  1. Well we threatened them in the first half and they didn't threaten us, so all we had to do was play the second half the same we'd played the first, and we'd have beat them, but we didn't, we sat back, we let them play and gain in confidence and put ourselves under pressure, leading to the fatal mistakes from Distin and Coleman.

  2. I thought it was a terrific minute's silence and a credit to the city, and to football. Maybe one or two idiots made a peep out of 87,000.

I hope you lot get absolutely murdered in the final, but good luck anyway, you deserved to win, unfortunately.

  3. this is a joke right?

    My comment or the thread?

If you're talking about me I genuinely feel that Johnny and Distin failed to deal with Suarez, played too high up the pitch, and Fellaini played alright, he was probably one of our better players, but he wasn't a patch on the Felli from the Quarter final replay. We needed players like him to step up and really take command of the game and I just don't think he did.

  4. No other club would sack Moyes given what he's achieved.

It's a results business, it hurts today but he's still taken a club with a thin squad and money owed to the banks to an FA Cup semi-final and a top ten finish.

Who else would you have? Swansea might play nicer football than us, and Norwich might give it a good go, but they're still below us in the league and I don't see either of them playing at Wembley this weekend. Like I've mentioned before, Steve Coppell took Reading to a top half finish in their first season in the Premier League, look what's happened to his career since. What's to say the same won't happen to Rodgers and Lambert in the next five years?

I really don't understand why people think we should be winning trophies. Obviously we want to, but we're not a top club at the moment, its sad but its true.

  5. Shaun Derry strokes Ashley Young's rib cage - 3 match ban.

Mario Balotelli almost takes a season out of Alex Song's career by breaking his leg - No action taken.

Shocking and disgusting. Saw the first half of the Shite's match today as well, saw Flanagan's second tackle, stonewall yellow card. If he hadn't already been booked, the referee would have given him a yellow, fact. So why didn't he show the second yellow? Bunch of bottling cunts, all of them.

I also heard there was a case for Jones to see red as well. So much for that conspiracy eh Kenny? Remember last time Kenny started whinging about biased referees before a derby?

  6. Does anyone know who is in charge of Match of the Day? Everton are only on early when we lose to a top 5/6 side, the highlights frequently make it look like we played worse than we did, two of their three regular "experts" Lawro and Hansen are ex-Kopites and Lineker seems to be under contract to never mention the fact that he ever played for us....

It must be a media conspiracy :P

  7. I'm feeling more and more confident about this one. I know we must have about a 0% success record in recent history when we've gone into a derby as favourites, but I think we've got the players with the right attitude to turn up and do this. Heitinga and Distin have played to the same excellent standard together all season, regardless of opposition and competition, Jelavic is on fire and has injected new life into Cahill, Maggie has the opportunity to really start his Everton career with a big performance at Wembley, Neville is in his best form this season, as is Baines, Fellaini gets better and better with every game.

Cautiously optimistic I'd say, but looking at the performances of Chelsea and Spurs recently, I fancy our chances against either of them in the final.

Early goal against the Shite and I think we'll spank them. Start slowly and all it takes is a dodgy refereeing decision or a deflection and we could find ourselves behind. Moyes needs to learn from his previous "let's bide our time" approach in previous derby games and tell our players to go out there, hit them hard, hit them fast, and knock the wind out of their sails.

  8. 6th place? Newcastle have 7 games remaining, including the last day clash at Goodison:

    Swansea away

    Bolton home

    Stoke home

    Wigan away

    Chelsea away

    Man City home

    Everton away

Lets assume that we lose at Old Trafford, because lets be honest, we probably will, then Newcastle have to drop 10 points before they come to Goodison, with us winning every other game (Norwich away, Sunderland home, Fulham home, Stoke away, Wolves away), in order for us to be within range of them on the last day. It's a very, very tall order. We should focus on the cup and hope to finish ahead of the Shite. I honestly don't care about overachieving league finishes any more, we've had enough of those over the years with Moyes, it's time to win a trophy.

If we win the semi, we will probably be in Europe, because both Chelsea and Spurs should finish top 5 and qualify for Europe anyway.

  9. Re Felli's 8 yellows, I read somewhere that on April 8 (Sunday night), the ten card limit no longer applies and the new limit becomes 15 for the remainder of the season.

Does anyone know anything about this?

  10. According to the Daily Paper Round Up on the OS, Drenthe is back in training and in contention for game time over Easter weekend.

Royston Drenthe, who has missed Everton’s last three games after being given compassionate leave, returned to training this week and could come back into first-team contention over Easter.
  11. They've had a good season but they seem to have gone off the boil a bit lately. It's a winnable game, no doubt, but hard to call.

Beating West Brom was the first game in ages where we've turned up and beaten a team where we were clear favourites.

However, they were poor and Norwich will be a different proposition. Win and we prove to ourselves we can win when we're favourites and when we aren't. Lose and I can see us struggling to go into games as favourites with a huge amount of confidence.

And yes, I'd call us favourites for this one.

  12. Rodgers and Pardew will be the prime candidates.

Moyes has done a great job again overall this season, with a negative net spend and 7th place. The thing is though that he's done it every year for us, so it's become expected, and he is therefore no longer exceeding expectations
