  1. Not exactly, I've been watching him since his early Lille days, he always looked promising but never really delivered. In Greece that changed and the fans are behind him but nowadays there isn't much difference between the Greek League and the SPL, it's rapidly declining. Olympiakos towers above the rest so it's a bit easier to score than back at Lille/Saint-Etienne or on International level. If he would sign I wouldn't expect him to score more than 5 goals in a full season.

Au contraire my friend, I think Everton might be my most watched team since Fellaini joined, think I watched around 30 games last season.

I'm Belgian, I know Mirallas and I know the EPL very well and I can guarantee that you are misjudging Mirallas. Belgians can be very pessimistic. I've seen Mirallas shine against high-profile opponents with a physical game and a high pace and I'm sure that the Premier League is a good league for Kevin Mirallas. Everton is not making a mistake. I have a very good intuition and in a high-level team like Everton and a high pace league like the EPL he will deliver good performances. He'd be a real danger for Manchester United.

  2. I an official interview for the Belgian National television, Mirallas openly declared:

"I'm going to be talking with Everton. I'm not saying no, but I'm also not saying yes." He was unaware that DM was in the audience during the Belgium-Netherlands game yesterday night. He said he wasn't in a hurry and could wait till the end of the transfer window. The advantages of Everton is getting more chances to play and playing together with Fellaini. Arsenal used to be his favorite team in the world, but he declared that sometimes you need to drop your preferences and blue might perhaps be better for him.

  3. He had a decent game tonight. We were brilliant the first 25-30 minutes and he was playing really well. Mirallas gave an assist, Christian Benteke (whom we've also been linked with in the past) scored. We started to back off and give 'm the ball though and they came back in it after the break due to errors in the offside trap. After they went 1-2 up we took charge of the game again and won 4-2.

Jan Vertonghen, a new Spurs player, was immense. And I think he's going to be for Tottenham as well. Better than Vermaelen according to me.

Vermaelen had a flawless game. Vertonghen made a defensive mistake that lead to the Netherlands' second goal. But for the rest, Vertonghen did a great shift in his role of upcoming back.

The last 25 minutes were a Belgian spectacle. Lukaku was superb, Mertens was very efficient, De Bruyne was brilliant, Dembélé worked well, Alderweireld was surprisingly flawless. I loved the Belgian team. I didn't even miss Kompany.

  4. 1) Arsenal is a top EPL side, they will need a star striker who can guarantee quality performances. Giroud and Podolski (indeed) aren't quite there yet, Arsenal need someone else. Mirallas just doesn't fit the profile, cause face it, he's not exactly Wayne Rooney. Arsenal WILL NOT sign Mirallas as a replacement for RVP. That's unthinkable. They'll go for someone else.

    2) Mirallas is already in the stage of going on a medical a Everton. (not an indisputable argument, but it weighs through)

What I'm saying is: relax guys :P If the rumors on Mirallas coming to Everton are correct, then I wouldn't be too worried. Last week there was a rumor about LFC wanting to sign Mirallas as well. The Arsenal rumor is on the same level as that. The Everton rumor is just way more concrete.

  5. A bit worried that Arsenal now have the funds to hijack the deal but hopefully Marouane put in a good word in and he wants to play

Or you can look at it this way: they now have the funds to go for more expensive alternatives like Llorente.

BTW Belgium just defeated the Netherlands 4-2, Mirallas gave an assist for the first goal and was substituted before the other 3 Belgian goals. Van Persie wasn't even selected in the Dutch starting 11 and didn't come in for Huntelaar later on neither. So if you look at it that way, Mirallas > RVP biggrin.png

  6. Bit worried with Arsenal selling RVP that they may come sniffing for one of our targets now.

    Get him signed fast DM.

Arsenal will come too late, cause Kevin Mirallas is apparently going on a medical at Goodison Park tomorrow. He can't come on a medical and then decide to go to the competition. By the way, Mirallas will want to play, and at Everton he'll get way more chances and he knows that.

Arsenal will go for Llorente instead. Not sure if they'll seal the deal, but I think that's where their focus will be.

  7. No player seems to be performing well in the Belgian national team. They never qualify for anything, but they do have Kompany, Vermaelen, Lukaku, Hazard, Mirallas, Fellaini, Dembélé, Vertonghen, Van Buyten, De Bruyne etc. It's not a reference.

I wasn't even aware we had signed this player (for reasons I don't need to elaborate on), but by god, quite a fair number of players coming in now, after some recent close seasons of little activity. I didn't know anything about this player until today, but had a decent ratio for goals to games in Greece, but isn't the most prolific at International level. Too early to say obviously, but maybe he could be a success at Goodison, another striking option is always welcome. A little enthusiastic about todays signing.

  8. Hello Toffees,

I'm a Belgian Premier League fan and I read this topic and felt the need to enlighten some of you on a few things.

Mirallas simply played a bad game against England. There is no other reason, I know how he performs when he's good and he simply had a bad day.

A few months prior to that game, Belgium played against France in a friendly in Paris. The Belgian manager made the mistake of putting Vossen as the striker in his formation. Belgium couldn't break through France's defence and France couldn't break through the Belgian defence. However halfway through the second half, Vossen was replaced by Mirallas and it changed the game completely. The Belgians finally managed to break through the French defence, as Mirallas ripped the right flank apart. He came very close to scoring, but the French goalkeeper did 2 absolutely stunning saves, and so the game ended at 0-0.

One of the main differences between the two games was that the pace of the game was a lot higher in the France game. The higher the tempo, the better he seems to perform. That is my only concern with Everton, cause they may play a bit stealthily, compared to for instance teams like Arsenal, Tottenham or Man City. In a closed game, with a slow tempo, the defence of the opponent will be too much in control and that's not Kevin's cup of tea.

EIither way, good luck for next season, toffees.
