  1. I think we could quite easily play a back 4 of Hibbert Duffy Heitinga and Distin. Distin is experienced and a competent make shift left back. I don't think its a matter of Distin needing help, especially if the alternative of "help" is from Jags happy.png

If we were to play Hibbert, Duffy, Jags, Distin though. No no no no no no no no no no NO!

  2. I think he'd make an excellent manager, assistant or coach when he retires. However, I don't think being England's assistant is the best move for him or the country just yet. Neville coaching Rooney, Lampard, Gerrard, Terry etc? He's barely any older than most of the squad and has no experience. Most of the squad would see him as their equal (at best) rather than an authorative figure.

  3. How many places get you into Europe this year? A friend of mine was saying that 7th is the last place for European football so if we win against Wolves on Sunday and hold off Newcastle United does that mean we are in the Europa League? I'd be happier than a dog with two dicks if we are.

No because Carling Cup winners takes precedence over 7th place

  4. I thought we were unlucky not to win that. Aside from some poor defending for their equaliser, we played quite well, not to our best but quite well.

If Jags and Heits hadn't messed up for their goal and we'd won 1-0 most people would have said we were quite comfortable.

What was disappointing was how we seemed unable to step up a gear when we needed another goal. Jelavic struggled to get into the game. I actually think we missed Fellaini playing further up to bully them a bit and help link up Ossie and Pienaar's runs. Also would have liked to see Barkley.

Still, decent performance, win at Wolves next weekend and 7th place is all but wrapped up.

  5. Tough away game but we've generally done quite well at those this season (Won at Fulham, Swansea, Drew at OT, almost held out at Citeh).

I fancy another 2-0 win.. maybe.

Jelavic and Coleman from the bench.

  6. I don't really understand how we're even in the running for a player like Dempsey. People seem to be thinking we can get him for a few million? If he was an Everton player and people linked him with a move to Spurs for a pitiful fee like £4M, we'd all be up in arms. It would be the equivalent of us selling Cahill 5/6 years ago for that sum of money.

Especially given his form over the last 2-3 months, there's no way on earth that we'd get him for under 10 million in my opinion, and if he's going anywhere this summer, I expect plenty of other big clubs will be in for him and I can't see us winning that bidding war.

I would LOVE to be proven wrong though, I can't think of a better player to replace Cahill with our current formation. I think Dempsey is one of the best midfielders in the league.

  7. It's human rights issues in Bahrain. There have been protests going on because the public are unhappy with the way the royal family runs the country, basically pissing all over them because they can. One person described the race as "the Bahrain royal family throwing a party inside the race track while a civil war goes on on the other side of the fence".

I think it's an abomination that they went there at all, because in truth, by joining the "party" with the royal family, they showed support for the regime. That's just my opinion, many people differ. The race was crap anyway, and Vettel won with the Mclarens completely screwing up, so they should just wipe it from the championship :)

  8. What I find hilarious is that yesterday, the Mirror wrote that due to Everton's financial state, we might have to sell Baines for 5 million.

Today, they link us with a 10 million pound move for Sigurdsson.

Obviously, they didn't think that one through very well.

  9. Hoilett would certainly fill a gap on that right wing for us. Very effective but quite streaky player in my opinion.

It's certainly worth looking at, I wouldn't rule out us getting him on a free, most of the top 6 have a player in that position already (Walcott, Valencia, Nasri, Lennon, Sturridge, Henderson.... :P )

  10. Rodwell can still become a first team player for us, and who knows what Barkley is capable of. We have more important problems to be looking at in my opinion. Coleman is our only out and out right winger, and Gueye on the left if the Pienaar deal doesn't happen. And Hibbert is solid at right back but he's also getting on and isn't the kind of player we need in our starting eleven if we want to move forward.

When our wingers consist of Coleman, Gueye and McFadden, and our midfield consists of Fellaini, Gibson, Rodwell, Barkley, Osman and Cahill, it's clear to me which area I'd be spending money personally.

  11. I think he's a class act, and at 22 I think he's well worth ten million.

It's all academic though, god knows where they got the impression that we have ten million pounds to splash out on anyone. And why we would invest in a central midfielder when we already have fellaini, rodwell, gibson, barkley, osman and cahill defeats me.

  12. We will lose. Just hope Moyes uses the rest of the season to give Barkley and maybe Duffy another chance. I read on the OS earlier that he was planning on using Barkley again before the season ends. Hope its true. And I'd like to see some guts in our performance, then I'll be happy enough.
