TrueBlue Posted January 21, 2007 Report Posted January 21, 2007 is actually a Man Utd song, well apparently. Heard it on Sky Sports News just then, some fella wrote a book about football songs and there origins. Man U sang YNWA after the Munich disaster. Lookin for more information on internet but nothing so far. Quote
fcssl Posted January 21, 2007 Report Posted January 21, 2007 it wouldn't surprise me at all...a song written for manure and adopted by sh1te! Quote
Bill Posted January 22, 2007 Report Posted January 22, 2007 Munich 1958 ??, Dont think anybody had ever heard of the song at that time, Gerry and the Pacemakers took it to No 1 in the mid 60s. Quote
aaron Posted January 22, 2007 Report Posted January 22, 2007 it wouldn't surprise me at all...a song written for manure and adopted by sh1te! lmao nice one mate Quote
Louis Posted January 22, 2007 Report Posted January 22, 2007 Bill - it's plausible.. it was written for a film called Carousel which was released in 1956. Link Oscar Hammerstein II don't ya know Quote
Bill Posted January 22, 2007 Report Posted January 22, 2007 Yeah, i'm not disagreeing with anyone, just that it was a relatively unknown song until Gerry took it into the Charts in the 60s. Thats when Shankly and the redshite took it on Board. Quote
TrueBlue Posted January 22, 2007 Author Report Posted January 22, 2007 Looked for more information about it but can't see anything. It was sung by Frank Sinatra, Judy Garland and Nina Simone before Gerry and the Pacemakers redone it. Although that information is from wikipedia. Quote
Randomness Posted January 22, 2007 Report Posted January 22, 2007 aparently it is treu which is why manure fans tend to boo it rather than the cockney "sign on, sign on" version Quote
