Liverpool Time Team Special

Well worth a look, I don't normally watch it (wife loves it).

Didn't realise Liverpool was such a young city (probably just me not being local), a fairly insignificant town only three hundred years ago....it's an incredible rise to what it became and what it still is.

A lot of the roads named after slave traders, Penny Lane for example (after James Penny), didn't know that either.

Bristol's similar (Blackboy Hill, Whiteladies Road).

There was an organisation a couple of years ago who wanted to rid the city of anything slave trade related because they felt it'd bring the city down. They wanted to rename roads and builds.

In James Street, there's a pub called the Liverpool and in the basement there is apparently a tunnel that leads to the mersey with shackles on the wall. It was used for loading slaves on and off boats.
