with the extra two points. Bearing in mind we had three regular attacking starters missing - Defoe, Bale & Lennon - I thought goals would be hard to come by today, but Adebayor & Sigurdsson delivered the goods. Yes, "Big Pat" was signed in March 1986 as cover for Neville Southall for the FA Cup Final against Liverpool. I don't think he ever played any first team matches for Everton but there may well have been a few reserve matches during his short time at Goodison.
